Speeding ticket in school zone in Georgia!?
Question:
I've got a speeding ticket in school zone in Georgia. It was not look like a school zone. Just highway with normal speed limit 45 mph. All cars was going around 45-55 mph. There was no flashing lights on the road. Cops was hiding with radar and pulled over so many cars in that area. And I was unlucky one. In front of me I saw at least 3 cars pulled over by the cops! And they was keep pulling more and more cars. People just was driving the regular speed limit and did not see any school signs or flashing lights there. I dont understand what it was. If someone live close to Roswell. The road I was pulled over was Holcomb Bridge. With normal 45 mph speed limit. I was driving 52 mph on 25 mph zone. I wonder now how much my fine is going to be? And how many points on my driver lisence? Should I fight with the law at this point? Or pay? BTW they are stopped me in Roswell, GA. Fulton county. But I live in Gwinnett, Norcross. Can anyone tell me how much approximately my fine is going to be? Please. I want to know!!!

Answer:
You always have the option to fight the ticket because there were no school zone signs, but be 100% sure of this. Also, you were doing almost 30 mph over the speed limit, and that's pretty tough to fight. My suggestion is to make a plea bargain with the prosecutor. Something like pay the fine, but no demerit points taken off. Prosecutors have so much cases that they need to lighten the load (wouldn't you do the same thing at your work?), so chances are, they will take your bargain.

Wanting to try something new so i'm thinking about relocating to Georgia?
Question:
I'm a single mother of a one year old boy i dont have a car or a job lined up or family members that live out there but i will like to no the best areas to raise a child , I was told Roswell An Smyra are great but i need something along the bus or train line .. i also dont want an apartment i will prefer to rent a town house or something some info will be greatly appreciated

Answer:
Nicole, Please think this through before you move. I don't want to discourage you -- but it's important to go into this with your eyes open -- AND money in your pocket. Be prepared to support yourself with savings for maybe a year -- especially with the current rocky economy. When I moved here years ago, it took me a lot longer to secure employment than I ever expected. I went through money, quickly. I lived in both Roswell, then Smyrna. They're great areas -- but sadly, you're somewhat stuck without a car. They both have bus lines, but you'll need to travel to the supermarket, your son's daycare center -- places that may not be accessible by public transportation. If you have savings to keep you going and to purchase a car, then give it a go. I moved here as a single mom cause I thought it would be a great place to raise a child ... and it indeed has been. Good luck.

URGENT QUESTION, PLZ HURRY!!!?
Question:
Okay, so i want to drive from Pensacola Florida to Roswell Georgia, about 325 miles. in a car that has roughly 24 miles per gallon, how much will it cost, just in gas? oh, and gas is about $2.70-2.80. thanks :) when me and my friend worked this out, we got about $75.... plz hurry, i needa know this info fast :) my mom thinks itll cost like crazy amounts of money, like $150 or more, but im trying to convince her it wont....

Answer:
We need to know how big your gas tank is. but it would take about 13.5 gallons to get you there. In my honda accord thats about one tank (30-40 dollars) 75 dollars should be good, just take more to be safe! DONT FORGET YOU HAVE TO GO BACK TOO! so that 30-40 dollars turns into 60-80!!!

