"A spring driven car the wheels will turn X amount of times, correct?
Question:
"A spring driven car the wheels will turn X amount of times, correct? The distance traveled will be equal to the number of turns the wheels go through. Does it matter if it's up and down hills to the total distance? assume the coefficient of friction is the same going up as down a hill."

Answer:
Your first statement is wrong. The distance traveled will be equal to the number of turns * Pi * D . Where, D is the wheel Diameter. For the second part, it is a question of occurrence of slip . If there was not, then it does not matter.

Easy to get into Cars Assembled in America?
Question:
My dad has arthritis and wants a car he can get in and out of, but he he also wants a car assembled in America. He's not opposed to foreign brands, he just wants it assembled here. Currently he has a Honda Element, the seat is the right height and the doors are large and open very wide. He's getting tired of it and wants something new. I'm thinking he probably wants to stay with something about mid-sized and SUV-ish or a crossover. I was thinking: Saturn Outlook – Lansing, MI Chevrolet Traverse – Spring Hill, TN Chevrolet TrailBlazer – Moraine, OH & Oklahoma City, OK GMC Acadia – Lansing, MI GMC Envoy – Moraine, OH & Oklahoma City, OK Buick Enclave – Lansing, MI Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matix – Fremont, CA Saturn Vue – Spring Hill, TN Toyota Highlander – Princeton, IN Ford Taurus X – Chicago, IL Honda CR-V – East Liberty, OH (+ many other places) Cadillac SRX – Lansing, MI Mercury Mountaineer - Louisville, KY & St. Louis MO Honda Pilot - Lincoln, AL Subaru Tribeca - Lafayette, IN A more complete list of vehicles assembled in the USA would be awesome, but I couldn't find one. Short of that, other suggestion would be great. Yeah I get that there is more than one way to define 'made in America,' but he wants a car assembled in America, he just does.

Answer:
The reason I bought a 2008 Dodge Nitro was it is 85 percent American made, the highest I could find. It is easy to get in and out of, another reason I liked it. The GM Acadias have a chinese engine, I think :(

my husband has a 565 credit score can we get a mortgage?
Question:
My husband and i both have poor credit and we want to own our own home are credit is poor bc he was in a car accident and lost his job for a year and the medical and credit card bills went un paid due to this .but he has been working for over 3 years steady and now were paying down the debit .We would like to know if anyone knows of a anywhere that does bad credit mortgages .Were looking to buy a house in Spring Hill Florida .

Answer:
You both need at least a 620 FICO score to get a FHA; 720 FICO plus 20% down to get conventional. You also need clean credit reports. That means that all derogatory items are resolved. If the debt showing on your credit report is medical bills and other defaulted debts, you should try to negotiate settlements. Depending on how old the default, you should be able to settle for 25% to 50% in a lump sum. Forget about payment plans. Better to save up for a lump sum offer. Get any settlement agreement in writing before you pay. Keep that settlement along with your paymetn proof forever. Do not give the collector direct access to your bank account. You will need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to improve your score. If you don't have an open, active line of credit, get a credit card, even if you have to get a secured card. use the card for regular small purchase and pay the card in full every month. This will build your good payment history and avoid interest. You may as well plan on waiting at least 3 more years to clear up your reports and build your score, not to mention saving up for a downpayment and closing costs.

Tell whether the following situations illustrate Kinetic energy , potential , or both?
Question:
A stationary wind-up toy with a compressed spring - A descending roller coaster car- A skier poised to take off at the top of a hill- A car driving on a flat road- A vibrating guitar string-

Answer:
Potential Both Potential Kinetic (But there is potential chemical energy in the fuel tank) Both

How can I capture downhill energy in auto?
Question:
I always wondered why an auto can not capture downhill energy into a spring or something to help it up the next hill like the old toy wind up cars. Is there an obvious reason?

Answer:
The car IS using the energy. As long as you aren't accelerating down the hill, the engine is essentially being turned by the wheels moving and really isn't using any gas. If you would try to harness that gravitational energy into a spring or some other mechanism, then your car would not be able to convert the gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy like normal, and it would thus be like driving the car on a flat stretch instead of downhill (as far as gas consumption and the engine is concerned)....good thought though.

Physics spring constant question?
Question:
You have been hired to design a spring launched roller coaster that will carry two passengers per car. Te car goes up a 10m high hill, then descends 15m to the track's lowest point. You've determined that the spring can be compressed a maximum of 2.0 m and that a loaded car will have a maximum mass of 400 kg. For safety reasons, the spring constant should be 10% larger than the minimum needed for the car to just make it over the top. a. What spring constant should you specify? b. What is the maximum speed of a 350 kg car if the spring is compressed the full amount? any help is appreciated!! =) Please help, i have no idea what I am to do!

Answer:
Energy from the spring = Energy absorbed by roller coaster to be able to make it to the top of a 10-meter hill Energy from spring = (1/2)(k)x^2 where k = spring constant x = maximum length where spring can be compressed = 2 m (given) For the roller coaster to make it to the top of the 10-m hill, its energy must be Potential energy = mgh where m = 400 kg (given) g = acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/sec^2 (constant) h = 10 m (given) Therefore, (1/2)(k)(2)^2 = (400)(9.8)(10) k = 400(9.8)(10)/2 k = 19600 N/m << What spring constant should you specify? >> Since it is required that the spring constant must be 10% larger than the minimum required, then k = 1.1*19600 k = 21,560 N/m << What is the maximum speed of a 350 kg car if the spring is compressed the full amount? >> Again, applying the law of conservation of energy, (1/2)(21560)(2)^2 = (1/2)(350)(V^2) where V = maximum velocity of 350-kg car Solving for "V", V = 15.70 m/sec. Hope this helps.
