That's happened in Chicago and I know someone it happened to. Only these thieves were stealing the TV's mounted in cars. The neighbors staked out the block and called the cops just as the thieves were trying to rip off someone else.

Selling my car, need advice on transfer paperwork?

This is the first time I am selling a car, so I need some advice. I am in the process of selling my car to a private party. I have the title, and it is fully paid up. I am in Bolingbrook, Illinois. When I get a buyer for my car, I would like to know: 1. Which is the safest form of payment that I should accept? Should I wait till I get paid before I move ahead with the paperwork? 2. How do I transfer the title to the new owner? Do I just sign the title certificate along with the buyer and hand it over to him? 3. Do I just take the license plates off and keep/destroy them? Then how does the buyer drive it off my premises without plates? Or should he first take the transferred title to the DMV, get new plates and the bring the plates while taking possession of the vehicle? 4. What othet paperwork should we sign - Bill of Sale? Odometer statement? Do we need to get these papers registered with DMV? 5. Should I inform DMV about the sale? Is there any form for this?

1. Please if you dont follow any advice I give at lease listen to this one thing. Take ONLY cash. Not money order or cashiers check or even certified bank check. There are all kinds of scams right now and everything looks real legit but about a month will go by - you think everything went smooth but then the bank and government is looking for you. TRUST ME. (if they are legit they will understand.) Do not give ANY paperwork to the buyer until you have recieved the payment. All you need to do is print up a bill of sale (make 2 copies and be sure the buyer signs both, keep 1 for your records). The bill of sale must contain the date, purchase price, mileage, vin# etc.. (be sure to sell in AS IS AS SEEN CONDITION - NO WARRANTY IMPLIED OR EXPRESSED-a very important sentence!)) It must be signed by both parties. You will need to sign over the title to the new buyer (on the back). Some states require that you give a copy of your current registration to the buyer (makes life easier for the DMV employee). There is nothing else you need to sign Once this is complete you need to turn the plates back into the DMV so you don't have to keep paying the taxes on the vehicle. It is the buyers responsibility to get the car home after buying it from you. Many states will allow you to put the plates from your old car on the new car for 14 days before needing to register it. Either way, it is not your responsibility

My car has water inside the backseat driver side and i have no idea how to find out where its coming from?

Answer:
The only way to check for a water leak is to have a helper run a hose over the car while you sit inside and look fir it. Check around all the window seams. These are the easiest to spot. If nothing leaks from there, it gets a little more tricky. Now you will have to remove the back seat and run the water over the car again and see if it is running to that area. Then trace it back from there, My bet would be the trunk area. It may be a bad seal and the water is finding it's way down and to the back seat. I know it sounds off, but trust me, water in a car is like that. It will run down brackets and gussets. The way you find these is to get in the trunk with a flash light and have some one run a hose over the trunk. Also check the rear window. It may be rusted underneath the glass and allowing water in. Good luck in finding the problem. I have fought many of these and it's never fun.
