I was eating at a restaurant (Grindstone Charley's) when it happened...I know he was hit by a drunk driver who didn't stop, but they did find the driver later...sorry I don't have a photo...you might want to check and see if his school would have one

where can I drive my own car on a race track around Chicago, Indiana or Wisconsin?
Question:
I'm looking to take my car and drive it on a road course or speedway. Not for a race just for time trials.

Answer:
Road America, Blackhawk Farms, dozens of little 1/4 mile ovals everywhere... Of course it helps a bunch if you are in a car club that does track day events at one of these facities. Renting the track and getting the necessary insurance in cost-prohibitive for the average person going it alone.

Isn't there a wide open space where I can take a sports car and race it at top speed and all over?
Question:
Remember that wide open flat stretch of desert that that black Trans AM Kit in Knught Rider was driving top speed on? Thing is, I don't live in California, I live nearby Chicago. The main reason why people speed on the roads is because they don't have a place they can go do it at. And don't tell me that the only place I can do it at is some measly quarter mile drag strip. There's got to be a place where it's perfectly legal and I have all the space in the world to do it. Some speedway maybe? I plan on getting an 8-cylinder sports car and really maxing it out, and yes, I know it's illegal to do that on public roads, I know better. But like I said, there's GOT TO BE a place where I can speed to my heart's desire. Any places in or around the Illinois/Indiana area? And if not, where is that wide space like in that show "Knight Rider" or what they do in the TV series "MythBusters"? Anything you can tell me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Answer:
The Bonneyville salt flats in Utah.

"For Math Lovers" Indianapolis 500 Edition (1)?
Question:
The month of May is a busy month at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana. Racing teams fine tune their cars and compete for the 33 starting positions. The race was first held on May 30, 1911 - Memorial Day - a grueling 500-Mile race paying $14,250 to win. The winner of the race in 2006 won $1,744,855. The winner’s share in 2006 is what percent of the winner’s share in 1911? Express your answer to the nearest whole number.

Answer:
1,744,855 divided by 14,250 = 122.4459..... multiply by 100 and round 12,446%

Where should we stay for the March race at Atlanta Motor Speedway?
Question:
Would love to hear from a local or frequent out of state visitor to the track! And when I ask "where" I'm not looking for the name of a hotel as much as the name of an area in or around Atlanta or AMS. 1. I have done my homework on hotels via the AMS website, Hotels.com, tripadvisor and AAA, I don't need a list of a bunch of hotels as I have already looked at them all :) 2. We are coming from Indiana so we are not familiar with the different areas in and around Atlanta and AMS 3. I am specifically looking for an answer like, "Stay in Stockbrook, it is safe, the hotels are newer and very clean" 4. I am trying to narrow down which area would be best to stay in like Fayetteville, Morrow, Downtown Atlanta, etc...then I can look back at the list of hotels and find one that suits our needs 5. I don't need a 5 star - we just want to be in a safe area and be in a room that is clean and smells nice, price is not a concern so much, and distance between the hotel and track is not a concern (we will have a car) 6. And it would be great to know how early we should leave our hotel on Sunday morning - I hear the traffic is terrible Thank you in advance!

Answer:
The name "Atlanta Motor Speedway" is kind of a misnomer as the track is in a town about 40 miles south of downtown Atlanta. Downtown Atlanta can be a challenge but any of the locations, out of the city, on the south side (or any side) are usually OK. Of course during "race week" all kinds of folks show up so nothing is guaranteed.

