Travel from West Lafayette IN to Kalamazoo MI?
Question:

Can a 17 year old from Illinois take a weekend vacation to Indiana alone?
Question:
I want to visit my boyfriend who is in collage for a weekend each month. I'm back in the Chicago area and he goes to college in West Lafayette. Is it legal or illegal for me to be able to cross state boarders by myself with my car? Would a 17 year old be able to get ANY hotels or motels to stay in for the night?

Answer:
You can certainly visit another state on your own, but getting a hotel room is impossible at your age. The law says hotels may not give rooms to anyone under age 18. In reality, most hotels won't give a room unless you are 21. You need a driver's license and credit card to get a hotel room.

Why have gas prices gone down rapidly in the past month?

Did we find more oil? Are companies feeling pressure from the government for price gauging? What happened?

Answer:
cause of the new oil find in the gulf of mexico

When buying a used car as your first car, what should I keep a lookout for?
Question:
I'm a college student in Purdue in West Lafayette, IN, and I've recently landed an internship in Minnesota, MN, and I'll most likely have to commute to work there since it's a factory in the middle of nowhere, so I've been contemplating buying a used car, but I'd like to answer some unsettling questions first: - Insurance? I have relatives in Washington, but I have no idea how insurance works so I guess that's another entire question on its own - Mileage? I heard under 50,000 miles for a used car is good, so I've been looking online and saw some pretty decent cars up for sale - Transportation? What I mean by that is how, other than taking a plane or buying a used car, would I get from Purdue to Minnesota? I've thought about renting the car for the short term I'll be there every half year, but it didn't seem like it would help at all financially My dilemma is very confusing, I know, but I was wondering if anyone else here had a similar problem in college and could help me out. Thanks!

Answer:
The first thing you need to know is, am i going to finance or pay cash. What is my budget? If you are pay cash, stick to the limit u have set if any. research and research. the are vehicle with 100000 miles that run just fine. it is all in the up keep of the car. how well was the vehicle i want to buy maintained. If u are financing first go to ur own bank if u have one. in ur area u may want to watch out for flood cars. and get a car fax report if not sure. insurance will depend on your driving record. keep in mind insurance companies will pull ur credit. don't let anyone pull ur credit till u fine the car u want. if u get a car with 50k or less they can be just as costly if the 50k maintenance was not done. check on this also. good luck!

Does anyone know a train route or a bus route that goes from normal, illinois to west lafayette, indiana? My boyfriend is going to illinois state and i am going to purdue university. We don't have cars and need a way of transportation. Thanks!

There is no direct train route. You'll have to go to Chicago and transfer. (Texas Eagle to Hoosier State) With Greyhound, there is a direct bus from Bloomington, IL to Lafayette, IN, but it'll take 9 hours.

Questions about college and Purdue?
Question:
I have decided to go to purdue university in west Lafayette the first thing is is there anything i should definitely know or check out, the next would be about bikes, it is a large campus with 35000 students the question is how many use bikes and what is the main cause for the stolen bikes r they just left unlocked so someone can easily take them the next question would be about cars and what to do and where to park im not quite sure on that issue, and the finally question would be about knives the school says no weapons but a knife is a tool in my eyes, they also do not list knives under the dangerous weapons list, but the list says weapons are not limited to it you dont have to answer all the questions just some would be helpful and much appreciated

Answer:
Things you should definitely know or check out: hmm... I guess there's nothing really I can think about, but feel free to email me if you have a specific question How many use bikes?: there's quite a few people that bike (when it's nice out), and as long as you have a bike lock most likely your bike would be fine. What I would suggest though is going to target or walmart and getting a bike that's only like 50 dollars. my roommate last year did that, and it's probably a good thing cause her bike got stolen at the end of the semester (i think she forgot to lock it though). I personally don't have a bike. the dorms are relatively close to campus and i don't mind walking. Also I've heard of people stealing the bike seats, or cutting the locks... Cars: if you're a freshman living in the dorms you're not allowed to have a car. you can fight for a parking spot on Russell or Waldron St., but you can't always get those since everyone fights for them. Knives: you can't have knives in the dorms, but if you carry a pocket knife, probably no one will care (it's not like they search the dorms unless they have due cause to). so hope that helps you a bit