Auto Accident settlement?
Question:
I am a 21 yr old male that was involved in an automobile accident in February of this year which resulted in my car being totalled. I feel they could have repaired the vehicle versus selling it at an auction. They wrote out a check for $13,500 to my finance company. I have been through a lot of pain and stress due to the fact that I lost my job because Georgia doesn't offer public transportation to Suwanee and now I do not have a vehicle. I have to pay for bus transportation and rental cars to see the doctor for back and neck injuries and personal use. I was out of work for 6 months and the insurance company doesn't want to pay me what I feel they should because they say I only suffer from soft tissue damage. I still have muscle spasms and headaches that I feel are accident related and ended treatment due to lack of transportation to Marietta and Roswell GA. Insurance company wants to settle for $1500 2nd offer. My medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering are over $6000. I still have to pay doctor and attorney. Am scheduled to go to court but what do I do when Insurance company refuses to pay what I feel they should for a accident that wasn't my fault. Doctor said I have nerve damage and torn ligaments. Why doesn't insurance want to pay me? To mushu Yes it was my choice to hire an attorney. I don't recall saying that his bill was the insurance company's responsibility. I feel your comments should have been kept to yourself and for you to tell me it wasn't the insurance company's fault I owed that much on a vehicle you have lost your mind. I am fully aware that it wasn't the insurance company's responsibility for me to get to work. I was just mentioning all that I have had to deal with. It was an unfortunate event that the accident happened and if my attorney answered my questions I wouldn't be here to begin with. What do you mean pain and suffering are not guaranteed? They're customer caused me alot of pain and suffering in 6 months and as for loss wages? They don't want to pay me that. I came here for information not to receive attitude from you!!!! Yes I have an itemized list from the my attorney that shows I should be getting paid more than $1,500 for injuries, loss wages, pain and suffering I feel they don't want to pay me just because they don't want to. My doctor said it was more then just a soft tissue injury. This is a another scam. All of this is the customers fault because she was such in a hurry and I'm the one suffering because of her so the insurance company should pay thats why we have INSURANCE!!!!

Answer:
Only your attorney can answer those questions about the settlement. Many people seem to think that if they hire an attorney, that they will magically get a larger settlement, but that is never the case. Insurance companies do not make a habit of cowering to attorneys, and the final settlement doesn't just increase the minute an attorney steps onto the scene. In fact, the opposite is true, because now there's another party who's getting a share of your settlement. It was your choice to hire an attorney, and his bill is your responsibility, not the insurance company's. As far as the car, your vehicle was obviously past the threshold for what the insurance company (who takes it's orders from the state) deemed repairable. Each state sets a particular percentage point for when a car, by law, must be totaled. If the insurance company just agreed to fix the car, they'd be breaking the law. Since you were making payments on the car, the first place the check went is to the lender, once again by law. It's not the insurance company's fault that you owed that much on the vehicle. Their job in this has been fulfilled. It's not their responsibility to make sure you had transportation to get to work after that. And it's not their problem that you have needed to lose work. Yes, their customer hit you, but they are only responsible for paying your losses, including lost wages because of injury, property damages (which they have done), and medical treatment. Pain and suffering is not guaranteed, and if they say your injuries are not worth what you think they are, they should know, because they deal with this stuff daily. They have experts than can read medical charts, and they know what a soft tissue injury is.

Can I sue my father? Please, I really need someones help.?
Question:
I am a 16 year old girl who lives in Roswell, GA and my father is a sever alcoholic who has been drinking heavily since he was 14. My whole life my father has been drunk and making me, my mom, and my younger sister's life hell. When my father is drunk he believes he can do whatever he likes without consequences. I remember him driving under the influence with both me and my sister in the car with him. He has even picked me up from school while severely drunk and almost t-boned a car on the way out. Then on 2/12/11 my father was taking me to watch my boyfriend's swim meet in Atlanta when we got pulled over for going 85 in a 65 mph zone. The officer asked my father to step out of the car so that he could perform a sobriety test on him. He failed it miserably. I then had to watch my father be arrested and put into the cop car. I was then left on the side of highway 400 for an hour waiting for my mom to come get me. At the police station he blew a 2.25 which is twice the legal limit of Georgia. He only spent one night in jail and now he is back home with us. He still doesn't think he has done anything wrong and I want him to really face the consequences of his actions. He told me that he can't be charged with child abuse because I am 16 and in Georgia child abuse is for 14 and younger children. Is there anything I could do to sue him for? I desperately need someones help, I don't want to have to deal with my father and his abuse any longer. Please, if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer:
I don't think that you can sue your father because he has a drinking problem. You are old enough to know whether he is competent to be driving and decide for yourself if it is safe for you to be in a vehicle with him. If you know he is driving drunk you can always call the police and have them stop him and haul him off again. If he is arrested 3 times he loses his drivers license. He can't be charged with child abuse unless he beats you or physically hurts you in some fashion. This really is an issue that you should be taking up with your mother because she is the one who can throw him out.
