What is a good suburbia neighborhood to live in the Chicago area?
Question:
I am planning on relocating for a job west of Chicago (Melrose Park area) and would like to know of what areas are good to live in surrounding there? Also is it crazy or too much hassle to try to commute (whether by car or Metro system) from Chicago (downtown) to that area?

Answer:
Elmwood park, River Grove, and the Mount Claire neighborhood which is within the City limits are good beceause the Metra Station is within walking distance or the drive to the station is relatively short. They are all quiet neighborhoods with moderate traffic, good schools and plenty of places for shopping for what you need. Not much to do but its a good place to raise a family and still be within a 1/2 hour commute to Downtown.

looking for car i bought and never received?
Question:
how do i find auto i purchase from yahoo autos and never received. i need to know how to get in touch by phone with yahoo autos. i need the car or my money back. does yahoo stand behind there deals? how do I get there direct number or address, ive tried everything. please help me. thanks karen rose melrose park illinois 60160

Answer:
Most of the times a website is merely a place for sellers and buyers to contact each other. You need to contact your seller directly to find out what's wrong. I hope you weren't duped by one of those internet auto scams...read more here. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3078503 Call your local police or FBI if you believe you've been victimized. Good luck.

Where in (or around) Chicago should I live?
Question:
I will be working in Melrose Park, IL and Warrenville, IL over the next two years. So, I need to find an apartment. What specific geographic location(s) should I be considering to keep my costs low. I need to factor in gas (my car gets about 22mpg), tolls, and property value. Since I’m not from that area – I need your help.

Answer:
Well from Melrose Park you would probably have to hop on the Eisenhower expressway which becomes i88 to get to Warrenville. I would probably choose a location closest to the place you will be at most. Near Warrenville you have a large town Naperville that is very popular and you might have trouble finding a cheap apt there. Winfield is next to Warrenville and that is not bad at all. I would go to chicagotribune.com and do an apt search and compare costs. You will probably have more success out by Warrenville than Melrose.

Glasgow Scotland parking?
Question:
I am hoping to get some advice – We are picking up our rental car at the Glasgow airport around 10:30am and then would like to spend the afternoon in Glasgow. We will then be traveling on to Melrose to our lodging for the night and the thought is to park somewhere convenient to the road to Melrose and perhaps taking public transportation into the city. Does this make sense? I think I want to avoid bringing the car into the city due to traffic and parking issues.

Answer:
Parking is a pain in Glasgow however if you're willing to walk a wee bit you can park for quite cheap. It depends what day and what time you'll be in the city- either way if you're picking up a car at the airport you'll be hitting the traffic at some point. The carpark I've linked to is brilliant(the second one called high street)- 60p an hour is nothing really. Its up by the cathedral so quite near some tourist like places and only 10 mins from George Square. It is also literally 2 minutes off the motorway so you won't get stuck in traffic for too long if you park there. http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/GettingAround/Pa rking/Carparks/carparknortheast.htm This link below has a map of the city so you can see where High Street is, it also has a big list of all the car parks plus prices. http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/GettingAround/Par king/Carparks/ Is it possible to pick the car up later? You might be easier (and cheaper) getting a bus into the centre and then back to pick up car after. The Kingston Bridge (Which you can't avoid) can be a major nightmare at peak times.

I'm really nervous about moving. ?
Question:
Hey i'm 14 and a boy( please ignore the fact that my email says Monica Richmond. It's my sisters old email) So, I've been living in Schenectady county in new York for my entire life. My parents are from Melrose, Massachusetts and they grew up there. Since my dad became a U.S. Marshall he was told he had to work in new York so we moved to Niskayuna. My parents have been living here longer then they lived in melrose. Now the problem is, we're moving. My parents are so excited. They bought an East Lake Victorian mansion in Melrose and our house Is scheduled to go on the market in April. Don't get me wrong I am so excited to be living close to my family finally! (the trip from here to there is 4 hours and all my family Lives there) but the idea scares me. I have to leave behind everybody and everything I know about my environment and get used to a new one. Niskayuna Is all I know. I have so many great memories like running around the park behind my yard, and eating Popsicles on summer evenings, and waking up and seeing presents on Christmas morning. How can I leave behind everything I know? The thought of getting in a car and driving down the street, knowing that I will never see my childhood again. It's makes panic, and I have to calm myself down. What should I do? I can probably name two streets in this new town in moving to. Help :(

Answer:
Hey dude. I grew up in Melrose!!! And I have family who lives near Schenectady. Melrose is a great little city, and it's nice and close to Boston, which is a really fun city to hang out in. I assume you'll go to Melrose High School...it's not the best in the world, so try to maybe check out a private school (if you can afford to). The people in Melrose are nice, and there is a lot to do. The Melrose Commons (it's a park) is a place where a lot of teens hang out, and there's a little store there that sells snacks, ice cream, drinks, candy, etc. Main Street is full of little restaurants....there are a TON of pizza places. My personal favorite is Melrose House of Pizza (the people who work there are really nice, too!). I think you'll adjust just fine to Melrose.... As for the moving part of it....one of my favorite quotes is "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened." Look back on your memories from Niskayuna with joy! You seem to love it there, so you will have many fond memories of it. Plus, with technology these days, you can easily keep in touch with all of your friends! Moving is definitely hard at first, but it helps to look at it as an adventure. You're not alone; your family will be with you, and they are probably feeling similar about moving. Talk to them! Trust me, it helps. Hang pictures from your childhood in Schenectady in your new house. Most importantly, though, don't get caught up in missing your old life. Sure, your old life sounds fine, but there are so many opportunities that come with moving. You can start over; absolutely nobody knows who you are, so you can be whoever you want to be without people judging. Like I said before, Melrose is super close to Boston. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO IN BOSTON. Go to The Museum of Science, take a Duck Tour, eat at Faneuil Hall, shop in Harvard Square, take the subway to anywhere, go to the beach, learn to sail, etc. etc. Stay positive. The way you look at this new experience is everything. If you go in with a negative attitude, chances are, you'll find a way to make it a negative experience. BUT! If you go with a positive attitude, and if you take everything in stride, chances are, you will make the best out of it! I know you will miss everything from Niskayuna, but now you'll get to forge new memories and make new friends! Now go, move to Melrose, and get ready to start a great new life. :D

