The majority of recruiters spend less than three minutes reviewing a resume, according to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management. That's why resumes need good organization. A well-organized resume allows recruiters to quickly find what they're looking for. Bullet points help organize information into nuggets and make resumes more manageable. Bullet Points That Go 'Bang' While quite lengthy, this bullet point from the resume of an advertising industry veteran is still one of the best I've seen in years. Eleven days after script approval, had an abandoned runway cleared, an authentic-looking bus stop built, nine talent cast, a DC- 10 commandeered for taxi and takeoff, an off-hours pilot co-opted, and four spots transferred, edited, voiced and foleyed, all on time and under budget. It makes sense that this bullet point comes from someone with a background in advertising; he does a fantastic job here of advertising himself. I like this bullet because it clearly communicates that this person is capable of completing multiple projects in a high-stress environment; it seamlessly incorporates successes with the details of the job; and it has a perfect ending: The "on time and under budget" is icing on the cake. Use Bullets Sparingly Often people complain that they just can't summarize their jobs with less than five bullet points. Year-Year Anonymous Medical Center Anytown, USA Cytotechnologist/Histotechnologist Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cytopathology section of the laboratory. Conducted highly complex cytopathological testing of clinical specimens, quality control, and quality assurance in all aspects of anatomic pathology. Cross-trained as a histotechnologist and perfected special staining techniques to assist with the day-to-day operation of the histology section. Promoted hospital's FNAB service substantially increasing departmental revenues and visibility. A cytotechnologist, by the way, studies human cells for signs of cancer or other diseases. And, this one seems to also be a good writer of resume bullet points. Put Success Before the Rest Prioritizing the order of your bullets is critical. Why? It's called "the primacy effect" -- whatever people see first, they remember best. So for your resume to be truly memorable, your strongest qualifications and achievements should go in the top bullets. Don't bury your best as this job seeker did: Department Store, Anytown, USA Sales Clerk, March -- June, Year Assisted customers Put out inventory In charge of planogram/floor changes Recipient of "Top Twenty Salesperson of the Month" Award The first thing I would do is move the award to the top of the list -- it's this candidate's most impressive (and unique) achievement. Then, I would work on the other bullets, focusing more on specific achievements than day-to-day responsibilities. "Assisted customers" is not terribly informative. A sentence on how the job seeker "boosted sales 10 percent" -- or some other tangible example of success -- would be better. The final result: A stronger resume. Department Store, Anytown, USA Sales Clerk, March -- June, Year Recipient of "Top Twenty Salesperson of the Month" Award Boosted sales 10 percent within three months Coordinated and maintained 30 planograms/floor changes, all while continuing with daily customer assistance and presentation duties Avoid Repetition It can be hard to avoid repeating words in bullets, but consider what would happen if you didn't: Writing GUI-based documentation Writing conceptual, procedural and reference documents Writing Quick Reference Guides Writing documents for end users Writing documents for administrators The resume writer sampled above could have condensed these into one bullet: Write GUI-based documentation; Quick Reference Guides; and conceptual, procedural and reference documents. Or used words other than "writing." Write GUI-based documentation Develop conceptual, procedural and reference documents Create and implement Quick Reference Guides Produce documents for end users and administrators If you're having a hard time finding alternative words, use a thesaurus, but carefully. Never use words that you cannot define. http://thundercloud.net/start/trivia/ Cloudeight Trivia Answers For Tuesday April 15,2008- Trivia Questions - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 This week's questions, answers and winners are further down on this page. What can a U.S. citizen do if he believes he was abused by Canadian Customs?
Question:
I live in Taylor Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, my girlfriend lives in Canada and i cross the border about 2 times a week, I'm 18 and i have a lip ring and i suppose i look suspicious so my car almost always gets checked when i cross, this is fine I'm used to it, but the other day i got a particularly pissed off customs agent, he said i didn't have a right to come here and date Canadians and that if i don't bring proof that i have a job and pay bills next time i cross ill most likely be banned from the country, he then proceeded to slap me around a bit and then sent me to get my car searched, is this abuse, can i really be banned from the country? because I'm 18 and i have no bills an I'm also unemployed at the moment, was i wrongfully abused, i know that they cant do that to people in the states but I'm not sure how the Canadian laws work. And before anyone suggests it, I'm going to say that i was completely respectful and always am to the customs agents, even tho he was bashing my appearance the whole time, i never lost control. and tell me what your citizenship is because i wanna hear what you Canadians think about this. David - No i really didn't lie or exaggerate, actually i left alot out.