I was caught with something that was not illegal, but was taken to jail. could somebody help me?
Question:
I was riding in the passenger seat of my friend’s car on the way to Speedway gas station to drop off a resume. I noticed a Sheriff making a U-turn and put his lights on. My friend pulled over and shut off his vehicle at the gas station.the Officer said that I was not wearing my seatbelt and that’s why we were pulled over. My friend’s car has tinted windows and his seat was lowered, that would be very hard to see keep in mind. I was smoking a cigar at the time the officer came to the driver side door and i asked him if it was okay to put it in the ashtray, I did. At that point he put the driver under arrest immediately saying he smelled marijuana in the car (we were NOT smoking marijuana) the police officer then began to take my friend away to handcuff him, when he was done talking I notified him that I have a handgun and a permit for it. He took the gun, permit, my licence, and my KA-BAR knife. Telling me he is going to try his hardest not to ensure I not get it back. Then came to my side and took me from the car, searched me and found a scale, (which I use to weigh the grain of my bullets for target shooting, and I weighed dohka on it that day) a cellophane bag with some dokha in it (a form of tobacco), and an old k2 bag with dokha in it as well, I did not feel like carrying the bulky plastic bottle around so I put it in a bag that was once used to hold K2 but didn’t anymore since its illegal, I did not know carrying a bag without an illegal substance in it would get me arrested. The other bag was for my friend so he could have some. It was to my understanding that they had a test they could administer if I were to get pulled over. To prove my innocence. They administered no test, and they did not believe that dokha was legal, stating that it was “a banned form of synthetic marijuana.” It is not. The officer told me I was being charged with a class D Felony. With me I also had a pipe that I use to smoke the dokha. Since I was being accused of smoking an illegal substance when I was not, I put the pipe in the grass. I was lifted up after about 5 minutes and taken to the Hendricks county jail. At the jail I saw the officer that said he wanted to make sure i never see that gun again once more where he unnecessarily and unprofessionally stated that he was going to keep my gun and customize it saying “I think I’m going to keep this and change the grips to say Sherriff’s Dept. That’d look good don’t you think?” Then he stated once more that he is going to try his hardest to not let me get my gun back. During this whole incident I was not read my Miranda rights. My court case is tomorrow. I didn’t do anything wrong, does anyone have any information that could help me out? the felony's have been dropped to misdemeanors possession of paraphernalia and possession of synthetic marijuana (even though its not) do i get my gun and knife back? they were completely legal and i was not using them in a crime,Thanks. this is in Indiana by the way.

Answer:
First off, who cares if the cop is rude or threatening? It's THEIR JOB to be rude and threatening, or use any other trick to psych you out, mind-frack you or do whatever it takes to make you more docile and compliant and afraid and more likely to admit crimes and make his prosecution easier. Get it straight - his job is to help the DA get convictions. His talk about your gun is just psyching you out. He doesn't care, it isn't personal, he doesn't even know you, he deals with 10 criminals a day and they're all a blur to him. Messing with people is just what he does. What's with the "no seat belt" / "smells marijuana"? real simple, it is illegal for cops to stop you or search you for no reason. So they are really good at finding baloney reasons that are very subjective, your word vs. his. He would never say "your car had expired tags" because it is provable that that's not true. So he goes with things you can't challenge. I think it's probably a lost cause arguing whether they had any right to search. You notified them of the guns, it sounds like you know the gun law, so you're in the clear on that. Now the only question is whether you broke the law or not. How is that decided? Legal victory goes FIRST to whoever is most bold; and SECOND to whoever is actually right in the law. You are doomed unless you are bolder than they are. Fortunately they are government employees. So you are all but certain to win if you are courage wolf and if the law is on your side. Cops are allowed to arrest you if it seems likely that you're commiting a crime. That is they can arrest you for LOOKING like you're breaking the law. And you really tried to do that lol, carrying all that incriminating looking stuff!!! You LOOKED like a drug dealer so you got arrested like one. "Arrested" is not "convicted". To convict you they have to prove several elements of every charge and they have to do it beyond reasonable doubt. If you keep your mouth shut, you will be convicted because the facts on their face make you look guilty. You have to introduce reasonable doubt!!!! The things you said here matter. Your past use of K2 when it was legal will explain away any drug residues found in the bag or pipe. You can win this but you really have to stick up for yourself. That's how the system works. You need to look at each of the laws they are charging you with, and read each of the elements of the crime. The law should call out each of those. THEY have to prove every element beyond a reasonable doubt. YOU have to introduce reasonable doubt, the more the better. And in many states, you have to tell the D.A. what defense you plan to use before the trial. This actually works in your favor, because if your arguments are reasonable and he can confirm them, then he HAS to drop the charges or you can sue him for malicious prosecution. So talk to the D.A. the very first thing. Be fair and be reasonable but be firm. Don't give him an inch. Be aggressive, call HIM. Most people don't, so that'll wake him up! If your arraignment is tomorrow, you need to ask for a public defender if you can't afford a lawyer. If your trial is tomorrow, congrats, you have really screwed this up. You need to contact the D.A. first thing in the morning and ask for a continuance to get those tests done, and then ask the judge too. If you have to represent yourself, then you should probably get a book on that at the library. One thing to remember is, the 5th Amendment is one way or the other. If you testify on your behalf, they get to cross-examine you. Nobody's going to believe a druggie's statements anyway. You have to introduce reasonable doubt mainly by asking questions of witnesses. You can load the questions, like "Defendant has insisted that this material is entirely legal. In light of that, did you run a drug test on the contents of the baggie?" Good luck. Stick up for yourself!!!! Most people don't.
