I got hit by a car and?
Question:
(in order for me to ask you my question i have to describe to you what happened so please be patient and read this entire post, my question will be more torward the bottom, thanks!)Okay so Thursday of this week i was comming back home from the mall and got dropped off by the bus at the station wich is about a 20 minute walk from my home. And as i walked torward home me and my friend realised the sidewalks were covered in 4ft+ snow and we were forced to walk on the side of the road(and because the town didnt plow the sidewalks i was thinking that in a way they are at fault? let me know what you think). As we were walking i was behinf my friend and i got slammed from behind and i dont remember much of what happened but i do know that my left arm was kind of swinging behind me when i got hit and my elbow was forced into me lower left side of my back and i was thrown into a snowbank. The driver turned around and came back asking if i needed an ambulance, i was in too much shock to realise i was even in pain at all. I struggled to stand up from the snow bank and then said "no im not in pain at all its fine" but i had my friend get his liscence plate number anyway, and i also got a very good look at him, he was as tall as my shoulders and he was red headed with a small beard. As i continued to walk home about 3 minutes before i got to my house i was in excrutiating pain and ive had back pains since i was younger but nothing this severe, the crash made my pains much worse. The last two nights i tossed and turned in bed and was in massive amounts of pain and constantly felt dizzy, and the night i got hit i went to the police station because my stubborn father thought "i have to report it to the police before we go to the hospital" and when we got to the police station i gave them my info, told them what happened, and gave them the liscence plate number. I said the car that hit me looked like a ford explorer and the cop told me the number came up as a van, now, i dont know about anyone else, but being hit from behind and feeling confused/scared a van from behind 'COULD' look like an suv, especially when you feel like your in a different world. The police officer had the EMT check me out and surprisingly i had no markings on me. Regardless of having no marks, my back is in alot of pain. The EMT said it would be a good ideea to get checked out at the hospital but they are probably going to tell me the same thing he did, i was going to be sore for the next few days, so i then decided to go home and sleep it off for the next few days but my pains havnt reduced one bit and i was going to see my personal doctor and have him check me out.(the main reason i didnt go to the hospital is because i am SCARED so badly of the hospital and not to mention i didnt want to spend new years away from family/friends and have them worrying about me). Now my big question is if i go to the police station today or tommorow and see if they got any information on the driver and i even described what he looked like and it was accurate information, would i then be able to get money for what happened? Especially if my doctor says that theres something wrong with me? Is the town even at fault at all for not plowing the sidewalks? And i also wanted to know if because i have no markings will the law think im a lier about my back pains if i do take this to the courts? Thankyou, please give me the best information you can! (oh, i forgot to mention, im not sure if it makes a difference but this happened in the town of Holbrook, in the state of Massachusetts).

1st, you should have insisted on police asap! and not let the guy leave. 'he' should have also been a man, and insisted you not move and wait on police/rescue. now, your at the mercy of the police to track this guy down, and you'll need to get a lawyer to 'sue' him for damages. but, its 'his word against yours' so this could go back-n- forth in court for awhile. now, the same lawyer can tell you if you havea suit against city but that gets tricky w/ weather...the 'acts of god' and all.. good luck, hope your backs ok, thats the most important thing," you". are you ok? sounds like if you have witnesses, and maybe a video off a store camera or the like, you might have a good case! dont let it go! stay with it, you could be hurt and not know it, back injuries are tricky. good luck.
