What do I need to do to make myself the best possible candidate for Air Force OTS in 3 years?
Question:
I am just finishing up my Freshman year of college, and I should hopefully end up with an average of around 3.1 or so, but I hopefully will improve that next year, since I made the mistake of trying for an Engineering Major as opposed to Computer Science where I am the most qualified, and I will hopefully get a dual major in Comp Sci and History from Benedictine College in Atchison Kansas, which is a very good, but relatively small school. I also applied for the Air Force Academy, and got Nancy Pelosi's primary nomination before being disqualified by the DoDMerb for Dyslexia, so hopefully the fact I'm not using any accommodations in college should help me get a waiver for that. I am currently the Freshman Class President, in the school's production of Julius Ceaser, and I work over the summer at a Boy Scout Camp in a leadership position, and hopefully next year I will be hired as a Resident Assistant for my dorms. I'm in generally good physical shape, but I could always work out more, though I passed the CFA exam for the Air Force Academy with fairly decent scores. It has been my dream to become and Air Force Officer for a very long time, and I would appreciate anyone's advice on what I can do to make my chances of being accepted higher, the recruiter told me I should enlist, but I'm not sure that would significantly help my chances of being accepted. I'm also interested in figuring out how to get involved in AFROTC, since my college apparently has one in conjunction with a KU but I don't have a car. Thanks!

Answer:
Ots is not a good option at the current time. It might be in three years for an applicant with a computer science degree. There was only one Ots selection board in 2010 with 132 officer candidates selected, 106 civilians and 26 Airmen. The Board only considered rated slots. You should call the Afrotc Detachment. If there are any other Afrotc Cadets at your college, you could commute with them. You can still join before the Fall and then double up the GMC classes during Sophomore year. The PT and Leadership Lab remains the same as if just taking the Sophomore year classes. This will give you a better chance of getting an enrollment allocation for the POC(professional officer's course) than if you were to apply with no Afrotc experience in the fall or early winter of sophomore year. McDonalds Drive Thru Automated Special Telling Voice?
Question:
I have noticed this summer a new female voice on my McDonalds drive thru intercom that only comes on once telling you the special of the day, saying for instance, Hi, Would you like to try a blueberry smoothie today? And, I was talking with my sister in the car just awhile ago tonight, and she heard one of the clerks tell her on the intercom that this voice was automated, and not an actual human female clerk in training. Could this be true, and if so, are there any of you who have a McDonalds that is doing the same thing or something simmilar? BTW, I am from Atchison, Kansas.

Answer:
There are several places in where I live that do that. (Las Vegas) It is normal out here. That is why you never respond. It makes you feel dumb. I think the people inside are laughing that we talk back to a recording. Just wait until the real person comes on.

I need to find a way between Atchison, KS and Lawrence, KS (KU) at least once a week reliably, any ideas?
Question:
I am a Freshman at Benedictine College and I'm taking 3 AFROTC classes over at Kansas University next semester and I need to get their reliably. I work over the summer and I hopefully can accumulate somewhere around 2,000 dollars before the start of next semester and I've considered leasing a car, but it looks like that is way out of my price range, and it seems unlikely I can afford the cost of maintaining a used car.. any suggestions? Thanks :/

Answer:
Get in touch with the commanding officer of the AFROTC program. He or she will be able to help. Car pooling with other students in the same situation may be a solution.
