I know the metro's an option, as well as driving myself, but say I don't have access to a car? And what if I leave the concert AFTER the metro closes? If i do use the metro, how long would it take me?

I-270 to I-495 to Braddock Road to the Patriot Center. Metro goes nowhere near GMU and unless the concert is on a Friday night when Metro runs until 3 AM, I wouldn't recommend Metro any other day. There is the Fairfax CUE bus but service basically ends when rush hour ends. The website may give you better ideas as to accessibility.

If you aren't driving, check your proximity to a metro station, and make sure there is a bus route there if you aren't at walking distance. The website is http://www.wmata.com . If you will work in NW near Tenleytown, Grosvenor and Rockville are probably better. If you are working closer to Capitol Hill or Georgetown, Virginia will probably be better. I think that all the places you have picked are close enough to shopping, etc. that you won't have any big problems, but check that out on yahoo maps, especially if you want a grocer you can walk to every other day rather than taking a cab back from once a week. Most of those are big streets, so a specific answer isn't possible--First street runs through two zip codes, parts of which don't have much nearby, while other parts are in the middle of everything.

Where should I live near Bethesda, Maryland?

I will move to Bethesda, Maryland, and work in a Navy base(Cardrock. I guess only Ride on 32 bus going to there), so where should I live? Any suggestions? I don't have a car, but I will buy one in a few month. So for the first few months, I will reply on the public transportation, so I am considering a place, which is close to Ride on 32 bus station, and also easy for parking(when I buy a car). I don't know much about Maryland, but I do know it is hard to park in New York City. Is it Rockville MD close to Ride on bus station? 20 minutes walking distance is fine for me. I don't know the bus system in that area, but I do know that Bethesda is only about 5 miles away from Carderock. Rockville is about 10 miles away, and Ellicott city is about 30 miles away. The suburb of Glen Echo is a little closer to Caderock than Bethesda is, but I've never been to Glen Echo so I can't say if it's a nice area to live in. You should live in downtown Bethesda if possible. Can Anyone in the state of Maryland Tell me if there is an organization that helps with partial subsidize rent?

I am a book keeper living in the Rockville/Silver Spring area, which the rent is very high. I make just under 40,000 a year. I still live with my mother and grandmother becuase I can only afford to pay monthly incidentals ex. Cell phone bill, Rent, Student Loan, Car insurance, groceries, gas. and the financing of a new used car. I can't afford to pay montly incidentals, finance a newly used car, and pay complete rent at the same time, along with grocery food. I would be either over my monthly income, or just be left with a few dollars at the end of the month. I am studing to get my CPA License which means I will make twice as much as I am making now. But it will take me about 2 years from now. I am not asking for complete subsidizing, but at least partial subsidizing. That could help me between now and the time I become a CPA. I have had in the past co-workers and friends from college use these benefits while either making low income or while in school. I should have asked them, but I guess I did not feel like I needed that info at that time. Now I do.

You are not low-income so I dont think you qualify for any financial help. In your situation, you can dump the new car and get a used one and you don't have to have a cell phone and get a forebearance on paying your student loan until you are making more $$.

Feds move to seize 4 mosques, tower linked to Iran: what are your opinions?

NEW YORK – Federal prosecutors took steps Thursday to seize four U.S. mosques and a Fifth Avenue skyscraper owned by a nonprofit Muslim organization long suspected of being secretly controlled by the Iranian government. In what could prove to be one of the biggest counterterrorism seizures in U.S. history, prosecutors filed a civil complaint in federal court against the Alavi Foundation, seeking the forfeiture of more than $500 million in assets. The assets include bank accounts; Islamic centers consisting of schools and mosques in New York City, Maryland, California and Houston; more than 100 acres in Virginia; and a 36-story glass office tower in New York. Confiscating the properties would be a sharp blow against Iran, which has been accused by the U.S. government of bankrolling terrorism and trying to build a nuclear bomb. A telephone call and e-mail to Iran's U.N. Mission seeking comment were not immediately answered. Nor was a call to the Alavi Foundation. It is extremely rare for U.S. law enforcement authorities to seize a house of worship, a step fraught with questions about the First Amendment right to freedom of religion. The action against the Shiite Muslim mosques is sure to inflame relations between the U.S. government and American Muslims, many of whom are fearful of a backlash after last week's Fort Hood shooting rampage, blamed on a Muslim American major. The mosques and the skyscraper will remain open while the forfeiture case works its way through court in what could be a long process. What will happen to them if the government ultimately prevails is unclear. But the government typically sells properties it has seized through forfeiture, and the proceeds are sometimes distributed to crime victims. Prosecutors said the Alavi Foundation managed the office tower on behalf of the Iranian government and, working with a front company known as Assa Corp., illegally funneled millions in rental income to Iran's state-owned Bank Melli. Bank Melli has been accused by a U.S. Treasury official of providing support for Iran's nuclear program, and it is illegal in the United States to do business with the bank. As prosecutors outlined their allegations against Alavi, the Islamic centers and the schools they run carried on with normal activity. The mosques' leaders had no immediate comment. Parents lined up in their cars to pick up their children at the schools within the Islamic Education Center of Greater Houston and the Islamic Education Center in Rockville, Md. No notices of the forfeiture action were posted at either place as of late Thursday. At the Islamic Institute of New York, a mosque and school in Queens, two U.S. marshals came to the door and rang the bell repeatedly. The marshals taped a forfeiture notice to the window and left a large document sitting on the ground. After they left a group of men came out of the building and took the document. The fourth Islamic center marked for seizure is in Carmichael, Calif. The skyscraper, known as the Piaget building, was erected in the 1970s under the shah of Iran, who was overthrown in 1979. On the second conviction he was sentenced to one year in jail of which nine months was suspended with supervised probation. A 42-year-old El Salvadoran national convicted of DUI and sentenced to one year probation was arrested at his home in Rockville, Md. In addition to the DUI conviction, he has also been arrested for manufacture or delivery of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to deliver, and conspiracy to manufacture or deliver a narcotic. These charges are currently pending.” Of course, as a direct result of Maryland’s continued lax attitude toward illegal immigration, the state’s sanctuary cities and lack of cooperation with federal authorities--crimes committed by illegal aliens have recently soared all over the state. Additionally, the Maryland State Board of Education does not allow county school districts to count the number of illegal alien students registered in their respective districts. In August, the Prince William County, Virginia, police department announced they carried out 2,138 DUI arrests in 2009. Furthermore, 286 of those arrests, or 13 percent of those charged with the offense, were illegal aliens. On August 1, Prince William County police arrested Carlos A. Martinelly Montano, 23, after he slammed head on into a car in which three Benedictine nuns were traveling. Sister Denise Mosier was killed instantly, her two companions were taken by helicopter to the hospital where they both remain in serious condition. Montano was charged with DUI and involuntary manslaughter. It was actually Montano’s third DUI arrest in Prince William County over the last five years. At the time of the crash, the illegal alien was free on bond while awaiting deportation proceedings. The case has received national attention and has many Americans calling for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s resignation.
