Where can I find a decent car in Peoria Illinois?
Question:
I am looking for a car no more than a thousand dollars, I want a four door. Dont really car what year...Good condition...where is there good places to look into, not really wanting to go to a dealership...I will if i have too...I dont make much money but i need a vehical so bad! PLease help!

Answer:
Your best bet is to do an online search at autotrader.com or craigslist.com or aolauto.com. If you don't find anything, google it as: cars for sale $1000. But doing that will show you cars available throughout the U.S., not just your area.

I recieved a speeding ticket in east peoria illinois (the ticket was issued by tazewell county). I was drivin?
Question:
I was traveling DOWN the springfield rd hill coming to the intersection where there was a red light. The cop was shooting radar in the Associated bank parking lot, which is basically right there at the light. The cop claims I was doing 48 mph, my problem is that it is physically impossible to be doing 48 mph at the bank coming to a red light without nailing the car in front of me, I want to fight this ticket. Any suggestions out there?? Thank You Top Cop for your response! It was a Tazewell county officer that pulled me over (which I found strange). Anyway since you are familiar with Springfield Rd hill, can you tell me if the cosine effect regarding the steepness of the hill and the curve before the actual decent down the hill would impact the speed at which I was clocked at? I have had speeding tickets in the past and have always paid without contesting, as I WAS speeding. But I really feel that I was not speeding on this occasion as I live on Springfield Rd and travel down this hill daily (48 mpr coming out of a school zone, taking that curve, and going down such a steep hill approaching an intersection, in my view constitutes reckless driving!!). I appreciate your input! Thank You Top Cop for your response! It was a Tazewell county officer that pulled me over (which I found strange). Answer:
I'm a police officer in East Peoria, IL!!! It wasn't me that pulled you over though! WHAT A COINCIDENCE!! There is one way to fight the ticket: The police officer will first explain to the judge what he says you were doing, then you will have a chance. Explain to the judge exactly what you just explained here. The rest (the judge's decision), you cannot control. EDIT: I actually go to that parking lot to do the same thing (catch speeders) quite often. The reason is because the trees and buildings conceal me when I'm sitting there so people do not see me for a while. Yesterday, I decided to drive down Springfield Road, to see how far in advance you can see the outer edge of the Associated Bank's parking lot. Officers sitting in that parking lot can actually see people well before they cross Stewart Street (the last crossroad before Washington St.) although they are hidden somewhat by trees and a small building. You asked if the hill makes any difference as to how your speed is clocked. The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT. As long as you are not driving at a 45 degree or greater angle (which is impossible on any paved road in the US. as no roads are made such), the radar clocks you accurately. I have actually tested around a bit with a co-worker against his speedometer to see how accurate the radar actually is. We found that it is perfectly accurate. We actually tested it on a steeper hill than that one. I think what happened is you were going faster than you thought, and he could see you well before you noticed him. Since the pavement on that road is fairly new, it creates a smoother, quiet ride therefore making you feel as if you are not going as fast. The speed limit on that road is 35mph. I wasn't there, though, so I cannot say for sure you were speeding. If you want to fight the ticket, go ahead. Good luck!