Vacation in LA in December! Tips and advice?♥?
Question:
Vacation in LA in December! Tips and advice? So I'll be going to Los Angeles, California, for the first time on the 27th of November to 11th December. I'm wondering, what will the weather be like and so what should I wear? We'll be visiting places like Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo(maybe) and Universal Studios. (i have a younger brother so he likes those kind of theme park things, but i'm fine with them too). Are shorts okay? Denim jeans? Or will they be too hot? What sorta shoes will be appropriate? And other than Rodeo Drive and Melrose Avenue, what other awesome, must-go shopping areas are there? I've never ever been to LA, so I don't know what they have there! Where are the Abercrombie, Hollister and AE stores, too, if you don't mind? Oh, and which hotel should we stay in? It's me, my 12 year old brother, my mum, and my dad. We want something near all the places we're going to, so price doesn't really matter as long as they have great service and good location! A few options would be great!(: What else should we do there, and what other must-see places? Oh, and what car should we rent? Just wondering(: Please help, I'll love you forever!♥

Answer:
Weather should be cool, in the 50's and 60's. Might even rain. Shorts? Possible, but unlikely. Denim jeans are a better choice. Wear good, comfortable tennis shoes. I prefer New Balance, myself. There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of “must sees”. Visit as many as you have time for.: Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors can’t be wrong. #1 Destination. Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination. Even if you don’t visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And they’re free to visit. Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood & Highland complex has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater. The El Capitan theater, right across the street, is where Disney shows their movies. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors. Olvera Street/Union Station: Olvera Street is the birthplace of LA, and it emphasizes our Mexican heritage. In addition to the Avila Adobe (oldest building in LA), you can eat at some pretty good Mexican Restaurants, do a little shopping, and taste a churro. If you don’t want to go to Tijuana, this is as close as it gets without going there. Union Station has great architecture from a bygone age. Also, you are 2 blocks from Phillippe’s (see below). Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something. Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you'll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. Santa Monica: Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach. Sunset Boulevard began as a route between the stars' posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the "Sunset Strip" on its way. Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping "The Price is Right". You might even get in. Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage. Getty Museum - The Getty's architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art, architecture, or view better, the Getty is sure to please. Free. Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It's very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show. Check the NBC web site for all the details there. Places to eat: In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone. Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe. Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown. Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity. Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot. The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs. Places to Stay: Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Holiday Inn Walk of Fame, all near Hollywood and Highland. Another one is the Best Western Sunset Plaza. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios. Places to Shop: Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica The Grove, Los Angeles Americana @ Brand, Glendale Beverly Center, Los Angeles Citadel Outlets, Commerce Brea Mall, Brea The Block at Orange, Orange South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa Fashion Island, Newport Beach Santee Alley, Los Angeles Rental car? ANY car.

Traffic Ticket using iPhone and wrong location?
Question:
I want to contest a traffic ticket, here are the particulars: I was pulled over by a parked motorcycle cop on a side street, catching people who were making left turns from a major blvd. after 3pm. A small posted sign on the opposite corner says "no turns between 3pm and 7pm". The sign is not easily visible from the turn lane if there is moving, on-coming, rush hour traffic. When I asked what the violation was, he pulled out his iPhone and showed me it was after 3pm and stated my violation. On the ticket, the officer also wrote the incorrect location of the violation, stating it was Melrose, not Beverly...two streets half-a-mile apart. So, Is an iPhone a legal device for determining time of day (i.e. can it be contested for its calibration or something else) when my car clock and droid phone showed a different/earlier/legal time, and/or does the fact that it was a totally different location than on the ticket invalidate the citation? I have an arraignment date set and would like to know what I can use to contest the citation at the trial. Thank you.

Answer:
Why is your droid supposed to be more accurate than an iPhone? The different location can be a typo and doesn't matter. Talk to a lawyer/public defender. Why are you getting legal advice on yahoo answers? At least get it on avvo.com

Answer:
The weather will be kind of weird for that time of year. November will be rainy, cloudy to sunny possibly warm to cold. Personally, I would bring a bit of everything, and what you left behind, you could buy here. December will possibly be the same but colder. You should wear good walking shoes as you will be doing a lot of that. Bring at least 2 pair of shorts you never know with So Cal's weather. If you are going to visit theme parks, visit Magic Mountain located in Valencia, Ca and Knotts Berry Farm located in Buena Park. Visit Santa Monica and 3rd St. Promenade there you will find shopping for ever. Also visit Venice Beach there you will find shops and restaurants. I live in Hollywood and I avoid the touristy areas, but you have to go to the Graumman's Mann's Chinese Theater / Walk of fame located on Hollywood Blvd. and Highland. There again you will find lots of shops and touristy things to do. Check out Hollywood and Vine, the Griffith Observatory, Warner Bros. tour located in Burbank. When you go to Universal Studios check out City Walk and you guessed it, MORE SHOPS and RESTAURANTS. For the store that you are looking for, use the store locater, I know they are here, just don't know where. As for Hotel's, I cant help you there, but look them up and you should get a listing of all the places near by. What kind of car hmmmm, well, it's gotta be big enough to hold all your stuff and the 4 of you, so I would let your parents decide on that. If none of this helps you, look up www.latourist.com. Good Luck.
