Is the commute between Louisville to Fort Knox unreasonable?
Question:
My husband and I are being stationed at Fort Knox and I don't know if I will be able to handle "non-metropolitan" living. Especially since I am a bartender and we have one car! I have heard rumors of a commuter rail with no confirmation. If anyone has any information on the commute or surrounding areas that are more convenient it would be a lot of help! Thanks!

Answer:
No commuter rail known around there. It's not really that far to drive, about an hour. Still, there are bars closer than Louisville.

Why did FDR steal all of our gold and put it in Fort Knox?
Question:
In 1933, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6102, which outlawed the private ownership of gold coins, gold bullion, and gold certificates by American citizens, forcing them to sell these to the Federal Reserve. As a result, the value of the gold held by the Federal Reserve increased from $4 billion to $12 billion between 1933 and 1937.[1] This left the federal government with a large gold reserve and no place to store it. In 1936, the U.S. Treasury Department began construction of the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, Kentucky, on land transferred from the military. The Gold Vault was completed in December 1936 for US $560,000, or $8.5 million in 2009 dollars. The site is located on what is now Bullion Boulevard at the intersection of Gold Vault Road. The first gold shipments were made from January to July 1937. The majority of the United States' gold reserves were gradually shipped to the site, including old bullion and newly made bars made from melted gold coins. Some intact coins were stored. The transfer used 500 rail cars and was sent by registered mail, protected by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.[citation needed] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Knox_Bullion_Deposit ory

Answer:
-Well obviously WE couldn't keep it in "safe-keeping"- if FDR could Steal it All from Us !! ;)

Is there Gold in Fort Knox?
Question:
Protected by a 109,000-acre U.S. Army post in Kentucky sits one of the Federal Reserve’s most secure assets and its only gold depository: the 73-year-old Fort Knox vault. Its glittering gold bricks, totaling 147.3 million ounces (that’s about $168 billion at current prices), are stacked inside massive granite walls topped with a bombproof roof. Or are they? It’s hard to know for sure. Few people have been inside Fort Knox, a highly classified bunker ringed by fences and multiple alarms and guarded by Apache helicopter gunships. When the U.S. finished building Fort Knox in 1937, the gold was shipped in on a special nine-car train manned by machine gunners and loaded onto Army trucks protected by a U.S. Cavalry brigade. And the fort has been pretty much off limits since then. A U.S. Mint spokesman said in an email statement to MoneyWatch that the accounting firm KPMG, which audits the Mint, “has been present in the vault at Fort Knox.” The Mint won’t comment on exactly how much gold is in there, though. That’s why Ron Paul (R-Texas), a 2008 presidential candidate known for his libertarian streak, wants to have a look around. Paul introduced a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, which includes Fort Knox’s gold. “My attitude is, let’s just find out what’s there,” he says. http://moneywatch.bnet.com/economic-news/article/is-ther e-gold-in-fort-knox/385523/ Don't we have the right to know. Why is Ben Bernanke so afraid of an audit. Its not like they are going to close the Central Bank down they are just going to have a look around. That is all. http://www.auditthefed.com/

Answer:
Yes, Fort Knox has the world largest reserve of gold. Ben Bernanke is afraid of an audit of the Federal Reserves because the audit will give the Feds an Adverse Opinion. Also, the audit will discover the incompetency of Ben Bernanke. DTG

PCSing from fort bliss to Kentucky- will the army pay to move vehicle?
Question:
hello. We have chosen to have the army move all of our stuff to fort knox KY. Will they ship a vehicle for us? I have heard yes and I have heard no. I would call someone on base but cannot find the number! Also, we have 2 cars. Is there an option for us to ship the second car as well?

Answer:
No the military will not pay to ship a POV from one Conus duty station to another Conus duty station. If you have two vehicles, then you drive one and your husband drives the other one. Or you can pay to either have someone drive one of your cars to KY, Or you can pay to have your car shipped, talk to a car dealer, they can tell you who to contact.

Why do people have to die in car crashes, before they figure out it's not God's will to have cars?
Question:
Over 40,000 die in car crashes and 3 million are injured by them, every year. If it was God's will to drive, not one would even be injured and all the money in Fort Knox would not be able to pay for that one persons suffering. If you did not die in a car crash, you would have died from a bullet in your head, so why not kill yourself and get it over with?

Answer:
ooookay. if it wasnt "God's will" to have cars, he wouldnt have given the person who invented them the idea or the talent

Why is it so easy for a woman to find a guy, but it when a man is searching it's like Fort Knox?
Question:
I am a good man. I take care of myself and my daughter. I have a job, a car, my own place, I don't do drugs, drink, and I don't hit women. I just don't get it? I've never really had that much luck with women at all my whole life which is leading for me to believe that I am not really attractive. And the last relationship I was in, she really screwed me over more than anyone who I ever loved in my life I could ever think someone could. But why is it so HARD for me to find someone. It seems like NO one is interested in me at all. And I'm just fed up with people saying, "Ohhh, she'll come along when the time is right." Uhhh, NO. I want to be with someone now. I just don't know how to get out there and start dating. It's been over 9 years since the last time I dated. Can anyone help me please?

Answer:
Um, sorry to sound like a jerk, but this doesn't only happen to men- it happens to women also. This is coming from a woman who's been there. I'm not going to say that you are too nice, there's nothing wrong with being a nice guy. If a woman doesn't want to date you because your "too nice" then something is wrong with her. I bet she's never said out loud, "I want to date a jerk", so why walk away from a guy that's nice and obviously has his priorities together. Why don't you not worry about dating so much and try to make friends with women. Start with a dating website and just take your time talking to someone you have things in common with, or going to places where people in your age group share similar interests. What do you like to do in your spare time? (It has to be something that gets you OUT of the house) and try making some friends first and see where it goes. You never know, you could meet a friend who could end up introducing you to your future wife.
