Tropical storm (?? hurricane ) Fay is a slow moving storm that dumping excessive amounts of rain in it's path. As for the direct hit to Pensacola that is hard to say so farr. The tracking maps and models show 3 possible routes One goes into southern Georgia and Central Alabama. Another shows it moves into north east Florida and goes thru southern Georgia and southern Florida. And the 3 rd shows the storm heading along the Gulf Coast of the panhandle. Any of the routes could drop alot of rain on the coast and most ground routes to Pensacola.But if you want to go be careful and watch for the rain and storms.

Iknow i'm goign to pensacola florida for my a-school. Just curiosu what it's like, what there is to do on the weekends, and how busy i'll really be! lastly, do i need a car, i have one now but was plannign on selling it when i went to bot camp to avoid insurance and loan payments exc. i didn't think i'd probably need a car enough in the navy to keep one. so tell me about it, can i get along fine without a car? is there things to do? i know i'm going to be in school a ton and studying a ton, but i am just tryign toget a feel for life.

Pensacola is a pretty small town, so there isn't all that much to do. Lots of people get in trouble and get kicked out for smoking pot, underage drinking, drunk driving, etc. You WILL get tested for drugs and alcohol, so stay away from any drugs if you want to finish. Don't drink unless you are 21, and don't drive if you are drinking. Those base police will pull your butt over and bust you in a heartbeat. A DUI can derail your career. There are buses and taxis, so you don't really need a car while you are there. Selling yours to save money is a good idea. You can always catch a ride and pay gas if you're going somewhere. That's much cheaper. A lot of guys have 75% of their pay going to car they can hardly use. Don't be one of those guys. :-) After A school, you'll go out to the fleet for years, so you won't have any need for a car anyway. Why make payments for a car when you're out on a carrier or something? Good luck. Study hard and you can make the Navy a great career.
