i just moved to waianae, oahu. and i have noticed a lot of crosses?

my family and i moved to hawaii recently and in the part we moved to waianae, hi, we've noticed a lot of people who have died. there are crosses everywhere and in one part a lot of them were alined the beach. it seemed like we were at a graveyard! when i take road trips in texas or new mexico or even just in old el paso, tx there were crosses on the side fo the roads for people who have died there in car accidents, but here in waianae seems like way too much! why is that? was there some kind of tragedy or have there been a lot of deaths related to drowning shark attack? bad driving? gang related? i dontknow. im just wondering if i live in a good area or not.

You're right about the crosses. It's bad driving combined with a very dangerous highway...Just in the past 3 years, I can remember so many traffic-related deaths. There's the one the homeless guy got hit right by Tracks (near the power plant)...The one the elderly woman got hit crossing Farrington Hwy. The hit-and-run where the early-morning bicyclist was killed....In fact, there was a hit-and-run 2 weeks ago, where the family turned that twenty-something-year-old boy in. And I didn't even do any research, so I'm sure I'm forgetting a dozen or more..... Waianae isn't necessarily a bad area, but you do have a larger amount of idiots who live on that side of the island (at least it seems that way). And the driving proves it. My friend has relatives in Waianae, and he jokingly (i think) says that Waianae is the only place on the island where someone cuts you off in traffic, and then gives YOU the finger!
