Can i claim money for a car stolen from college car park?
Question:
I had my car stolen a few days ago from a college car park. The CCTV just happend to be broken and there is no way enough lighting in the car park. If there anyway i can claim money from the college as my car got stolen. What if i dident sign a disclaimer? Also, i will claim on my insurance. Im just curious if its possible.

Answer:
You claim from your insurance.

A quick count in the college car park tells me that out of 40 cars parked there, 15 are hatch-backs. Assuming?
Question:
Statics Question

Answer:
I don't really understand your question, but I would say if 15 are hatch-backs, then 15 people at college need a good bit of boot space. I would also deduce that 25 cars would not be hatchbacks, so I would say there are 25 teachers and 15 students (with their own cars).

is there a ratio for disabled car park spaces compared to normal spaces in a college car park?

Answer:
In the UK there is a legally government laid down ratio of normal car parking spaces to the minimum required number of disabled spaces provided. The minimum number is 2 marked disabled parking bays or 6% of the total number of bay must be reserved for marked out for disabled parking. Up to 34 bay the requirement is 2 disabled, above 34 bays 6% of the total number of bays must be marked disabled.

Speed signs in College car park ?
Question:
I attend a further education college in the UK and there are 5 mph signs from the entrance all the way to top car park. The trouble is it is very difficult to keep to 5 mph all the time, so I am worried now that if I go over this speed I might get penalty points on my licence if there are any secret speed cameras on the site. Would the same penalties that apply on a normal road apply on a college site e.g. penalty points ?

Answer:
I don't think so as one is controlled by the local authorities and the car park is most likely owned by the college.

where should i park my car during college?
Question:
My college for whatever reason doesnt let freshman park on campus. I need a place to park somewhere near the campus, so that I can drive to work. Also, I dont want to be hanging around the college all the time. What suggesions do you have?

Answer:
Since you can't park on campus, why don't you find a place that you can park near campus and just walk in. For my school, the only place we park is in downtown. So we have to take a bus for about 10 minutes to get ot the parking spots.

Do you need a car if you go to school at the University of Maryland, College Park?
Question:
I am going to graduate school at the University of Maryland, College Park and living close to campus and working on campus. I will probably take the Metro to D.C. all the time to play in the city. Do you think I need a car to get around College Park or for any other reason? Thanks very much in advance!

Answer:
You don't need one

While reversing out of a car park space I damaged another car.?
Question:
Couldn't find out who owned the car as it was in a large college car park, so I took some photos & left my name & phone no: but so far no one has called me back yet. What should I do. I am hoping to pay for damage without going through my insurance company, so do I need to report it.

Answer:
It sounds as though you have done all that you could, perhaps the damage looked worse to you than it actually was. I would just wait a little longer, the person may just be busy? They certainly don't seem to be jumping up and down at you. After all that, now comes the lecture, reverse into a parking space where possible! It is the reason you see people seeming to waste their time doing it. By the way a woman got really upset with me the other day, she was messing about reversing out of her parking slot onto a road, and I got into my car and just drove off in front of her, she broke the law twice, reversing into a main road, (a bus had to stop for her) and sounding her horn at me. Hey ho.

Can You Have Cars On A College University Campus?
Question:
At a college university if you have a dorm can you have a car parked outside the dorm or campus ? How does cars work in college universities ?

Answer:
The answer to this depends on the college. Many do allow students to have cars on campus. But not all of them do. Some that do, don't allow freshmen to have them. Others do. In general, you apply and pay for a parking permit, and you'll get one for a specific lot. That lot is often very far from your dorm. It could be close, but that's pretty rare. At some schools, it's possible to pay more for a lot closer to your dorm. At others, it's done by seniority - freshmen get the furthest lots. At others, it's first come, first served, so get your application and payment in early.

Which neighborhood in College Park, MD is the safest place to live?
Question:
I'm from Florida but I'm attending UMD college park in august. I've heard scary things, but I was just wondering which neighborhoods are a little safer to live in but still be close to UMD. I won't have a car and I plan on working on campus in addition to having night classes. I would so so appreciate any advice from someone familiar with the area because I know no amount of research will get me that kind of knowledge. Thanks you for any help!

Answer:
It is NOT scary at all. I don't know why people think that! PG is known as the worst counties but not every city in this county is bad at all! Cities like Langley Park is bad. I am in the next city and it's FINE. There are nice apartment/condos near Shoppers grocery store off of Rt1 heading toward College Park that is minutes away from UMD. You posted this same question in www.city-data.com/forum/maryland right? Don't judge a place before you see it. Maryland is a wonderful state! Don't be narrow minded. Do you want a full listing of the local places? here- yellowpages.washingtonpost.com/College+Park--2C+MD/Condo s.zq.html www.collegeparkrent.com/ college_park-md.yellowus a.com/Condominiums.html apartments.cazoodle.com/search/city-Co llege%20Park,MD

How do you park at college parties?
Question:
Like these frat parties are in bad neighborhoods, so can I park my car near on a nearby street. Is it safe to leave the car there?

Answer:
I would park my car as close to the frat house as possible. You also might want to invest in a club that fits over your steering wheel.
