What do you do if your car (and you) fall into water? (like a lake or a river)?

Answer:
The most important thing to remember is not to panic!!! Be sure that you release your safety belt, though if there is a drop...leave the belt on to help keep you in your seat for the impact if any. Once you are in the water and your car has settled, release your safety belt. Most cars now come with electric windows which will disabled once water reaches the eletronics. With that being said, try as soon as you can to get out through the windows. If you cannot get out through the windows....then try the door. At first, the water pressure will probably hold it closed but once it rises within the cabin of the car, it will equalize and the door should open. If your windows and doors are enabled to open, then sit in the front seat and place both of your feet on the windshield and push. The entire windshield should come out as one piece. This method should be used as a last resort as it will send water rushing into the cabin. If this is used, take the deepest breath you can and swim to the surface quickly. Also, during all of this.....praying might not be a bad idea. I hope you were just wondering and will never experience this.

If your car falls into a river....?
Question:
I drive over a river to get to almost everywhere with me mom and i always worry about our car crashing and flipping into the river im a very paranoid person.what could we do if the car did fall in the river to stay safe and alive

Answer:
If you're really that paranoid.. Always drive over the river with open window, as car doors are suctioned shut by water pressure pushing against the door. And I don't know If you've ever tried but trying to break a car window with bare bones is f****** impossible. I wouldn't try swimming out of a car with broken glass jabbing out of the window anyway, the risk for getting cut would be greater than drowning.

I live in Fall River, MA - question about Hurricane Irene?
Question:
I'm more worried about the flooding, power outages, and aftermath then anything ... I have a 20 month old to worry about, I have a very well supplied emergency kit and everything else ready in case we have to leave for any reason [which i don't think we will, but you never know] ... yes i know i'm probably over reacting but i've never been through anything of this sort, give me a northeaster and i'm ok, mention hurricane not ok lol ... any advice as to what i should be prepared for and/or what else i should do?!?!, what do i do with my windows? what about car windows? should i take my ac's down? ... needless to say, i'm scared :[ ...please and thank you

Answer:
Quick run to the store and buy a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread.... PS... proably would not hurt to take down the AC. That way you can properly close the window and you won't have to worry about flying debrie damaging the unit.

Why are there always license plates in the ocean in movies?
Question:
Is it just a movie thing or are there actually a bunch of license plates lying around the ocean for some reason? And if so why? I can understand rivers because cars might fall into them but not the ocean... Like in Forrest Gump when they're shrimping and they only get a license plate and a dead fish I think? Or when they cut open a shark in (maybe Jaws?) and it ate a license plate.

Answer:
My first thought is that some people might try to reuse a license plate off a car by switching it out with a stolen car's plate. Here in Detroit, we have that a lot!. So maybe people, in the past, have thrown their old plates away in the ocean, sea, or river so that no one would be able to retrieve it, unlike if it ended up in a land fill. EDIT: I agree that the odds of snagging a discarded license plate with a fish hook or fishing net is probably slim.

Answer:

Should it be required to wear seat belts?
Question:
Its your choice if you choose to wear a seat belt or not, so why should the cops fine you for not wearing one. Besides if you fall into a river or your car catches fire, its harder to get out of the car.

Answer:
Yes you should wear seatbelts. If you fall in a river without the seatbelt, you would die on impact and not even get a chance to try to get out. Put simply, then: if one is involved in a crash, one is almost always better off wearing a seat belt. However, the probability of being in a crash in the first place may be affected by the fact that the person feels safer, so the overall safety benefit may be offset to some unspecified degree.

car crash, wrong road, falling into river dream ?
Question:
Last night i had a dream that i was driving on a road, i know im not meant to be on this road but i do not recall how i got there all i know is just keep driving fast . to the right of me is a lake as i keep driving i realize the road splits at the end but i am too close to slow down and going to fast to stop so i speed up and try and make the gap to other side. but we fall into the water as we are falling my friend turns to me and asks "you really tried to make it". as we are sinking i can see the sky as the water is filling the car as we go deeper and deeper both of us cannot move but i know i need to jump out and swim I'm a great swimmer as well but i just wont move, breathing becomes hard an feels as if my belly is being pumped. then i wake up panting what the hell does this mean ? P.s my Girlfriend Dreamed of me crashing me car as well on the same day

Answer:
ok as a dream interpreter i will start off telling you that ALL dreams mean nothing! Dreams just express you or your emotions, they express what you feel and what you do in real life. thats why they feel so real. Dreams cannot create people, places and things thats another reason why they feel so real! dreams recall past memory, -for example if you see a person you don't recognize in dreams, you probably saw him before on TV or walking in the street (you probably didn't pay attention to them). Dreams express your emotions and thoughts in a negative way Nothing. The dream was about nothing. dreams mean nothing they just express your emotions and feelings in a symbolic way. Dreams are simple synapses in your brain firing off all sorts of things. Your brain gathers all this random information, sights, sounds and so forth. And as you are sleeping, these sights and essentially memories are jumbled up into one big mess, just random nonsense, and your brain works and works for an hour or so trying to create a nice little story with all of these sights and sounds because it wants to make sense of it. It wants to make sense out of nonsense! So, then you end up with this dream. This happens several times in one night but when you wake up, you forget all of them, and when you do remember one of them, when you do remember at least one dream, we try to make sense of it. We tell ourselves, what is this? What could it mean. When in reality, it means nothing, it is just complete nonsense. So stop trying to make sense of it, it is nothing! Dreams are a succession of images, ideas, emotions and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. What does it feel like to drown or suffocate?
Question:
Okay, so I'm writing a book and in this book it's a storm and two characters are driving a car when they fall into the river. What would it be like to be stuck in a car at the bottom of a river bed? I know you wouldn't be able to open a door because of the water pressure, but how would dying like that feel? More like suffocating or drowning? In detail please ^^ I've already written it but I need to revise it in case i make any mistakes.

Answer:
If I was writing a scene like that, I'd probably describe it something like this... I scream as our car skids off the road, tumbling through the icy rain before striking the surface of the river. Water streams into the vehicle through any cracks it can find, and the liquid is soon up to my knees. I struggle with my seatbelt, finally getting it unbuckled. The water is up to my chest. I bang on the windows, and try to roll them down so we can get out, but the lever is stuck. The door is shut firmly too, the water pressing in on it from the outside. I manage to take a gulp of air just before the water is up over our heads. The car has settled on the riverbed now, it's not moving anymore. I look at my friend, and our eyes meet. We're going to die down here...there's no way out now. My lungs are burning for air, and I try to take a breath, only succeeding in sucking in water. My head is pounding, and I can feel the pressure around us. There are spots dancing in my vision. 'What a terrible way to die...' I think, as my world slowly fades to black. I know it's probably nothing like what you wrote, but hopefully it'll help you describe things. ;)
