Is a car needed in North Miami?
Question:
I'm planning on moving to North Miami this summer for college to attend JWU. I'm wondering if a car is necessary? Is public transportation good in that area? In the dc are we have zipcar and flexcar(car sharing/rental) I'm just wondering if they are planning on expanding zipcar or flexcar down to miami?

Answer:
It is good to have a car in Florida, especially Miami. I know we really don't have bus problems. So if you want to wait a while then by all means. As far as this Haitian Gangsters stuff.... They are not they only ones with AKs. A lot of people have easy access to them and it is not only Haitians. They are just the ones that have been pinpointed. If I wanted to I can get an AK. In most major cities you must be careful at night. You are subject to all the homeless people and other hoodlums that hang around at night trying to cause trouble. Just be safe because it is nighttime in a big city. Not because of the Haitians in North Miami. Use that and you should be safe all of your life.

How and where can I ship a car from North Miami (Biscayne) to Antigua?
Question:
Also, can I ship a car that is over 10 years old? The car is a 1999 Honda Civic Ex, but is in very good condition. Please let me know asap. Thank you .

Answer:
To ship a car to another country, you can use international shipping services, there are quite number of them, just search for local agent in your area or you can doing little research on internet. This website may helpful http://www.a1autotransport.com/services/international-ca r-shipping.php Age of the cars is not a problems in my opinion, but at first it may be a better idea if you are checking for regulation in destination country, if you are allowed to import 12 years old car there, it's okay to go. Just remember that different country have different regulation for imported cars, you also will involved with import taxes, and it could be not cheap, so if the shipping prices not worth for your old car, better to sell it and buy a new one there.

north miami beach without a car?
Question:
hello I am moving from England to North Miami beach and wondering if I could get by without a car. I neeed to travel to centre everyday. Could you tell me more abou Norh Miami beach if you are from Miami Please compare it to london thanks

Answer:
You could definitely get by without a car. The area is fairly walkable (though some parts might be unsafe), and there are numerous bus routes that pass through the area. Most notably, the #2, #3, #9, #10, and #16 connect you to Downtown Miami, and during rush hour, the #93 runs parallel to the #3, but makes limited stops, speeding up your trip. As the previous poster mentioned, you can speed up your trip by taking a bus over to the Golden Glades Park-and-Ride (that would be the #22 or "E" routes), and then taking the #95 bus directly downtown. But for travel around your area (for day-to-day needs), you should be able to walk or use transit for your trip. I hope this information was very helpful.

How do I get from Fort lauderdale airport to North Miami.?
Question:
I am planning a trip to miami beach to stay with a friend who is also vacationing there. My question is what is the best way to get from Miami beach to the Lauderdale airport or vice versa. I do not have a drivers lisence so driving or renting a car is out of the question, I will also be on a tight budget so the cheapest will be greatly appreciated. Are the taxis expensive from the airport?

Answer:
There are shuttles which should take you for about $20, or you can take the bus to the train for about $5. A taxi would be $50, not a good deal unless there were two or three of you.

Ft Lauderdale Airport to North Miami Beach?
Question:
Next month I'll be flying in to Ft Lauderdale Airport and my hotel is in Sunny Isles Beach (North Miami). There will be 2 of us. Our hotel doesn't offer a shuttle (it's a 2 star hotel). We're not renting a car because we'll be in Sunny Isles, literally, the entire time we're there. What are some suggestions for how we should travel from the airport to the hotel? Looking for quickest and cheapest, but open to any suggestions. Thanks :)

Answer:
FLL to Miami A cab will run about $35.00 + tip. Go Airport shuttle is the contract shared ride carrier at FLL. Pick them up outside arrivals. No reservation necessary but you have to wait until the van fills up. Look for their dispatcher. Don't know what they charge to Sunny isles.Their phone is: 954-561-8888; floridalimo.com. For 2 people the cab may be a better deal. There is a Tri-rail option. Pick up the Tri-Rail shuttle at the bus stop outside arrivals. Tri-Rail is a commuter line that runs every half hour at rush hours; every hour during mid-day; every two hours on weekends and not at all from about 10:00 PM to 5:00 am. So if your timing is right this may work & save a few dollars, but for a short trip to North Miami Beach the savings are not worth the lost time & inconvenience. The cab from the NMB station to Sunny Isles will eat up most of the cost savings. For max savings & max time there's even a way to do it by bus: Take Broward #1 bus South (Bus stop outside arrivals) to the end of the line at Aventura Mall. There you take the Miami Dade S bus south along Collins Ave to the stop closest to your hotel. Both buses are locals so this will take time, but the total will be less that $5.00 per person. Is it safe to drive from the Miami airport up to Palm Beach Gardens?
Question:
Our family is flying into Miami. We are going to rent a car & drive north up to Palm Beach Gardens. (We are unable to fly into Palm Beach airport, we have to fly into Miami). My question, is it safe to drive from the Miami airport up to Palm Beach Gardens? We are not hicks (we are from Chicago), but people hear horror stories about everywhere. We've heard stories that thugs can tell which cars are rental cars & might shoot at you, etc. Are the highways safe? Are their dangerous people lurking for tourists? To the first two answerers, thanks for being such saracastic assholes.

Answer:
Just like any city, Miami has some bad parts. Stay out of those parts and you'll be fine. When leaving the airport, look for signs to 836. You can then either take it East and get on I-95 North or you can take 836 West and get on the Florida Turnpike. I don't remember whether it's listed as North or West at that point. Both routes will take you up to Palm Beach Gardens. If you can fly into Fort Lauderdale, it's closer.

Best way from Miami international to North Ft Lauderdale, train to FLL then?
Question:
Heard the train from MIa to FLL is reasonable, how to get to zip 33334 in Ft Lauderdale without paying 50 bucks. Might as well get a room at a nice hotel and free shuttle it or rent a car for 1 day, kinda sucks because i have a car waiting for me there! Any creative ideas?

Answer:
Zip 33334 is the Oakland Park neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale. Once you take the Tri-Rail, you need to get off at the Cypress Creek station. From there, there are several buses that go into the surrounding neighborhoods, and one of them should be able to bring you to your hotel (see the map for help planning travel directions). If not, I'm sure there are taxis waiting at the station that can take you the last mile or so to your hotel. I hope this information was very helpful.