Returning my Financed Car in Illinois?
Question:
I have a 03 Chevy Malibu. This was the first car I bought on my own, without my dad helping me pick it out. BIG mistake!! I bought it from Sam Leman on Pioneer Parkway in Peoria. Who by the way will NEVER get my business again. I got an Extended Power Tran. Warranty with it. Along with Gap Insurance. I have had a ton of problems with it. I took it back to Sam Leman's with in a year of Financing it to have it fixed. Well they could only fix a few things one it that were covered in the warranty. The rest would of cost me about 2000 to fix it. I have had it now 4 years and have made my payments on time. As well as REFINANCED it, to lower payments. My husband is the only one working at this time, do to the fact in 07 we had twins. Now we found out we are going to be getting his daughter from his first marriage, do to his ex wife having cancer. The car is no big enough for all of us, and well I just want to give it back. Help me understand what it will do to my credit. I did pay the 20 for the car fax report on my car. It does no show that it had been in an accident or anything. But I still think it is a LEMON!!! I owe about $7,000 on it, it books at about $3,000. Since the day I bought it, there is a clicking that comes and goes. They told me at the Dealership they could not find it. So I am CRAZY! They told me since I did not flush the radiator when I bought it (with only 32,000 miles on it) my engin coolent was turning to sludge and damaging my engin. (HMMMMMM, I may be a girl, I may not know that much about cars---- But----) I traided in a 94 Ford Tempo that had 300,000 miles on it and never flused that radiator.... on top of that when I bought it I paid $1,200 for it and when I traided it in, that is what Sam Lamen gave me for it. So I do know how to take care of my cars. Puzzled.... Please Help me I need to know what I should do??? Thank you all sooooo much!!!! I am sure that this may not come as a shock I am in the same boat as about over 75% of America is now. I don't know what to do, I don't care about this car any more. I am bout not to care what it does do to my credit. I have even concidered filling for chapter 13 or 7 on it as well. So if any of you have any advice about that let me know. Would it be worth filling chapter 13? or 7? Don't know, never filed before. Not sure what they can do to me. My credit and all. Not sure how they work. Please help me understand what they can do as well.... Thank you again... See I have put about $18,000 into this car all ready. Between paying for rental cars when it was at the dealer ship getting worked on, new breaks--- until I put on the new calabers I would eat thru a set of break pads in about 3 weeks. It sucked.... I put 5 sets on til I could afford to get the calabers. Not to forget the damb clicking noice it sounds like my turn signel is on when it is not. Then after a bit my car thinks its on, so it starts to DING at me. (like when you have your turn signel on for too long) Talk about Drive someone crazy!!!! My dad ownes a Trucking Company and has quite a few highly qualified guys in the shop. None of them can figure it out. Oh one more thing about the breaks.... I could be driving down the highway at 75mph and all of a sudden they all LOCK UP~~~~ Talk about making your butt pucker.... That was before I did all the extra work on it.

Answer:
To answer your main question ("What will it do to my credit?"), the answer is: It'll destroy it. Your car will be sold at auction, and you'll owe the difference between what you owe and what it brings at the auction. Don't be surprised if it only brings $1500 or so at auction. You'll then be presented a bill for that difference. If you cannot pay it or work something out with your lender, you'll probably be taken to court. You'll lose, and then you'll have a judgment on your credit as well as a repo. Can't pay that judgment? They'll garnish your wages or other assets depending on what state you live in. So, you end up paying for the car one way or another. The sad thing is that the issues you've had with the car do not absolve you from paying the debt. You signed onto the loan, and you have to pay it. And, as the other poster said, once you refinanced the car... you stretched the debt out even further. Trading it in? Not likely. The issue you have is that the negative equity has to be rolled into the new loan, and banks are not overallowing that much negative equity (you're lucky if you get a 105% overallowance at this time, and that's with excellent credit). 4-5 years ago, this was going on all the time. Selling it probably won't happen, either, as you'd need to sell it for the amount you owe in order to clear the loan. Also, just to clear something up, a 6-year old vehicle is not deemed a "Lemon" under the law, so if anyone gives you the ol' "check into the Lemon Law" crap, please don't fall for that. Those laws only apply to new vehicles and some used vehicles in certain states. All have to be under the original manufacturer's warranty. The only thing you can do it tighten the belt, try to pay as much extra as you can on the payments in order to pay the car off quicker. You're in the same situation as millions of Americans right now, and unfortunately there is no easy way out.

