What do you think of Driver's license laws hit auto dealers Unable to register, illegal immigrants return ?
Question:
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/2007/07/15/tags_07 16.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab Jose Genao sells used cars for a living, but lately he's had to turn away customers from his Smyrna dealership. Genao used to sell about 15 vehicles a week, mostly Ford F-150 or Silverado pickups to a Mexican clientele. Now he sells only two or three. Half a dozen customers have returned cars because they can't register them. "They bring the key and tell me, 'Jose, I'm leaving,' " Genao said. Genao is feeling the fallout from a new state law, effective July 1, that requires a valid Georgia driver's license or ID card to register a car in Georgia. The law is cutting deep into traffic for many auto dealers and tag and title services catering to the state's growing immigrant community. Illegal immigrants can't get driver's licenses because to do so, they must prove they're in the country legally. The law also has the potential to cut into sales taxes and county ad valorem tax revenues, though metro area counties say it's too early to measure that effect. The bill's sponsor, Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) said he did not target immigrants. "Yes, this will impact people who are here illegally, but my biggest focus is public safety," he said. "If [car dealers and tag services] have built their business on people who are here illegally, I'm sorry

Answer:
I think that is a very valid and necessary law. The guy who said that they are dangerous isn't just talking to hear himself yammer. It's the truth. In my hometown, quite a few years back, a crowded van full of illegals went the wrong way down an interstate (more than likely because they could not read english). If i remember correctly, they killed themselves plus an oncoming vehicle.

Question:
Burying your dad on Christmas Eve is tough stuff. Washing down the anger, bitterness and resentment would take time. Yeah, Merry “ mother ****ing” Christmas! At the risk of sounding too upset, I’ll skip the scene of Christmas Day. You can just imagine. Early parental deaths tend to have one of two outcomes with families. They either become bonded or shatter to pieces. I guess we just didn’t have the glue to get through this. Everyone for yourself. The boats’ going down fast. And my poor mother. To this day, she has never truly spoken to me about it. How sad she must have been. To lose the most valued person in her life and then receive all the responsibility of finishing “their” plans, alone. Six children, 11 to 22, 4 in school, 3 in grade school. The house mortgage, the cars and the mess over in Mississippi. As bizarre as 1969 had been, the moon landing, hurricane Camille, Charles Manson, Chappaquiddick, Woodstock, for my mom it must have felt like the end. She would never remarry and I can only recall one or two gentleman (doctors) that she even had outings with. He, my father, was her life and he was gone. They married in June of 1942 after meeting at my mothers’ family camp in Southeast Missouri. He was there as a swimming instructor and camp medic. They fell in love almost instantly and then he was off to Fort Benning, Georgia as a doctor in the Army. Next it would be almost two years in Europe, including stops in Africa and Italy, before he would return to Missouri to reclaim the bride he left behind. And she waited, faithfully I am quite sure. From there it was back to his hometown in New Orleans to begin their lives together. First sharing a house with a long time friend and their family as there first two were born. Then in 1952 the purchase of Soniat St. and on with the hope of a lifetime of treasured memories to create. Well, one never can tell how long a lifetime may be, now can we? There is no manual on how to prepare for the unthinkable. I suppose it is a little like the rain, it just comes and suddenly you find yourself wet. Drying off can be quite difficult. If I had seen this at 11, maybe I would have acted differently. How deep must one dig to survive living? excerpt, "It's Raining" ©rad082801

Answer:
At age eleven a child can only dig until his mind drifts to other things. They soon realize, the shovel's to heavy, the dirt hard and cracked full of unmovable rocks and gravel. Of course you know, we all wish we knew then what we know now and that hindsight was 20/20.'what ifs' can never be figured as to change one part of history affects the lives of others like falling dominos. At eleven a child should receive all the help, love and attention, the explanations the questions answered, they need arms around them, guiding and loving. You missed this as a reeling in of feelings, as a family unit torn apart. It happened to you babe, but it was not your fault. Love Ronnie
