Ninja 250 highway ability for bigger people?
Question:
I've been looking around for a new motorcycle, and I've had my eye on a Ninja 500 or similar sized and styled bike. However getting a bike is contingent on me selling my car, and I'm having a lot more trouble doing this than I expected. Anyway, to sum it up I've run across a few people who would be willing to trade for the 500's smaller brother, the 250. I have nothing against the 250, however, I am genuinely concerned as to whether or not it will be sufficient for what I would need it to do. I know that the 250 can reach highway speeds comfortably, however, I am a bigger person at 6'2" and 220lbs, and I'm really wanting to know if anyone of similar or larger size has any real life experience on whether or not the 250 can handle highway speeds at length without struggling. I also live in Kansas and in the summer I constantly have to deal with headwinds out of the south at 20-30mph, and I'm wondering if this would cause the little ninja to struggle too much. I do a large amount of highway driving, typically around 15miles one way, and I would also be driving between Wichita and Winfield(about 60 miles) with highway speeds between 65 and 75. So again, I'm wondering if anyone has any real life experience with these conditions, as most of the people that have 250's and say they can handle these conditions are considerably smaller than me. Thanks, and keep it rubber side down! As for the Vulcan 500 and Savage 650, I've actually had two bikes already and my last one was a Vulcan 800. I loved it but I sold it so I could get a car for the winter(bad idea, we've had a very warm winter). Anyway, I wanted something with more performance but didn't want to deal with the big weight increase for a more powerful cruiser, so I've been looking in more of the standard, naked and upright sportbike area as they have a considerable performance increase and typically weigh less than my Vulcan 800 did, also I simply want to try out a different style of bike. The Ninja 500 has about 60hp, while the Vulcan 800 has 50hp stock.

Answer:
at your size, you shouldn't be looking at ANYTHING smaller than a 750 and a 250 at highway speeds is scary because the semi's will blow you around. My 1000 isn't much better and I ride all over Missouri/Kansas/Oklahoma the one thing I can do on my 1000 is keep ahead of the semi's, your 250 with your size will have a hard time doing this