anyone know a vacation spot/ a place to see between Indiana and New Jersey?
Question:
Hi all, I have a problem to solve. actually my hubby S and i live in NJ and his brother D lives in Indiana. they want to see each other for thanksgiving and exchange their cars but the problem is neither of them want to do the whole road trip of 14 hrs. I suggested that they should meet halfway through but I don't know where we can spend the weekend as a vacation spot. We'll be mostly on Rt 80 from North Jersey and then 65 to West Lafayette. So we're passing PA, OH on Route 80. Can anyone help me solve this problem??? thank youuuu

Answer:
It sounds like you're talking about northeastern Ohio as your halfway point. Although a vast majority of NE Ohio is outdoor driven and will be closed around Thanksgiving, there's still a lot to see and do in the area. Here are 3 of my favorites: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland: http://www.rockhall.com/ Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton: http://www.profootballhof.com/ Cuyahoga Valley National Park: http://www.nps.gov/cuva/ (as a side note, one Cuyahoga McDonald's was built as a 2-story Tudor mansion with a piano and chandeliers)

College and Family?
Question:
My mother wants me to go to Purdue University and whatnot... I got accepted and I would not have a problem going if they allowed me to have a car. Purdue University is 2 hrs away from home and I do not want to be stuck out there with no way home. Now I understand that I can make friends and whatnot to get to take me home, but lord knows how long it would take for me to meet or even build a relationship with them to do something like that for me. Instead, i would rather go to another Purdue Campus (Calumet) where it is 15 away from my home and close to the city (Chicago) where all my family and friends live, plus i can have a car. My mother disagrees with me, but I am not really sure what her arguement is... she just keeps saying,"NO! GO TO WEST LAFAYETTE! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING OUT THERE!" That was before she knew she could only get $25 back out of the $175 she sent to them (West Lafayette). Then she got even more mad. What should I do? Satisfy mom or satisfy myself?

Answer:
Mom wants you out. Just get out and go to college. She will accept it. Maybe stay close the first year and then transfer. But give mom her space.

How do I make my boyfriend see my point of view about a certain situation?
Question:
Sorry, the question is a little weird, but I wasn't sure how to ask it. Here it goes... Today my boyfriend and I spent the whole day in his hometown to pick up his dog, visit his friends & family, and go to a wedding. Considering this place is 2.5 hours from where he lives (just some info, he lives in West Lafayette, IN and I live in Carmel, IN) it was a long day. Prior to today he's been moving into a new apartment and since he doesn't have a car again until November, I happily lent him my car to use for moving tomorrow since I'll be out of town till tomorrow night. When he dropped me off in Carmel tonight I asked him to send me a quick text message as soon as he got home so I knew he safe. I usually don't ask this, but tonight it was super late, he was extremely exhausted, he had his 100lb lab in the backseat, the drive about 45 minutes long, and my car need maintenance. He left at about 12:50AM and by 2:05AM I still hadn't heard anything from him, so I called and no answer. I kept doing this until 2:30AM until his roommate finally got back to me letting me know that he was there. When my boyfriend called he said he had been back for a bit but forgot to text and his phone was over on his desk. Of course I was extremely angry, because I was very worried and I expressed that to him. Of course I raised my voice, but not because I was trying to be a bitch, but because I love and care for him so god damn much and I would want NOTHING to ever happen to him. He seemed annoyed and apologized, but I didn't feel like he was getting it, he just kept saying "I can't go back in time and change it! What do you want me to do?" the whole freaking time. Then I pulled the "I did all this stuff with you and for you today" (yeah I went that route in the heat of my anger) and yet he still didn't fully grasp it. I'm seeing him tomorrow night and I don't want this drawn out, but how can I make him realize just how much he made me worry? What should I do? I'm pretty furious. Also, was I right in what I said to him?
