Where are the food pantries in Plantation, Florida?
Question:
I am homeless and haven't had a meal in a couple days. I've looked on the internet and keep getting the same organizations all located somewhere else. I don't have a car and can't afford to ride a bus to another city. Do you know of any local organizations or churches within Plantation that have food pantries?

Answer:
This is wee hours of Sun. If you haven't had some solid food by today I'm guessing you can go to any catholic church and talk to the priest after or between services or any nun in habit and they are likely to find you something at least to eat. I sure hope so. The one fairly sure place I found doesn't open till 8 Mon. Your county has a 211 system that should be able to immediately direct you to nearby help If no phone is available to you www.211broward.com the main contact info for United Way that sponsors the 211 system is United Way of Broward County 1300 S Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316 (954) 462-4850 211 is a 24/7 service there is also a Homeless Hot line Homeless Helpline 954-563-4357 The one place I found is SOREF JCC W.E.C.A.R.E. PROGRAM 954-792-6700 6501 W Sunrise Blvd, Plantation., FL www.sorefjcc.org "Emergency food available with a referral. Call for an appointment to ensure that food is available and for directions." Feeding South FL is the nearest food bank. It will serve local agencies near you . The web site isn't letting me pull up those locations but you can email mbanton@feedingsouthflorida.org or call 954.518.1818 if you have access to a phone. For more info on help places near you contact St Gregory Catholic Church & School * 200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324 (954) 452-4654 St Gregory's is probably the quickest and closest. It may answer St. Vincent De Paul seminary because it's web site pulls up that way. If it doesn't have a help someone there should be able to tell you who does. Other help directories for your area showing help for many different things you might want http://www.connections.mhabroward.org/needs%20index.html I don't know buses and distances there but there were a bunch of places around Broward County. This directory is a pain to use because you have to first look up the need and find possible agencies then go back, look up the agency to see where they are but it has a ton of info. Here are the agencies that looked as if they might be useful you can look up and see if any of them are where you can get to them. Cooperative Feeding Program Cross Road Food Bank EASE Foundation Gateway Community Outreach Jubilee Center of South Broward Our Father’s House Poverello Center Saint Laurence Chapel Jewish Community Center Shepherd’s Way btw this isn't an instant answer but you do not need an address to qualify for food stamps.

Planning on going to Florida on the 22nd Sept - 8th Oct, will it be quietish?
Question:
Hello Planning on going away this time and wondered if its going to as quiet as it possibly can be? Trying to pick a time where UK kids and US kids are going to be at a minimum and queues etc are going to be as short as they can be? Looking at staying in the Oak Plantation Resort - Vacation Villas with flights and a basic car is about 1800 for 2 so 900 pounds each? Does anyone know where i can get a better deal maybe for those dates? Is it cheapier to just go fly drive and book motels? what do we all think? i have accepted that you cant really get super cheap tickets for the parks. everywhere i have looked is only a saving of maybe 10 pounds but any feedback would be helpful? Planning to go to take in some of the halloween festivities so if anyone has any recommendations on good places to go for that all is welcome! Thanks!!!

Answer:
That's a pretty good time of year. Schools should be in session. Some schools get a break in October, but it is usually mid-to-late October, so you should be hitting a good time. You won't find many deals on cars. Rental companies are mostly the same prices. I'm not sure what you mean by the fly drive question. You should book ahead, if that's what you are asking. It's fine to stay in a villa and rent a car. If you stay at a Disney hotel, you will get free transportation from the airport and on property, so you won't have to rent a car. But if you have a villa, you can buy some groceries and save some money on food. So you will just have to decide which is more effective for you. No, super cheap tickets don't exist. If you find some, they are a scam. I wouldn't buy tickets from anybody but an authorized dealer. Magic Kingdom has a special Halloween party, which you will have to buy a special ticket for. They will have a special parade, rare characters, trick-or-treating, and special decorations. But again, you will have to buy a separate ticket for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It will NOT be included in your regular ticket.

