I need to get from Freehold, New Jersey to Aberdeen, Maryland. What public transportation can I use? Question: I have no car and would like to go visit my boyfriend who recently moved to Aberdeen Maryland. Is there any feasible way to get from here to there? Answer: Sort of. As someone else noted, there's an Amtrak station in Aberdeen, so the trick is to get to a train station. The least painful would be to find someone willing to take you to the train station in Trenton, which is about 45 minutes away. If you need an all-transit trip, the problem is that the buses from Freehold all go north, so you have to do what the Google map below shows, take the 139 bus up rte 9, then the 818 bus to New Brunswick, and the train from there. |

Question about Jappotowne Maryland(harford county)? Question: I got an offer in Aberdeen Proving Ground, and would like to move to Jappotowne maryland, but the big problem is that I DO NOT have a car(I will buy a car when I get to MD), how can I move from New York City to Jappotowne? There is bus from NYC to Baltimore. If going to Baltimore, how can I go from Baltimore to Jappotowne? Thank you very much! Answer: You can take Amtrak from New York to Edgewood, MD. From there it's 4 miles to Joppatowne (the second vowel is an a not an o). Bus really isn't an option. So you'll have to get a taxi. |

Need to rent a room near Edgewood, Maryland? Question: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=edgewood,+maryland&ie=UTF8&hq =&hnear=Edgewood,+Harford,+Maryland&ll=39.393755,-76.280479&spn=0 .092066,0.21904&z=12 Got an offer in Aberdeen army base, and not sure where to live. Probably should be Edgewood community. There is no category about MD, so I put it under DC, thank you. Never been to there before, I have too many questions: 1. Please suggest a community for living(studio preferred, hope under $800 per month, or shared apartment), any good websites for looking for a room? Supermarket close by. 2. I don't have a car, and don't have money to afford a car soon. So need to live as close as possible, not sure about the public transportation there. Maybe I need to buy a bicycle for the first two months, then buy an used car. What kind of road around Aberdeen army base? Highway? Can I ride my bicycle on the road? Where can I buy an used car nearby? Do they deliver the car(I took the road test and got my driver license, but don't really drive, need a few more days of practice)? 3. Any public library in edgewood? Printing some forms, like phone bill with new address for MD driver license. Thank you very much! Answer: Here is everything you want to know about Edgewood, Md. http://www.city-data.com/city/Edgewood-Maryland.html |

How does my Teen Story Sound? Please read, I need some advice? Question: Okay, just for a first note: this is just a rought outline of the story. this is supposed to have a hint of mystery and I did not list all of the details of the story because I don't want this thing too long. And I know it sounds like Maximum Ride a tiny bit, so don't bother commenting if you're just going to tell me that, thank you. Also, I'm only 13, so cut me a tiny bit of slack if it sounds dicey. Jackie Wolf - main character Devin Wolf - Jackie's brother Coal Shay - Jordan and Devin's old friend Jordan Cooper - Devin and Coal's old friend who went missing a long time ago with no warning Violet Flore (Emily Shay) - Coal's sister who went missing with her father when their house exploded, killing their mother Charles Flore (Thomas Shay) - the scientist behind everything including Jackie's flight ability. Jackie wakes up in a strange hospital in Chicago where she overhears that her doctor, Dr. Flore, wants to kill her before she can escape and tell the world about his secret organization. He steals one last vial of her DNA before she escapes with her brother Devin, a 16 and 14 year old roaming the streets of Chicago alone. Devin takes her back to the orphanage he lives at, explaining that their parents were killed by a mysterious murderer when they were younger. After meeting Coal, and hearing what he has to say about things, she becomes confused and wishes to leave, start over where she isn't worrying about anything but school work and how her hair looks. She steals two hundred dollars from the orphanage, feeling bad about it and takes a train to Port Huron, Michigan from Chicago, getting a fake ID that says she's 16. She meets a boy named Alex White on the train who gives her a ride home in his cousin Danny's car. She lives in Lexington, meeting a girl named Bridgette and a boy named Logan who help her out and give her a place to stay under the gazebo by the gas station. The longer she stays in Lexington, the more time she spends with Danny, and the more she gets to like him. She goes to school for a few months when a helicopter swoops in over Lexington and two people jump out, a man and a woman, and steal Danny just as Jackie and Danny are about to kiss. The woman tells her she has three days to get to New York City or Danny, Coal, and Devin will be dead. She uses the remainder of her money to buy a train ticket from Port Huron to Aberdeen, Maryland where she doesn't have any more money, and she only has two days left to get to New York City. While sitting on the edge of a rocky shoreline cliff in Maryland, she discovers her amazing ability of flight. She flies all the way to NYC where she kills Flore and learns his true identity, Thomas Shay, also known as Coal's father, and Violet Flore is Coal's sister, Emily. Emily then leaves with Jackie's DNA, and Jackie has a slight idea of what she could do with it... Sorry it's so long. I'm missing a lot of information still, but I don't know if this is even worth writing... I mean, so far it's 50 pages long with 3 chapters... and I already have the entire series planned out; I've been working on this outline since I was 9 I'm also contemplating whether or not the whole flying concept is cliche because it comes along so suddenly... I mean, there will be clues throughout the story mentioning that she can fly, but she doesn't realize it until the end. I've also already planned out all five books in the series, all the way down to Juliette's death. So, please just help me out by telling me if you like it or not, thank you! actually, this is a fantasy book because everyone knows that flying isn't real... well, for people anyway :P Answer: The truth is that I'm a little confused about whats going on. However, that may just be because you wrote the whole entire outline in a brief paragraph. I think that it has great potential and you have worked so hard on it, so don't stop! :D By the way, if there are enough clues throughout the book, then the flying may not be so bad. But i'm confused on the genre.... Is it sci-fi or a mystery? If you are going for more of a mystery, then I don't suggest that you add the flying. Anyway, I hope this helps! |