Answer:

Will my friends want to ride with me if they don't like my music?
Question:
I'm going to Cedar Point amusement park tomorrow with a bunch of friends, and we're taking two cars. I'm driving my car with 4 other friends, and my BFF is driving hers with 3 others, for a total of 9 people. We're all 17 or 18 years old. I want to listen to bluegrass and southern gospel music the entire time while driving. But I don't think any of my friends would like it, and I can't stand any of the garbage that they listen to (pop, hip-hop, rap -- Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, you name it, whatever is hot today). We're coming from Livonia, Michigan, so it's about 2.5 hours each way. Will my friends want to ride with me if they don't like the music? I really don't know how anyone could not like bluegrass and southern gospel, though. It's totally awesome! Is there any way to get them to start listening to bluegrass music instead of the junk they like now? I love country music too, but only from 1976-1995. I'm a huge fan of 80's country! But I don't think they'd be into that much either. If anything, they'd be more into the modern so-called "country" which really isn't even close to what country music should sound like. I can't stand any of that either.

Answer:
Friends should be ready to sacrifice. Why dont you do it. Second put sometime the music what they like and some time you play what you love Third Put a poll and see what is majority. Don't assume things

Question:
my 9 year old sis is writing book. here is part of it. Chapter one, Taylor Ann Sellina. Taylor Ann Sellina was always “ The new girl in a tee shirt”. But she hoped the new move might just be a new life. Taylor is a 14 year old girl that has allways been the nerd girl in teeshirts never had many friends. But she had just moved to Clio Michigan and hoped it was the start of a new life. “ Mom do you know that there is over 300 preteens just in the school of 8th graders” Taylor said trying to get out of public school some how. As she walked over to her mother Ms. Sallina. “ Yes I do and your still going” Ms.Sallina said smiling. “Mom please no one is going to like me” Taylor said groning. “you don’t know that sweetie” Ms.Salline said. “ now help me unpack” She said after words. “ Fine but I’m not going to like it” Taylor said walking over to the pile of boxes. She unpacked a box of table wear. “Mom I am hot I’m going to go swimming in the pool”. Taylor said half jogging up the stairs. “ ok be home in at least a hour we need to keep un packing”. Ms.Salline said. “ Ok mom”. Taylor yelled down the stairs. The door bell rings. “ I’ll get it” Taylor said. Taylor walked down the stairs in a bathing suit under a tee shirt. She opened the door and there was a girl with red hair and a pink bathing suit with ruffles. “ hi I heard you just moved in” The girl said. Taylor look down at her white race car teen with the red bathing suit under it and her blue glasses and blond gnarled hair. “ Yes, and who are you may I ask?” Taylor asked. The girl rolled her eyes and smiled. “ Oh yes, I’m Ashley Benita” Ashley said. “ oh nice to meet you” Taylor said. Ashley kind of coughed . “ yes you to” She said. “ I’m having a part later want to come?” Ashley said looking around the house. Taylor thought she was dreaming. “ yeah I would like to come” Taylor said snapping back. “ great be at the house two blocks down in 3 hours at 8” Ashley said. “ Ok, thanks” Taylor said. “ sure” Ashley said back. “ I need to be going” Ashley said. “Ok” Taylor said. Taylor said.“ That’s great, now go swimming before it gets to late” Ms.Salline said. “Ok,Ok” Taylor said running out through the back door to the 5 foot pool. “Ahh, water is cool” Taylor said to her self. She swam around for awhile. “ I’m cool now”. She said getting out. She walked inside and dried off. “ After they got a lot unpacked she ran up stairs. Her bed dresser and T.V and posters where already up there and clothes to. So she put up her [posters out her clothes away. “ Ahh comfort at last”. She said as me layed on her bed. As she grabs her book. Opens the page. She is on page 60. “And the pitcher threw the ball and cassia swang and hit a home run” Just as she was reading that she looked at the clock. “ Oh no 30mins!” Taylor screamed. She Jumped in the shower came out just in time to have 20 minutes. She looked in her closet. All she had was a blue strapless dress that had a base ball on the front. She sighed and put it on . She thought she looked good. She brushed her blond curly hair and put some hair spray in it then two blue clips. “ There that looks good” Taylor looked in the mirror again. “ yep” She said. She walked down the side walk to the house, and knocked on the door. A small red headed girl answered. “ You here for Ashley’s party?” She said. “ Yes I am” Taylor said. The little girl opened the door more. Taylor walked in down the basement stairs. Looked at all the girls and boys chatting. Ashley walked over to her. “Come on don’t be shy” Ashley said smiling. “ Hey every one this is Taylor, she just moved in” Ashley said looking kind of weirdly at Taylor’s dress. “Hey” Every one said. Taylor had never been to a party with so many people . She walked over with Ashley. “ This is Megan and Kelsey” Ashley pointed to two twin girls with red dresses and black hair. “Hi” they both said. “ now go find some one to talk to we don’t bite” Ashley told Taylor. “ Ok” Taylor said Quite. She waked over to some people. “ Um, hi” She said. “ Hey” they said then didn’t pay attention. After a wile no one listen to her. “ I think I am going to leave”. Taylor told Ashley. Ashley looked at her, “ That’s fine” Ashley said not really listening. Taylor walked out and down to her house. She sat down on the chair one the living room. She blew a piece of her hair out of her face. “ your home early” Ms.Sallina said. “ Yep, But I’m fine don’t worrie” Taylor said. “ Alright” Ms.Sallina said not so sure. “ Mom” Taylor said/ asked. “ Yes sweetie” Ms.Sallina asked. “ Did you have lots of friends when you where a kid?” Taylor asked. “ Well kids where very different back then so yes” Ms.Sallina said. Taylor huffed and stood up. “ I’m going up stairs” Taylor said as she half stomped up the stairs. “ Whoa, ok then” Ms.Sallina said. “ Oh why does no one like me” Taylor said

