Where can I park my car for free at a Wake Forest Football game? Question: I'm coming to Winston-Salem for the FSU-WF game, and I don't want to spend $8 for parking. Is there anywhere around the stadium where I can park for free? Answer: There is a Hero House up the street from the Football Stadium. Go up there, get you some lunch or something (the food is real good) and leave your car and walk down to the game. Now if you have friends riding in other cars this might not work, but if you are just taking one car you will be fine. It is also a Shopping Center across the street from the Hero House, you could park there as well. |

new forest car parks? Question: i am trying to find a really nice car park/ view points/ area of forest in the New Forest Nationsl Park for a picnic in a few weeks. Have looked on internet but cant find a map with the car parks on and cant find our hard copy of a map at home... can anyone else find a map of the car parks in the new forest as i really cant!!!! :) Thanks Answer: My wife and I have a favourite car park. At one time you could drive right out into the forest. We used to camp out at nights. It is in the village of Emery Down near Lyndhurst. If you are travelling from Lyndhurst in the direction of Bournemouth you will come to Emery Down. It´s off on a side road on the right of the Bournemouth Road. The area is beautiful. I now live in Spain and miss the New Forest so much. |

Anybody know a good place to tent camp (not in a campground) in PA's Allegheny National Forest? Question: Hi. I want to tent camp in PA in the Allegheny National Forest - just park the car and walk into the woods, but I don't know where to go, or if I need a permit or what. Nearby fishing would be a plus. Any help would be cool. Answer: i have camped there for over 20 years, no permits, no pay, jsut watch for trail signs and DO NOT drive on them. Get onto Route 666 in the Village of Lynch. It is at the end of State Road 1003. you cross over the Tionesta River. now you can go right or left. then just look for gravel roads. i would suggest heading toward Minister Creek. about 2 miles down the road from see through bridge, is a great spot on the left. it is secluded and great fishing. if you need more info let me know. |

Is there a forest or state park near the city in Vancouver, British Columbia? Question: I'm visiting for a few days this summer and will be staying downtown in Coal Harbor. We want to go to a park or area where we can hike for a little while and see the Sequoia trees and other trees native to the Pacific Northwest. We did not plan on renting a car so is there any parks close to the city with some type of public transport that fit this description? Answer: From Coal Harbour you can walk to Stanley Park, its about 800 acres of (kinda) nature within the city limits. The trees represent most of the west coast tree species, and there are a couple sequoias planted there, although they are nothing like the southern Oregon/northern California redwoods. In BC, on the west coast, the dominant tree species are Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Sitka Spruce, Englemann Spruce, Cypress, Western Hemlock, and Arbutus (Madrona), with some maple and alders species thrown in. The public bus system will take you to the park as well, but the walk from Coal Harbour to the park entrance is quite nice, along the waterfront. There is a path around the park which takes you along a seawall that follows Burrard Inlet and gives great views of the Lions Gate Bridge and the harbour. |

I Found a lost cat, in Forest Park, IL? Question: I found a cat in Forest Park, IL. I've been trying to call every animal shelter, and nobody has been able to help. It's been staying outside the building for almost 3 weeks now. Some tenants put food outside their door so he would eat, but nobody takes him in. I'm allegergic to cats, plus my husband doesn't like them. Does anyone who live around this area want this cat? I will have to put him outside again, and I feel sorry for him. I don't have a car so I can't take him to the shelter my self. Thanks Answer: Hi Wendy...because everyone here is located from all over the world consider posting an ad through a free online service such as Petfinder http://www.petfinder.com or your local Craigslist http://www.craigslist.org and look for your state, then nearest city and then under the Community and then subsection Pets. Be sure to ask for a small adoption fee (e.g. $15) to disuade people who are looking for a free pet to sell to research labs, use for dog bait training, snake food or worse mistreatment. Ask prospective adopters that you would like to conduct a home inspection monthly for 3 months to ensure the well-being of the cat as well. You can negotiate the adoption fee if you feel you have found a good home and refund the money after a few months. People scour Craigslist every minute daily so you may find someone pretty quickly. |

CTA Blue line Forest Park Station Parking? Question: I have two questions about parking at Blue line Forest Park Station: 1. Sometimes if I want to pick up friends there(pick up and go), where can I temporarily pull over my car(I just sit in the car without turning off engine)? Last time, I pulled over near the back door(north exit, near the Bus 17 stop), but it is a little far. So where is the most convenient temporary pull over area near the front door(facing south)? 2. Sometimes I may want to take the blue line to downtown, I learned from CTA website that it allows a 12 hour parking for $5. But how is this 12 hour calculated? E.g. if I park at 7:00am, I am sure that I can park until 7:00pm;but what if I park at 1:00pm?Do I need to leave before 12:00am or can I park until 1:00am next day? And is it like I buy a parking ticket and put it in my car after check in? If so, where can I buy the parking ticket? Thanks a lot! Answer: 1. I think that you could probably wait on the side of the entrance road to the southeast of the building entrance. 2. The last (and only) time I parked at the Forest Park station, I used the lot to the north of the station. As I recall, it was a system like at Rosemont where there are machines that you key in your parking space number and pay. The machine prints out a receipt, but you do not put it on your dashboard. The parking machines are located in a shelter between the parking lot and the station. |

Public transit to Haliburton Forest or Algonquin Park? Question: Is there any way to get to either of these parks if you don't have a car? If you get to Haliburton, is there a shuttle or something that will go to them? Answer: During the summer of 2010, Parkbus operated a bus service between Toronto and Algonquin Park. You may want to contact them to find out when the service will operate next year. Hammond Transportation (the contractor for Parkbus) also operated service between Huntsville and Algonquin Park, but their web page for this service shows a schedule for 2008... |

Sheffield to Galloway Forest Park? Question: Hi, I'm wanting to know if anyone knows of any simple-ish ways to get to the Galloway Park Forrest in Scotland, from Sheffield? I don't have a car so I'll be travelling the public way. Thanks if anyone can be of ANY help. Answer: Train from Sheffield to Manchester, then a TransPennine Express service to Carlisle. Then it gets tricky. Probably aa ScotRail train to Dumfries (roughly an hourly service), then its a bus. Use this link to sort your bus out: http://www.travelinescotland.com/welcome.do Its a hard journey by PT, but the Forest Park is well worth the trip. Enjoy your stay! Edit - to save you wasting time, the answer below from Dizzybynt is wrong. There is no CrossCountry service (what used to be Virgin) from Penzance to Glasgow via Manchester. http://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/Find_a_train/Route_map.aspx TransPennine is your best bet: http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/train-destinations/index.htm |

Why do you drive on a parkway and park in a drive way? Question: I know the answer, if yours beats mine you win. My answer: A drive way is a "drive" way because that is the only place on your own personal property that you can drive your car. A parkway goes through parks, forests and such so no need to go slow. Answer: Good answer you got there... now let me ask you this one... Why do you carry cargo on a ship and carry a shipment in a car? Email me back with the answer to that one... cridda_84@yahoo.com |