Would you read a fantasy book about a flying girl, or is it too cliche? Answer: I think that the story has a few flaws in how the characters react and a little complicated for a reader to follow. I haven't read the Maximum Ride book series, but this does lack some originality that you could improve on. Maybe the character's relationships will help give this story a good push in the right direction. I'm glad that a young writer like yourself is seeking advice, I feel this way too when I write a story. |

Need some advice: should I keep writing this book, or start again from scratch? Answer: It sounds pretty interesting. I would have to read it to see how you put in the flight thing to decide if it's cliche or not (from this short descibtion, it DOES sound like it was tossed in there for convenience, but like you said, you didn't put in all the information). If you alread know what you're doing and if you like it so far, then do it!! Get people you know to read it even and get their opinion on it. (THIS IS A TEEN FANTASY BOOK) thanks for the advice rainy days. the first book was meant to be slower, and the Dr. Flore person isn't the only enemy. There are three others, Juliette, Emily, and Nicholas still left. I think I forgot to mention him. If you could actually read the story though, the way I see it in my head, the scene would not be the same as the rich guy in a car... Answer: The flying isn't a great idea... sorry. I read a book once, called "How Not to Write a Novel" which has a section about this. Basically, it's like the author is digging themselves out of a hole by inventing a new character, or in this case, an ability, to save the day. In the book, I believe that their example went like this: in the midst of the climax of the plot, the protagonist and some attractive woman he found along the way have no way of escaping, it looks like their doomed... when a rich man in a nice car drives up, lets them in, and says their worries are over, and that he would fix everything for them. The End. Basically, you can't do that (if you want the novel to be good). Either think of something else (usually with some failed attempts to kill the bad guy a few times before succeeding, but at the same time sacrificing something important to do it), or scrap the whole idea and start anew! |

Can i be a police officer with 4 Dui's on my record? Question: I know you are probably saying no way in hell. But please explain this to me. In Aberdeen Maryland, a man with 4 previous DUI's on his record recently got into his 5th DUI. In his 5th DUI, he slammed into someone's car out on the highway, killing them. And, then, he fled the scene. But, alas, his bumper was left at the scene of the accident, with his license plate attached to it. So, they were able to quickly track down the culprit. His name is Officer Dane Patrick Hall. Glistam- I knew he got them while we was working. Which is worse in my eyes. Than them hiring him in with 4 DUI's. It was more of an intro to asking my question. Answer: I read about this, the case was just decided this past July. Hall got 1 and half years in prison, 5 years supervised probation, $6000 in fines, and 750 hours of community service. He is now a convicted felon and will never get a job anywhere in the US save a few lowly jobs here and there. Why did they hire him? Well it appears he actually did not have any prior DUIs, according to the sources I've looked up, including court records for the state of Maryland. Where did you hear he has prior DUIs? It appears that part wasn't true. |
