how safe is north common st in lynn MA?
Question:
a girl i am talking to lives on the corner of north common st in Lynn Massachusetts... she wants me to come over... She's black, I'm white...that doesn't bother me or anything, but its fact... I'm pasty white, drive a nice black Lexus, wear a button down shirt and slacks for work... I try not to be racist, prejudice or anything like that...but I've been warned not to visit her neighborhood... anyone from Lynn familiar with this area? if i mind my own business, and don't start any trouble, will me and my car be ok? Thanks

Answer:
There are some ignorant people from other nearby towns who like to act like Lynn is so scary and dangerous, when it really isn't. That is not a great neighborhood, I'll be honest, but if you just use common sense and a normal amount of caution, you should be fine. It doesn't matter that you're white, it's a diverse area, you won't stick out.

i have an unregistered car in my drive way is it illegal?
Question:
i live in lynn, massachusetts and have my unregistered car parked in my private driveway and am wondering what the ordinance is on this and if i could run into any legal issues. please only serious answers. thanks

Answer:
Any vehicle you own must be registered. If it has a license plate on it, then it also must be insured. Being on your private property does not negate those laws.

Money making ideas for teens?
Question:
I'm 14 in Lynn Massachusetts. I don't have a job permit yet. I've considered the old fashion; Dog walking (people already walk their own dogs) Baby sitting (older siblings already do that) Car washing (rains a lot here) Garage sale/selling items (Lynn is too ghetto) Online things (too complicated for me) Shovel snow/rake leaves (It's Summer) Mow grass (not many yards in Lynn) I need money for school supplies, I've run out of ideas. Please help?

Answer:
Why not consider picking up dog droppings as a part of your own business? You can earn upwards of $20 an hour, and all you need are a few tools a bicycle, and perhaps a bicycle trailer. This article talks about it and how a woman in Colorado quit her management job to do it. http://squidoo.com/TeenJobsInABadEconomy ♂♀

Different locations in Boston?
Question:
I am writing a short story and I wish to place in the Boston area. I am not from Boston and would like a little help with the area. I wish to have my main character live in a "run-down" house, that has the Massachusetts forest directly behind the house. Currently I am thinking a West Lynn area may be appropriate. It doesn't have to be a "poor" neighborhood, just a neighborhood where an old not-well-maintained house could believably be located. I am mostly looking for a neighborhood that would not be considered a "rich neighborhood" with big expensive houses and cars. But a neighborhood that someone could see a struggling single mother moving into when downsizing from a nicer home. Is west Lynn OK? Is there a better place that I could consider? The closer to Boston the better, but it is essential that the forest be directly behind the house. I understand it is hard to get "dense" forests behind a house the closer to the heart of Boston one gets. THANKS! All input/suggestions is appreciated!

Answer:
West Lynn is good because of the Lynn Woods Reservation. The woods are pretty dense and unpopulated except on weekends. West Lynn itself is plenty rundown. It's a place where people move in because it's dirt cheap, and most people move out as soon as they can. Loaded with gangs, druggies, elderly, single parents, immigrants, and people who grew up there. Check the demographics to see if it's too downscale for you. I used to commute to Boston from near the Lynn Common for many years. Also look at the area around Malden/Medford in the Middlesex Fells. If you want to get closer, you can find small bits of dense woods in the Emerald Necklace such as Olmstead's Woods, the Arnold Arboretum, Franklin Park, or the Allandale woods. That would give you neighborhoods like Jamaica Plain, parts of Dorchester, all good areas with few expensive anything and lots of rentals. Go to http://maps.google.com/ , put in Franklin Park Boston Ma, and look at the area under the satellite tab.