Should I hire a Lawyer for Traffic Court?
Question:
I was in a single car accident on May 21st in Peoria, Illinois. I was driving eastbound on Glen and ended up swerving and hitting a tree. When the Police Officer arrived on the scene, he asked me questions, including what medicine I was on, and unfortunately (because I guess if you tell the truth you are screwed) I told him I was on preventative seizure medicine-- which preventative means I haven't had one in a long time-- so he completely took it upon himself and ruled the accident because of a seizure. I then went to Proctor Hospital, where it was confirmed that I did NOT have a seizure. Ironically, the tire of my car was very flat after the accident, where at the angle where I hit the tree, it is unlikely that it caused the tire to deflate. A few days ago I did have to fill up my tire with air, but I never thought much of it since then. The police officer must not have even looked at my car, as the police report says Ford Explorer, instead of Ford Escape. He did not take out my registration or car insurance, instead he wrote down my expired dental insurance? He issued my 2 tickets, illegal lane usage and failure to reduce speed to cause an accident. However-- when I sent in the paperwork to plead guilty-- when the woman returned she said that because he said there was a driver injury-- I HAD to go to court? Yet, my ticket clearly says "Does Not need to Appear" Of course, my license is revoked and has been revoked now for a week-- I got all of my paperwork signed by my neurologist that states I have not had a seizure or the accident did not cause the seizure. It is submitted to the state, and when I called, she said it would take 4-6 weeks before it will go to a review board and reissue it. He wrote in the police report that it appeared to be caused by "my condition" yet, he has absolutely no medical proof to write that AND submit it to the state. I feel like he discriminated me and took the easy way out instead of even looking at my car. There were witnesses that said I was driving fine then briefly swerved and hit the tree within seconds. It is a mess, and it really isn't fair to submit something with speculation-- and not facts, right? sorry-- i was pleading not guilty :) my tire completely blew and kicked me to the left. State Farm has pictures of it.

WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO ADOPT MY FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS ?
Question:
My name is Latricia and I am a single mother of two young boys Brandon (age 3) and Brayden( 7 months). This last year has been very hard on us. Both of my children see specialist in Peoria Illinois for developmental delays. I do not have a car so I take the Amtrak train back and fourth to there doctors appointments. Besides that my son Brandon has speech therapy classes and Brayden to Physical therapy. I do not even have enough money to cover my bills so I know that there is no way that I can give my children even a Christmas tree. Anything would help. Thanks Latricia

Answer:
I would contact a Salvation Army or your local Assistant office. I know the Salvation Army will help you if you don't make to much. They will give you several toys for each of your boys. For they tree why don't you and your three year old make one. Take a paper towel roll and attach newspaper in the shape of branches to the roll. You can buy some green paint for .44 cents at Walmart and paint it. Then make some ornaments out of scrap paper you have around the house and hang it. Your sons are still little so they won't know the difference and I am sure your 3year old would have fun making it. I don't have much money either so I wouldn't be able to help you out on anything new, but I may have some used books and clothing that is in good condition that I might be able to send to you depending on how much it would cost to mail it. Email and let me know and I will see what I have if anything.

Registration/Title...whatever?!?
Question:
I'm buying a used car on Saturday for $2,500 cash. I was wondering what I have to do as far as the title and registration? Does he just sign the title over to me and I pay registration at my DMV, or how does that work? How much is it going to cost is the main thing I'm wondering? I live in Peoria, Illinois. Thanks!

Answer:
You pay him for the car. He fills out the title with the date, His address if different from that printed on the title, your name and address, sale price and the current vehicle odometer reading and checks off Actual, over Mechanical limit or Unknown Mileage, and signs on the seller line. He must fill out the title with a pen using blue or black ink. If an error is made a single line should be drawn through the error and the correct information written after the error. You take the title and proof of insurance to the DMV within 15 days and file for a new title and registration and pay the title fee, registration fee and the state sales tax based on the sale price the seller recorded on the title. they will issue you a registration certificate and a set of license plates... You may drive the vehicle directly home or directly to the DMV on the date of purchase as long as you possess the signed title. And a copy of the insurance binder which you need to get from your insurance agent before you go to pick up the car ( the agent needs the VIN and Odometer reading to issue your binder ) OR a copy of your current vehicle insurance certification - which is valid for the first 24 hours on the date of purchase of any new / used vehicle for purposes of driving the vehicle to your residence or directly to the agents office to obtain the VIN specific paperwork. Your responsibility is to make sure that the VIN number listed on the title matches the VIN number on the plate on the dashboard, visible through the windshield at the lower left corner of the windshield / front of the dash.... absolutely matches.... NO Mistakes....
