What's the cheapest/easiest way to get from Springield, OH to Ann Arbor, MI without going by car?
Question:
My friend wants to come to Ann Arbor this weekend from Springfield, but he doesn't have a car. What buses/trains are available from there that can go to Ann Arbor this Friday and return on Sunday?

Answer:
Bus is probably the easiest method. Greyhound has a bus directly from downtown Springfield, Ohio to downtown Ann Arbor for $118. It doesn't look like they have a daytime return bus, so your friend wouldn't get home until Monday. Amtrak doesn't have a station in Springfield. Looks like the closest would be Cincinnati, about 60 miles away. From there, the train will cost $141. Your friend could also rent a car for about $25 a day from several locations in Dayton, OH if they are at least 21 years old. There will be a surcharge if they are ages 21-24.

What is the best area in Ann Arbor?
Question:
If you only have two days to visit Ann Arbor, what do you think is the best area to stay in? My husband and I like museums, hiking, and other forms of art and entertainment. We also like to walk around and would prefer to not use our car. Is it safe around the University of Michigan campus?

Answer:
It's generally very safe around U of M, although there have been some rapes in the area recently. You want to be as close to the university as possible if you're not planning to drive. We do not have much mass transit in Michigan, because we want you to buy a car while you're here. However, there are fun museums and shopping in and around the U of M campus. There are several hotels on I-94 at State Street and they might run shuttles up to the university area.

Greyhound doesn't stop in Oxford, but you can get to Cincinnati or Dayton - http://www.greyhound.com/ . You could also fly to either. Or Amtrak can get you to Cincinnati: http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomeP age The Miami of Ohio website has these suggestions: http://www.miami.muohio.edu/about-miami/visiting-miami/transporta tion.html None of the transfers from Dayton or cincinnati are particularly inexpensive though.

I am a college student moving from Albany,Ga to Ann Arbor,MI and I need a cheap moving company.?
Question:
I don't have a lot of stuff. Just normal dorm room items. I would prefer the moving company to have billing set up where I don't have to pay the whole amount at once and have monthly installments for me to pay off my charge. I also need some one to transport my car. With the same payment plan.

Answer:
I agree with the other posters. I moving company is going to expect full payment on delivery - it's only fair. Drivers have bills to pay too and moving company profit margins are so small already there is no way to regularly "front" the money to the moving crews while waiting for payment. Hiring a moving company based on cheapest price is a recipe for disaster. 99.9% of the time its cheap for a reason - to get your moved booked and then raise the bill later with a bunch of add-on fees. This is how scammers operate. I would recommend that you drive the items yourself or sell the items and by new ones in Michigan. Car shipping is expensive too so, again, I would suggest you drive if possible.