What are some ways that 2 11 year old girls could raise money?
Question:
Me and my friend are 11 years old. Our parents said they would take us to Taylor Swift's concert in Michigan in October if we can raise the money. Here are some ways we came up with so fun *Garage Sale *Car Washing *Animal Watching *Walk Dogs *Lawn & Yard Work *Window Cleaning *Mowing Lawns *Collect Cans *Lemonade Sale *House Cleaning *Babysit *Bake Sale Can anyone think of anything else? Thanks :] We've wanted to go to one of her concerts for 2 years now.

Answer:
Those sound good, except the car wash is normally done by a larger group of people, because it's a pretty big task and there should be a large number of cars, secondly I wouldn't do the housecleaning because you're so young. If you can get good jobs, go for it... it's simply that for those things people normally want older people.

Answer:
Pretty damn good and some very interesting picks, but not quite perfect. Still probably the best mock I've seen on Yahoo! Answers (besides my own obviously). The 9ers do need a right tackle, so Trent Williams isn't a bad pick (at least since Bulaga is off the board), but I doubt that they'd go with two offensive linemen in the first. My biggest problem is probably Dez Bryant falling that far. Maybe you're a Vikings fan doing some wishful thinking, but I would be shocked if Dez even came close to falling out of the top 20. Besides that my biggest problem is your complete omission of Eric Norwood and Sergio Kindle, who are two of my favorite 3-4 OLB in this class that aren't DE/OLB tweeners like Brandon Graham and Jerry Hughes (Kindle played DE at Texas this year but even in a 4-3 he'd play LB). Donovan Warren's okay, but he's mostly potential and I don't think he's worth a top 20 pick. Kyle Wilson might also be a tiny but too high but its not that bad. I love Sean Weatherspoon, but he really projects much better to a 4-3. He could be a 3-4 mike, but the Jets are more than set at ILB with Bart Scott and David Harris. Give them Norwood, or the best 3-4 LB on the board. Wootton (which for the record is how its spelled) is a nice prospect, but he's mostly all potential, and at that point they should go with Carlos Dunlap who's also all potential but at least he doesn't have the health concerns. Besides that there's nothing that bad. Gresham and LaFell are a little too high for me, but besides that there's not much else to complain about. Very solid job. Answer:
Doubt the lions are gonna get a 1st round running back with kevin smith working out for them. Because they have a horrid defense. Other than that most of these are pretty good. But one other thing. The raiders getting a OT. This could happen bout i doubt Al Davis will grow a brain. that would be the smart thing to do. But overall your mock draft is alot better than most.
