Question:
Hi, let me first start off by saying if youve lived/live in Hawaii ,particularly on the island of Oahu, you can help me the best. Im 16 and i moved to Oahu about 3-4 months ago. The only problem is, I haven't really made any friends. I used to be very social where i came from, so going from lots of friends to really no friends kills me. I dont go to a public school out here, i'm home-schooled. So that's one major reason i havent made any friends. *Dont tell me well just start going to reg. school and then things will change,im not at the moment able too* I live in the Waipahu area unfornately, which its not too bad here just would prefer somewhere else. *Just thought id add im of african american descent and not here because of military,my mom has an actual job here* The apartments i stay in, i see teenagers, but they also look at me funny, or dont seem very welcoming to me, so i usually don't say anything unless spoken to(i'm also kinda shy). So i dont have any friends really where i live. I need advice on places to go that teens hang out out and any other advice someone could me like activites i join, ive been looking at archery but just havent gotten a chance too. It would really help if your are girl and youve been or are in the same situation and living in the same area would be awesome!. Maybe we could meet up if youre legit. Of course somewhere very public. I have access to the bus and soon a car, so dont worry about the distance just tell me the places that are good for hanging out and meeting people and are fun. This would really help me , as i have been depressed lately about not having any friends here, i miss going out with a bestfriend or a chica, and talking with guys, you know teen stuff. And i just really wanna start my life out here, so plz plz help. I prefer email if you have some really good advice or are looking for a friend too!

Answer:
If there is a local mall, lot's of teens usually go to malls. And, even if the other kids give you weird looks, try talking to them. Compliment their clothes, etc.
