What to do in Portland and the Oregon coast?
Question:
I'll be taking the train from Vancouver, BC to Portland sometime in August. We'll be situated in Portland for 4 days. One of the days we plan on renting a car and driving to the coast. Questions: Are the food carts really as good as people say? Any recommendations on where to eat? What part of the coast is best to drive, north, middle, south? Best photography? Thanks :)

Answer:
For your short trip to the coast you might go to the Tillamook Area. There is the Air Museum and the County Museum, which is amazing considering the size of the building it is in. It also has the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Neatarts which is on the coast has the Cape Meares Light house which you can walk down to and go inside. Photo ops are rich. You could also go down to Cape Lookout and hike down to the end of the cape and be nearly on the Ocean itself. Or you can go to the Camp Ground and walk the beach in the day use area or camp. For free you can hike the beach at Oceanside and walk through a cut in the cape to get to a different beach. Food in the area is well with in the norms for the coast. The Cheese Factory has a pretty good breakfast, the Air Musuem has a really good diner, The Schooner on Neatarts Bay is also very good.

Question:
I am travelling from the Portland Amtrak station to this address: 535 South Bridgton Road Bridgton, ME 04009

Answer:
I think you are out of luck. There doesn't appear to be any bus service in that area. Call the place you are going and ask them, or call Bridgton Municipal Complex, (207) 647-8786.

Answer:
Take a rain coat and umbrella and don't tell strangers so much information about yourself. And how can you apply to a school and not know where it's located? Don't they have maps there? I don't think you are going to fit in. Better keep quiet the first few weeks.

what is the best route for driving from washington, dc, to portland, oregon, in january or february?
Question:
i am moving from dc to portland in the next few months. i'll be driving in a 98 saturn and will have at least my dog with me and probably my 2 cats, as well. it'll be tough no matter what, but i'd like to avoid the extra stress of bad winter storms and mountain roads. if i need to go south, i'm willing to add some time to my trip. i'll follow the usual precautions of being prepared to sleep in the car for a day or two (the pets will LOVE that) and have tire chains at the ready, just in case. also, if anyone knows of national hotel/motel chains that allow pets, i'd love to know who they are. thanks to any who can offer advice.

Answer:
u bet take I-95 south turn right on I-4 turn right on 192 and you are here at Disney World! Was I close? seriously, just helped my sister move with two cats stayed at a ramada inn, extended stay, forgot the other two but each listing - on the internet - should list if pets are acceptable now as far as a snow route to avoid I am a flatland tourist - will have to ask someone else AAA member? now is a great time to join trip tiks are worth their weight in gold and MOTEL discounts discounts to Disney (shut up, tom) all the best

any advice for public transportation in the seattle/burien area?
Question:
i live in portland, ore, and want to buy a car from seattle area. what is the best and cheapest way to get to this area address using public transportation from portland? 1st Avenue South, Burien, WA 98168

Answer:
While you could use public transit all the way from Portland to Burien several transfers would be required. The systems connect in Vancouver, Salmon Creek, Longview, Olympia and finally Tacoma. But honestly to save time and for just a little more cost try an Amtrak Cascades train from Portland to Seattle then take a Metro bus #120 to Burien.

follow up questions regard my previous post hit and run fender bender. Should I take the lawyers advice?
Question:
so previously I posted a question concerning a hit and run I had yesterday in which I was at fault. I regret it 100 percent, but I honestly financially cannot deal with th repercussions. For the first time since I was 14 I have an apartment, Im going to college, and I have a good job. Yesterday I was over tired (seeing that I drive to work at 445 am and dont come home from school/work till about 10pm. and fell asleep at the wheel. I lightly hit the car in front of me at a stop light..panicked thinking I have no glasses which can be a huge legal situation..and sped off. Biggest problem was..the police station was right there at the victim pulled directly in to report my plate. There is absolutely no damage to my car..nor the victims from what I could see. Today I got a phone call from the south portland police but ignored it. Several attorneys have told me to ignore all contact and not to go in. They say that even with a possible video from the police station (which sat directly across from the light) they may have no hard proof because the "plate isnt stamped on my back" as they put it, and they cant prove who was driving the car. I was told to ignore contact, and if I am pulled over to play dumb, be polite, take the summons and not to make conversation. Should I do this?

Will supporters of illegals protest this-- Man arrested in Times Sq. probe fights deportation?
Question:
BOSTON — A judge on Tuesday scheduled an August deportation hearing for a Pakistani man arrested in Massachusetts on an immigration violation during an investigation of the failed Times Square bombing, finding that he has been living illegally in the country since 1991. Pir Khan, 43, of Watertown, was one of three men arrested last month as authorities followed the money trail in their inquiry about Faisal Shahzad, who's accused of trying to set off a car bomb in New York City on May 1. Authorities have said the men may have given money to Shahzad through a network used by immigrants without knowing how the money would be used. On Tuesday, U.S. Immigration Judge Matthew D'Angelo found Khan is eligible for deportation because he entered the United States illegally through Mexico in 1991. D'Angelo scheduled a hearing for Aug. 10. Khan's lawyer, Saher Macarius, said he'll argue that Khan should be allowed to stay in the United States because he has lived here for more than 10 years without any arrests and that his deportation would pose an "extreme and unusual" hardship for an American woman he married in 2008. Khan, a cab driver, was arrested on May 13, along with his cousin, Aftab Khan, and Mohammad Shafiq Rahman, of South Portland, Maine. All three have been charged with immigration violations. None of the men have been charged criminally in the Times Square plot. Khan applied for political asylum in 1994, but lost that bid to stay in the United States in 2007. He was appealing that ruling. His lawyer said he married a Lewiston, Maine, woman in December 2008. Macarius, who represents both Pir Khan and Aftab Khan, said both men vehemently deny having any connection to Shahzad. But during a hearing last month, an official from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that Shahzad's cell phone number was stored in Aftab Khan's phone and written on an envelope seized from his possessions. An immigration judge ordered Aftab Khan deported last week. Macarius said he will appeal the ruling. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ib_fj8 uy3L29st8d61Wk32WKV_JAD9G2N6S82

Answer:
Gee, an illegal immigrant tied to wanting to blow America up. What a shocker! Reminds me of that date, what was that date, oh yeah, 9-11. Maybe we should listen to all of the illegal immigrant advocates and offer him a path to citizenship....no thanks. Pir Khan and Faisal Shahzad are no different than many of the illegal immigrants that come from south of the border. They should all be considered terrorists. How is killing thousands of Americans annually not considered terrorism! Wake up America! Did you hear me? Wake up! Thousands of Americans killed annually by illegal immigrants. Figure it out already. If you support illegal immigrants, go explain yourself to the families and friends of the deceased. Go explain the Cost to Benefit Ratio to them.....how paying taxes used to support illegal immigrants and how rewarding illegal immigrants with citizenship is worth more than the life of their husband, wife, child, sister, brother, etc. Illegal immigrants kill....it's a fact. Illegal immigrant anchor babies kill....it's a fact. Neither, should be here in the first place!