why is it that george zimmerman isn't sitting in a cell.?
Question:
So you can approach a person, as long as he is black get your ass whipped, then turn over and shoot him. Dispatch clearly told this man not to follow. So if its late at night and your in racist florida and you happen to be black looking for your car keys or whatever, a man approaches you, you defend yourself, the man following you can kill you and get away with it. True zimmerman did not plan to shoot him but he did follow him. He is not a police officer and WTF is a stand your ground. There is no such law that clearly states if you are on your way home and someone is following you, you beat the hell out of him, you should be shot. Zimmerman is a idiot. Police told him as clear as day, not to follow and he did anyway. A orlando teen on his way home doped up on sugar see a strange man following him, before he says anything zimmerman ass is beat down. Once he hits the ground martin unleashes the beat down and zimmerman grabs his gun shooting martin. Is that's how it happend and it still doesn't matter how it happend, if that happend. Person A isn't supposed to follow person B because he looks different. Depending on your status meaning your race and where you are, you can possibly be killed just because of your skin color like a dog. In north florida there was a Rosewood massacre of 1923 which killed off dozens of African americans off their land, which is now a ghost town till this day. Not too far south is orlando florida. Lots of these southern states were in fact cotton plantation states back in the late 1800's to early 1900's. So with that being said, once lots of African Americans were purchased and brought to the southern hot climate states, they worked for free for decades. And their new born children were also purchased as workers too. After years of being owned," literally," beat down, and killed on a daily basis, they left. When Africans were first brought over they were given a derogatory title which also never existed. This term is now used in everyday slang. Once the war was over, the Africans now second generation to the first Africans brought over as slaves fought for civil rights from 1896 to 1954. And from that point very little has happened. The same has happened to the indians when the pilgrims came to the now American, which the history books have determine several settlers as ones whom discovered America. After this discovery, while in the growth process of American, settlers acquired land and this land needed to be cared for. Once enough of them found there way to America, someone decided to find free labor. Meaning ask or take some Africans from Africa to work the lands for us. And they did just that. This became a trend for lost of people to own a person to do free labor. And after decades of doing this the Africans grew tired and left. This sparked a deep hatred towards the Africans from slave owners which created shock waves to the present day. After the war, Africans fought for independence and won after gruesome killings, trials by color and murder by the book. Which also sparked turf wars from region to region. In the history books no one knows whom called the first African the "N" word but it was used. During the early 1900's Africans, or the dreaded " N " were able to buy land, start businesses and raise families but this was the start of early segregation. "The isolation of Blacks from non black neighborhoods." Within this deep hatred throughout the time line, hundreds of African Americans were killed during this era just because the government at the time did not see the rights, life or even death of an African American citizen of value. And now fast forward and young African American is killed by an assailant who followed him only to be assaulted in self defense by young martin whom was on his way home. This case only opens the dark era of American history which shows all generations what happen to Africans earlier. Which also bring me to my point where in the bible does it say that Blacks, Africans or "N" are a threat to anyone. The bible clearly says man, rather blue, black, orange, green, yellow or red are all people and the history of this nation has spilt families apart ended lives. So how long will it take for us to get it right.

Answer:
He was sitting in a cell. He's currently out on bail pending his trial. After which he'll be sitting in a cell again for a very long time. That's because Florida has 2 justifiable homicide laws. One is only for incidents where no deadly weapon was used. Since Zimmerman used a pistol, he has no legal excuse under that law. The other is that so-called Stand Your Ground law. Except it doesn't provide Zimmerman with any legal excuse either. Those who think it somehow does are wrong: The Republican politicians who created it are on record stating it doesn't cover situations where someone pursues the victim: Link - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/21/george-zimmerman-trayvon -martin-_n_1371171.html Link - http://globalgrind.com/news/george-zimmerman-no-stand-your-ground -law-jeb-bush-details Zimmerman was recorded admitting to a 911 dispatcher that he was pursuing Martin. So he has no legal excuse for killing Martin under Stand Your Ground either. Since there's no legal reason for finding him innocent, he can't be because he's not. All the prosecution has to prove is that Zimmerman chased Martin. Since that 911 recording does prove it, it'll be a slam-dunk win for the prosecution. There's no doubt whatsoever that Zimmerman will be going to prison. The only question is how many years he'll be sentenced to.

are you for the rebel flag?
Question:
i live in a red neck town it is hard to get away from the rebel flag. people ether have it on there cars, or hanging up as a flag on the outside of there house. if is not on an object it is on people like on tee shirts, what no. so i pretty much see the rebel flag were ever i go! now, here is a history lesson for you the north was more advance than the south. with technological it is still that way today. the south were more into plantations, the south did not want to change there way of life. the north wanted the south to change become more into the factories. so it was just not about slavery the civil war but it was a factor in it. also the north was more educated than the south, it is still that way till this day! now when you see the rebel flag what do you think of? im just not for rebel flags they represent the south when we had slaves, were ignorant. i just don't understand why people wear it so proudly why there so proud to be red necks. why cant we have something else to represent the south, or do we? like a flower thats only native to the south or a gator! alligator only live in Florida why cant that be the sign of the south?

Answer:
The Confederate flag stood for many things but slavery was never one of them. It stood for states being able to govern themselves. It stood for the aristocratic way of life of Southern gentlemen and ladies. It stood for people fighting to preserve their way of life. As with many symbols, there are people that corrupt the true meaning of a symbol either because of a lack of understanding or because of a hatred of those who use it. The symbol known as the "swastika" is another good example. People associate the symbol with racism and hatred but the true meaning of the symbol is very different. Hitler "stole" the symbol from the Native Americans. It is a symbol of life with the four arms representing the four directions and the four elements.

Answer:
My family has always lived in a northern state but the Stars and Bars doesn't bother me. It's a symbol that has many meanings to different people. Some see it as a symbol of being a rebel against society. Others fly it in respect for ancestors who lost their lives fighting for the South in the Civil War. Others see it as a symbol for racial prejudice. I see it as a symbol for States Rights and the tenth amendment. Although I strongly believe in States Rights, I don't have any attachment to the Stars and Bars. Still, I don't find it offensive at all. To do that. I'd have to assume that everyone flying it was flying it for a reason that I find offensive.

I like the rebel flag. It helps me identify the 'tards, like an early-warning system. "Rebel Flag Detected! Probability of Nimrod Approaching: High! Arm all weapons!"
