Need help on algebra homework? Question: I'm almost done with my math homework. I just have these last 3 problems that I'm stuck on. Can you help me? Please show your work on how you got these. If you have time, can you answer the football/geography questions below? Thanks. Best answer will receive 10 points of course! Math: 3) What is the slope of a line parallel to 2/3y - 8x = 3? My answer for question 3 is 12. Is this correct? 7) Write an equation of a line that is parallel to the line -x + 4y = 20 and that contains no points in Quadrant II 8) A car wash charges $10 per wash and $14 per wash-and-wax. After a busy day, sales totaled $2856. 8a. Write an equation for the possible numbers of washes and wash-and-waxes that cold have been done. 8c. Is it possible that 210 car washes were done? Explain 8d. Find three possible combinations of washes and wash-and-waxes that could have been done. Explain how you found your answer. Football/Geograhpy: Here are the football games played on October 3rd, 2010: NY Jets at Buffalo Baltimore at Pittsburgh Detroit at Green Bay Charlotte (CAR) at New Orleans Indianapolis at Jacksonville Washington at Philadelphia Chicago at NY Giants Cincinnati at Cleveland Denver at Nasville (TN) San Francisco at Atlanta Seattle at St. Louis Houston at Oakland Phoenix (AZ) at San Diego Boston (N.E.) at Miami 6) Yosemite National Park was established on October 1, 1890. Identify the team that will fly over Yosemite en route to their game. 7) Over what city will the above team be when they cross the Mississippi River? 8) Name the states the 49ers will fly over going to the "Land of Tara". (11 states) Sorry, it does seem like a lot of work, Please at least answer the math problems, but if you have time, can you answer the football/geography questions, too? Answer: 3) lets get it into slope - intercept form y = mx + b 2/3y - 8x = 3 2/3y = 8x + 3 2y = 24x + 9 (we multipled both sides by 3 to get rid of the fraction infront of y) y = 12x + 4.5 (divide by 2 to get y by itself) yes the slope is 12 7) again slope intercept this -x + 4y = 20 4y = x + 20 y = 1/4x + 5 (so our slope is 1/4) so we need a line with a slope of 1/4 (so its paralell) but also doesn't go into Quad II (so we will make it have a negative Y intercept so it can't go into Quad II slope intercept form where m = slope and b = y intercept y = 1/4x -7 will work 8) set up an equation where x = # of wash and y = # of wash + wax and z = total made x + y = z we know that our total (z) was 2856, and that wash (x) cost 10 and wash + wax (y) cost 14 so we have 10x + 14y = 2856 what you need to do is put this into slope form as there are mulitple answers, so where every the line hits on whole numbers for both x and y is a possible solution 14y = -10x + 2856 y = -5/7x + 204 6) is Seattle, just based on Geography knowledge 7) St. Louis... but it might be a trick question as Seattle is the only team that will be flying over Yosimite and they might not even have to cross the Mississipi depending on what airport they land at. 8) California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Missouri, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia |

Any questions feel free to ask... I can e-mail the answer to you or just put it in the additional informaton Answer: Pretty damn good and some very interesting picks, but not quite perfect. Still probably the best mock I've seen on Yahoo! Answers (besides my own obviously). The 9ers do need a right tackle, so Trent Williams isn't a bad pick (at least since Bulaga is off the board), but I doubt that they'd go with two offensive linemen in the first. My biggest problem is probably Dez Bryant falling that far. Maybe you're a Vikings fan doing some wishful thinking, but I would be shocked if Dez even came close to falling out of the top 20. Besides that my biggest problem is your complete omission of Eric Norwood and Sergio Kindle, who are two of my favorite 3-4 OLB in this class that aren't DE/OLB tweeners like Brandon Graham and Jerry Hughes (Kindle played DE at Texas this year but even in a 4-3 he'd play LB). Donovan Warren's okay, but he's mostly potential and I don't think he's worth a top 20 pick. Kyle Wilson might also be a tiny but too high but its not that bad. I love Sean Weatherspoon, but he really projects much better to a 4-3. He could be a 3-4 mike, but the Jets are more than set at ILB with Bart Scott and David Harris. Give them Norwood, or the best 3-4 LB on the board. Wootton (which for the record is how its spelled) is a nice prospect, but he's mostly all potential, and at that point they should go with Carlos Dunlap who's also all potential but at least he doesn't have the health concerns. Besides that there's nothing that bad. Gresham and LaFell are a little too high for me, but besides that there's not much else to complain about. Very solid job. Some of these are mis-named either because of press hype or because of racism on the part of local officials. Most of these are blown way out of proportion by calling them a "riot". For example, I lived near Plainfield, NJ in 1968 and there was a disturbance there, but I wouldn't call it a riot. And you'll notice that there are many incidents that are not called a riot, but also involve mass mob violence in which WHITE people attacked black people. A good example is the town of Rosewood in Florida. In 1923 there was such a horrific event there that the entire black population was either murdered or forced to flee for their lives, and the town was wiped off the face of the map. There were many events like this from the end of the 19th century, right up through the civil rights era of the 1950s and even early 1960s. Why weren't they called "riots"? EDIT: I just noticed you included the Stonewall Riot. You really should look that up. It had nothing to do with race! Gay New Yorkers, tired of being beaten and abused by police, fought back in what is historically considered the beginning of the Gay rights movement. While I'm sure there were Black people there, most of the people fighting the police were White. Do you just think the word "riot" implies "Black people" is that how you accidentally included this one? That says a lot about where you're coming from. |
