Question:

Water, car, gas, heat, electric, food, cable, internet, etc WITHOUT the mortgage of a house on it, is it less than like 1000 a month?

Answer:

Is pepper spray legal in Massachusetts?
Question:
I go to school in Worcester (not exactly the nicest town) and there has been quite a bit of violence against college students around my campus. Is it legal to have pepper spray for protection? Also, my friend was beaten up randomly by people who just drove up in a car and attacked him, in this case is it legal to defend yourself with a weapon (i.e. knife)? And fighting back is usually not possible when you are attacked by 3 guys with tire irons.

Answer:
It is legal with a permit, called a Firearm Identification Card. Despite its name, a specific variant of this card can be issued for just pepper spray. This card is easy to obtain from the local court system. I would recommend a good name-brand spray too, like Fox or Def-Tech which the police use. You have to go to a license firearms dealer to buy it (like a local hunting shop or gun shop) It is an exercise of self defense to use a weapon, either pepper spray or other item, to defend yourself if you were in danger. In the situation you describe, multiple people with tire irons is a DEADLY threat, and even shooting them with a gun would usually be lawful. A knife is not recommended for defense because stab wounds are often not felt and have little to no stopping power. I have seem people take a dagger to the stomach and keep fighting and attacking someone for 10 minutes until they eventually bleed out.

Possibly bought a used car lemon. How should I proceed?
Question:
I bought a used 1999 Cadillac Seville from Lincoln Auto Truck in Worcester, Massachusetts and when I drove it to work tonight, the engine began to overheat and there was bubbling coming from the radiator (I live about 35 miles from where I work). I went to this dealership because they have the logo of the Better Business Beaureau on their web site and had many cars under $2000 listed. But when I got there and told the salesperson that I needed a car and only had $2900 to spend the told me that he could not get me a car that low in price, so eventually I ended up with the Cadillac for $5000 (I paid $2000 and financed $3000). Now because of this and other disappointments (such as the car not being ready to pick up earlier because they had to add a device that would lock it if I did not make payments) I fear going back there. What should I do? About me not getting the car earlier, I was told that they needed to keep the car to fix the drivers side window and also put in the locking device, but when I picked up the car, the drivers side window still did not work (I was told that the part is on order when I called them) but the locking device was in place.

Answer:
Don't be afraid to bring it back and have them look at it. You have to give them a chance to make things right before doing anything else. Dealers do not test cars they buy at auction or trade with other dealers other than to make sure they run. They may simply not have known there was a problem and will fix it for you. It might be something as simple as that it was low as coolant. It's not at all unusual to have to wait longer than expected to get a repair part. Don't hold that against them. The fact that they are repairing it is a good sign. I am assuming that you bought the car recently and that you haven't put many miles on it.

Renting an Oldie Car?
Question:
I am aware that Fathers' Day has just passed...however, I want a very early start for next year's gift for my Dad. Is there a place in the greater Boston/Worcester (Massachusetts) area where an oldie kind of car can be rented/leased for the day for my Dad to be able to drive? He's 74 and would really get a kick out of being able to drive one for a few hours -- to bring back the memories of the old "Sunday drive". Perhaps something like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/essyse/31032698/ OR something out of the late 40's? Thanks! I am looking for a place where one can be rented....not just told that it is a good idea!!!!! Kindly refer to question, please!

Answer:
I did this for my father two years ago. I rented a '57 Bel-Air (his first car as a teen) and he had it for 24 hours. I have never seen him act like a smiling, happy child ever before or since. It was well worth the investment, and if I could, I'd buy him one. Memories are a gift that has no price tag, and things like this are especially appreciated. I'd say go for it! If he's 74, then 1945-1955 would have been his mid teen - young adult years.

Skate Spots in Central Massachusetts?
Question:
i live in Holden, it's just north of Worcester. I need to find some good skate spots, like parks, schools, etc. around my area. I could just drive around and check every park, school, library, or mall around me, but if i can get any details of good known skate spots, it would save me time and gas. Exclude any busy areas if possible, i don't feel like getting harrased by people, cops chasing me, cars running me over, or getting stabbed. (i'm paranoid about that, like REALLY paranoid) thanks

Answer:
I'd be surprised if Worcester doesn't have at least a couple spots specifically built for skates/boards etc. A store that sells boards in Worester should definitely know. In my town they have a store and that's the first place you always see skaters hanging around. They get kicked off the sidewalk in front of it when there's too many of them. But everyone expects them to be there too. They must even have like an indoor gym or two they might sometimes use in one or two towns. Worchester has the Centrum and some other stuff. There just HAS to be at least a few professional skate competitions to watch there during the summer. I'd expect maybe lots of local info gets printed n brought there too.
