What's the Expense of living in Florida?
Question:
I would like to move to Florida but I've been reading that there are some areas that are very dangerous, some that have a lot of Inappropriate people and some areas that are really expensive and or have a lot of hurricanes. Well I wanted to know how much on average would a person need in order to make a comfortable living in Florida, such as renting a 4 bedroom town home or a two bedroom apartment? I'm looking for a safe neighborhood, one where there's barely any crime, hurricanes and other negative things, I read that oviedo Florida is a very nice, safe and family friendly area and was probably thinking of moving there. I'm looking for an area that's always warm (can't stand the cold) and am willing to pay up to $1,200 a month for living expenses, I also am aware that I'll need a car since the bus line down there is terrible (so I've read). Also is it hard to get a job down there because of there being so many people, and just living in Florida due to so much competition that's there and high prices (I mean I don't know if it's expensive down there because some have said that it is and some say it's not). For those that live in Florida or lived there, do you think I would be better off staying where I'm at or should I take that step of faith and start my life in Florida? Also my job skills are unstable and mostly have done summer jobs and some temps, so out of all my jobs I haven't stayed on a job for more than a few months, will that cause a really big problem for me if I move down there, will I be able to find any part-time work that pays enough to pay the bills or a entry-level job that's willing to train. I never moved out on my own and wanted to know what's the best and safest place in Florida to live for newbies.

Answer:
To be honest with you, I don't think you're ready to move out on your own let alone Florida. You need to have some marketable skills to stand a chance at employment and it's not cheap to live in Florida to begin with. Speaking of employment, the unemployment rate in Florida is still high and there's lots of competition for the few jobs that are available. Your lack of skills and an unstable work history won't win you points with any employer. Also, you need work to work full-time in order to pay the bills. A part-time job won't cut it unless you have multiple roommates. Yes, Florida is expensive, especially in the more desirable areas like the neighborhood you described. Rent alone for a nice 4 bedroom home in a nice area of Oviedo runs well north of $1200 a month. With other expenses factored in including utilities, insurance, maintenance, repairs, groceries, services, etc., your living expenses may be north of $2500 a month. In Florida, you get what you paid for. Yes, you need a car to get anywhere in Florida. Everything here is spread out. Bottom line: Don't move to Florida until you have marketable skills, a job lined up, and money.

IM 19 and about to be homeless?
Question:
ok so im 19 years old. i have not been living with my parents since i was 17 years old and have been living and renting with a friend for the past 2 years. i completed high school no problem and got a job easy enough too. Unfortunately i lost my job about 3 weeks ago and my so called family friend is trying to tell me that i should have had a job by now in only 3 weeks. I tried to explain to her that asking me to find a job in 3 weeks is really hard being that the economy sucks and i fill out an average of 20 applications a day with follow up calls. Still she wants to throw me out on the street and i have no where to go and have researched and cant find much information on getting help. I know she cant throw me out without legal eviction so that buys me at least 10 days plus weekends to get something figured out. i have a car that i own but no insurance since i lost my job. i cant get unemployment because i wasnt at one job long enough to get the benefits. i really need help because i have no money i applied for food stamps and they wont give them to me cause im not over 21 and i even filled out a absent parent form for that too with no luck. im scared and dont know what to do. please any serious help and answers are needed. I live in central Florida in Oviedo and have 10 dollars in change that i need to use for gas to get to a shelter if need be. Well im a 19 year old male and the only reason i still have a computer is because i havent been to the pawn shop yet. so name calling was uncalled for. anyways i cant get a job at mcdonalds because i have worked there twice when i was 16 and quit once without notice which was really stupid of me. i would sell my car but i own it and really its the best shelter i can have atm. i found some homeless hotline and called them and they told me a few things that i could do to try and prevent this from happening. i guess ill just have to take it one day at a time cause i have already pawned almost everything i own except my computer and my phone that my aunt pays for. and my parents live in arizona so moving back in with them isnt an option. i was basically kicked out at 17 by my step mom cause i was just " part of the package" for her marrying my dad after my real mom died. but ill try to keep u updated on whats going on and i appreciate the fast responses. i really do.
