It would be fine there overnight. I know why you're asking (it's not the safest city in the world), but it would be completely fine to leave it *there* for 5 days. If you're concerned, just ask a friend or family member to drive by and check on it if they get the chance. You should be alright. :)

Where can I find a good Mazda in Indiana?

Most dealerships wont have many cars for that price range, and if they do it wont be "good". I would check craigslist if I were you, you can find some good deals on there.

Does someone you know who lives in an apartment complex that has a recreation room or something like that. Sometimes you can rent those really cheap (or rent for free if the apartment manager is nice). Or maybe at a library- call them and ask. Or if any friend or relative has a living room you can have it in?

I currently been living in the town I have been in for the past year, year and a half. I live in an apartment above my Landlord(Being Apartment Number 2). I rightfully live here, pay rent, pay Bills, and everything else good. I do not have any Warrants out for me, I have no tickets, or outstanding tickets, I have no criminal History, I have Insurance on my car, legal License plates, nothing is wrong with my vehicle. I am parked on the right side of the road pointing the same way you drive as if you were going down the road, on the side of the road where our cars are parked while we live there. My Car was towed by the police station, no notice given for a 24hr notice, no notice at all. Called them up and they refused to provide information regarding why my Car was taken when there was no logical reason for it TO be taken. I was told I had to come in, to find out this information. I do not know how they expect this when I have no vehicle now and anyone that would be able to take me work on the days I have off, or work before I go to work.(This almost cost me my job mind you, I went outside to find out my car was randomly gone. I finally got a ride down there, and tried to speak with them. They told me they could not give me any information as to what happened with my car. I have my Contract of where I lived, my name, my ID, my Social Security Card with me, my Title to my Car, my Insurance papers, everything I possibly needed to show them it was my car, and they are speaking with the person of whom they stole my car. Neglected to even find out any information about me and told me to leave. Naturally I told them I will not be leaving till I am informed about why my Vehicle was taken. I made sure to remind them THEY are the ones who told me to come in to find out in the first place, 20min earlier. Hmmm. They said they can not help me, real nice and whatnot. I told them I requested their names and badge numbers to record it. They ask why, and I told them personal reasons. They refuse to give this out(Which is Illegal to not provide badge Number and Name of the Officer speaking to you.) Again they tell me to leave in a more strict manner, I insist that I will not leave until they tell me what and why my car was taken away. And if they do not tell me the information I'll have a Lawyer come down and make the information be presented to me. They threatened me to leave or they will arrest me. The exact words were: "You are being indecent. If you do not move your scrawny white ass out of here, I will come down there and arrest you right now." Of course I was mad, told them "Fuck you. I'll be back to speak with you again tomorrow." And left. I have been unable to speak to my lawyer about this right now, but I am pretty sure you are not allowed to neglect to tell me information about my Vehicle. Chief of Police neglects to call me back nor answers my calls. I found out by a friend cop the real name and phone number of the officer who did this. So its very possible they can help me, they just neglected to do so. What should I do in this situation? Is it Legal? What can I do to make them speak and get my car back, before I loose my job because of this. I plan to Call the State Police and report my car as "Stolen" by the Indiana Hammond State Police, and to call the Mayor of Hammond to speak to him about this, as he is their boss. And I am sure he will be more reasonable in this aspect. Thankies again~ The Cops do have my Car, through a Towing company. The cops are the ones who had it towed. They will not even allow me to release my vehicle, on top of that they want me to pay 100% for the tow there, and 100$ to get it released. I am not paying that whenever I rightfully had no reason to have my car taken away. Wasn't even any legal reason for it to be taken, one the side officers told me. It was "Simply Towed"

Are you sure the police even have your car? Maybe it was towed by a towing company. Have you ever seen the show Parking Wars on A&E? Watching people try to get their cars back, even when they do everything right, is a nightmare. Just be glad you don't live in Philadelphia.

Indiana bus routes...?

I live in Hammond, but I may be getting a job in Munster. The thing is that I don't have my own car yet, so I've been looking at bus schedules. But I can't seem to get a straight answer. I need to know if there's any company that has bus lines running through Hammond to Munster. I know the city of Hammond isn't listing anything, so that's one off the list. If this doesn't work, I'll have to start callling places directly. But any and all help is appreciated.

The city of Hammond bus service http://www.gohammond.com/web/148.0.0.1.0.0.phtml shows two routes that go pretty far south. Route 1 shows it going to the area of the Target on Calumet Ave and Broadmoor Ave. Route 3 show it going down to Community Hospital at Calumet Ave and Ridge Rd area. Don't know if that gets you close to where you need but best I could find. I'm not from that area so just going on what I could find on the internet. Hope this helps you some. CH

We live in Northwest Indiana, my youngest son's father kicked us out when we broke up. My family took us in. Now they are kicking us out because of difference of opinions about me going back to college. So, now, I am a single mother living with my three very young kids in my car. we have foodstamps still, but since i am SUPPOSSED to be getting child support, we dont get TANF. Am in the process of taking the father to court. I have went to the housing authority in Gary, Hammond, and Michigan city, and they all said they r not taking applications. So, now what? going to keep trying throughout the state, but does anyone know of a local organization or SOMETHING that can help? i have no other family, and the fathers don't want the kids. PLEASE HELP. I also Have been looking for jobs for months. Im desperate for help.
