what is the distance between lafayette, louisiana and rochester,NY?
Question:
how much time and money will it take to reach rochester from lafayette by car

Answer:
It is about 1400 miles by road, which is about 28 hours of driving (counting stops for restroom & fuel but not sit-down meals or sleep). At 20 miles per gallon it would take about 70 gallons of gasoline, which is about $200 in fuel costs, one way.

will a taxi cab take me from metarie/new orleans louisiana to lafayette louisiana?
Question:
i may need a ride from metarie/new orleans to lafayette this weekend and i was wonderingg if a taxi would take me that far or if id like have to rent a car..

Answer:
Yes, a taxicab will take you to Lafayette from New Orleans. However, it will be very expensive (135 miles each way). Consider taking Greyhound to Lafayette if you don't want to rent a car: www.greyhound.com

Where can I find info on towing laws in Louisiana on Interstate highways?
Question:
To be specific, the car was towed off the side of I-10 in Lafayette, LA. The car was out of the way of traffic, insured, and posed no danger. It was only there a couple of days before being towed for no apparent reason. I'd like to contest the charges and get my car back. Could someone let me know where I can get more info on the laws concerning towing over the weekend until I can talk to the Public Service Commission.

Answer:
Any unoccupied vehicle on the right of way can be towed simply for being there. The right of way extends at least 100 feet beyond the edge of the pavement. If you leave the car to walk to the next exit for gas, it is legal for the car to be towed. Don't bother contesting the charges. The fact your car was towed off the Interstate is conclusive proof of what you were charged with. Pay your fines and get on with your life.

Cash Car Rentals in Louisiana?

Lifting a 2005 nissan altima 2 inches?
Question:
I have a 2005 nissan altima and I put 20 inch rims on it I am wanting to lift the car about 2 inches. Does anyone know a place around lake charles or lafayette louisiana that does this.I live in Kinder.

Answer:
Well you might be able to get this lift height from "Air shocks" or you may need to replace the stock springs. these two would be the least expensive...Air bags require alot of mods and $. I think you can fit the 20 inchers without the lift. ask your wheel shop and or call a Nissan dealer. Best wishes... "/JOe

where to get a $4000.00 Car Loan?
Question:
[Lafayette, Louisiana area] Currently i have never financed a thing so i have no credit and no cosigner. looking at getting a used chevy s10. any ideas where i can get the loan? or if i can get it.

Answer:
When you start looking for places that specialize in auto loans, what you want to use is some kind of broker instead of just one company. A broker can submit your application to multiple lenders all at the same time. Those lenders then make offers and compete for your business, and you just pick the deal that suits you the most, or none if that's the case. The site listed in my source below has links to three brokers who specialize in auto loans for people with bad credit. It's a scam review site, and it speaks positively of all three brokers so maybe you should give it a try. Brokers are great because it's free to use their services.

okay so im 17 and want a new car?!?
Question:
i currently have a 1996 maxima ughhh. it runs HORRIBLE:( im starting a job probably making 400 a month about as a waitress. i dont need to worry about any other payments, just car and 100 insurance. id be satisfied with a 04/05 or newer. im looking into kia's and honda's. is there any car like this where my payments would be less than 200 dollars a month if i put down 2000 for my down payment? pics? something?! btw i live in lafayette louisiana.

Answer:
All personal comments aside, try Autotrader.com. They have a pretty nifty calculator that can give you a roundabout estimate of what your payment would be including interest and down payment. I would also suggest looking for a used Toyota, as well as your original choices.

How to get rid of an abandoned car?
Question:
We have an empty grass lot that sits at the end of our road. We own the land, but do not have any buildings or anything else on it, just two large NO PARKING signs, that say we will tow all vehicles. About a month ago, someone left a '96-99 honda accord on our lot. No one will tow the vehicle, because they're scared no one will pick it up and they'll be stuck with it. Anyway, the other day we looked inside the vehicle and found some mail with an address for one of our neighbors. We went to their house to ask them about the vehicle and a woman told us it belongs to her son and he does'nt live with her. She said he does not know what he wants to do with it yet and that he recently bought a new vehicle. Well, after two more weeks and a wasted call to local police to report it, the car it still sitting there, so we went back to talk to the lady and she said her son is real busy and she will talk to him again. The city has sent notices saying they will fine us for the abandoned vehicle and the grass growing around it. They said they won't pick up the vehicle and it's our responsibility to do something with it. What should we do? I know the laws and ordinances vary all over the country, but we really dont care if we have to drag it into the road and leave it there, so all suggestions, besides blowing it up, would be appreciated. We live in Lafayette, Louisiana....just in case you know someone who cares...we don't. We cant give it away or sell it because it takes to long before it would be legally ours and we would pull it in front of the ladies house, but its in park, so any suggestions on how to get it in neutral would be great.

Answer:
That is a problem, since because you are not the owner, you can't sell it or have it towed for parts or anything. The cops didn't care it was abandoned? I would have thought they would bring it to their impound lot. I guess I would hand delivered a certified letter to mom to deliver to sonny boy that says you have 48 hours to remove this car and clean up the lot. If you fail to do so, I will charge you 25/day (or whatever the going rate is) for storing your car. Make it retro to when it got dumped there. Alternatively, can you and some buddies push it into mom's driveway and let it be her problem? I think you could be forgiven breaking a window if it is all locked up tight.
