How do I get to Key Largo Florida? Question: What is the closest major airport to Key Largo, Florida? And how do I get from there to Key Largo? Do I need to rent a car or do they have some kind of shuttle service for tourists? I'm planning to go there in September to do some diving. And I don't like to drive. Answer: Key Largo is in the Upper Keys so the closest airport to it is Miami International Airport. Key Largo is about 1 hour 20 minutes (60 miles) away from Miami Airport. As for transportation since you don't like driving then you can take the Keys Shuttle down to Key Largo for a price of $60 bucks oneway. http://keysshuttle.com/ |

Living in Key Largo Florida? Question: I have started to look at a potential relocation to either Key Largo or Key West Florida from Iowa. I was just wondering if you could tell me whether or not I need a car to get around in either place or if things are close enough to walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation without having to leave hours early. I have begun looking at jobs as well and now I'm starting to look into possible places to live...any suggestions? Thanks for the time and help Answer: To take care of all your business, walking would be a struggle, especially in Key Largo. Even if your residence, girl friend, job, pub, and the grocery store were close together, you'll have to deal with the heat, high humidity, and unexpected rain showers from May through October. I'll pass on the walking. A bike would work in both Key Largo and Key West if your destinations are reasonably close together. The main road through Key Largo, the Overseas Hwy (US 1) has a bike lane, but that would be a risky ride with the volume of car traffic on 1, so the occasional sidewalk might be the better path. Your bike should have a hefty basket to carry stuff because grocery stores certainly do not deliver. Greyhound runs from Miami to Key West a couple of times each day, but there's no building terminal or ticket service in Key Largo. A big plus is the express bus service provided by the county that runs almost hourly from Florida City (south of Miami), through Key Largo, and on to Marathon. The fare is cheap and it's supposed to stop most anywhere along the way. Here's the link to that service... http://www.monroecounty-fl.gov/Pages/MonroeCoFL_CommS erv/express If Key West will be your home, there's local bus service throughout the city and it's great. You also might want to consider buying a used motor scooter, which are popular in Key West. Good luck finding the island life. |

Are the Florida Keys crowded during spring break? Question: My parents and I are planning on going on a vacation when I'm off for spring break..we found a hotel in Tavernier so we will most likely be doing things in the area of Key Largo. We would have to rent a car from the airport in Miami in order to get there. Is there a lot of traffic and will it be crowded? Answer: Yes, and yes.... But the only big problem will be driving down to Key West - it is a 2-lane highway much of the way, but hey - it's Florida in the springtime, so just relax and enjoy it! It is well worth the drive! We found a great little Italian restaurant in Key West called Abondanza - if it is still there check it out - great food at fair prices. And have a soda or drink on the rooftop bar at the hotel (forget the name) where you can watch the sun set over the ocean - nice! |

Narrow gauge railroad? Question: I was looking at the largo Florida railroad and I looked into gauges of railroad. I thought it would be cool to instead of making a model train layout I could find some property and make a layout with ride able trains. I would like to know a website I could go to that sells track, locomotives, and cars and accessories for 5 gauge and 7 and 1/2 guage. Also, for 5 and 7 and 1/2 guage does the track come assembled like a model would or would I have to build it just like standard gauge railroad? I would also like to check into narrow gauge like 2 ft gauge and other narrow gauges. Answer: You must have a lot of cash burning a hole in your pocket. Go to this web site for info on 7 and 7 1/2 scale. http://www.livesteamlocomotives.com/id1.html This size model can cost tens of thousands. 2 foot narrow gage will cost millions since it is a full size rail system ( visit the web site for Durango and Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad) |

how can i go about getting emancipated in florida at 16? Question: ok,i need to know how i can get emancipated, here is a short summed up version of my life,my mom was a stripper, thats how i was born, she didnt know who the dad was untill i was 5years old,and even after she found out who my dad was,3 years later after i was born,my mom was pregnant with my step sister and her father was who we were living with,he did coke, sold it and did it,all the time,my mom told me he used to let it lay around on the table.well when i was five my step dad(my sisters dad) thought that i deserved to know who my father was,but my mom didnt want him to be apart of my life, but i met him, eventually, then like a month after meeting him,he came by my house, gave me his bird and left me,he moved to canada to marry some lady, who didnt like me,then ended up cheating on him,so he moved to ohio, long story short,i wittnessed my mom try to kill herself aproxamatly 7 times,4 were in frount of me,one was a call, and one i saw her get carried away on a stretcher for overdosing.but before the suicidal things took place,my mom and my sisters dad got into many physical fights,so my mom and me moved out and seriously moved in with any guy she met,she moved me & her in with a guy that she knew for 3 days,in largo,so i moved with my grandma, whos a major acoholic,i literally had to pick her up off the ground every night, and my mom was being bakeracted for drugs,so one day my sisters dad came over and saw how i was living and somehow got ahold of my dad,& my dad sold everything he had to move down to florida for me,so he picked me up one day and we bought a house in hudson,i lived there for 3 years, that was the longest ive ever had a home, but he was really strict and i wasnt used to that,so we always got into fights and last valentines day i decided to move back in with my mom,so while my dad was at work,my mom drove to get me,at my school,we went back to my dads house, packed up everything i needed into trash bags, and left,i know i hurt my dad,but i was being selfish and i really regret it,so me and my mom were living with her boyfriend for almost a year, then they started getting into alot of fights,so my mom left to stay with my aunt, shes 16,& her godfather, hes 57,well my mom was trying to talk me into moving in there with them, and my aunt eventually talked me into it,so we moved in there, then about a week later my mom went to rehab,so for the whole month that my mom was gone,my aunt was making my life a living hell,so my other aunt called me saying that i needed to go live with her,she lives like 3 hours away & we never really talked,so i turned down the offer, but then my 16year old aunt made it sound like my other aunt wanted to come and get me right then and there, which wasnt the case, she just wanted to start shit,so my mom had some document signed saying i couldnt go anywhere without her approved signature,so i considered myself under house arrest, and once i turned 16,i didnt go to school, because my mom was in rehab and i just didnt care, then my mom got kicked out of rehab,so a few days before christmas my mom decided to go see her ex,well the godfather we were living with became obssessed with my mom,so he got really pissed off,and tried to shoot himself infrount of me and my aunt,it was tramatizing.so we moved out of there not too long ago,but while we were there we were pretty much spoiled,he bought my mom a nice car and everything, well one night he threatend my mom,so we moved in with my grandpas a few weeks ago,and he recently had surgery and isnt in the best condition,so in a few weeks we are moving into my moms ex boyfriends appartment complex, and i dont want to because its happend before and they just ended up getting back together,i dont want to go there because he raped me,and the only person that knows that is my boyfriend,i cant tell anyone, and i was previously raped by a 21 year old also, but it was about a year and a half ago so there wasnt much they could do a year later,so i want to,oh and i called my dad a few months ago to see if i could come back,he said he lost the house his job his car, everything,i feel like its my fault, and he told me he moved to the cayman islands but he doesnt have enought room or money to take me there with him,so i want to get emanciapted and live with one of my friends or boyfriend, but i know my mom would be completly against it,so im considering just asking her if i could move out for a little while untill things settle down, but i dont know how to ask or even aproach her with that sort of thing, help?! Answer: What is "Emancipation"? Emancipation is when a child (a minor) legally gets some of the rights of adults. For example, signing contracts, choosing where to live, and enrolling in school. How do I get emancipated? There are 3 ways a child can become emancipated: get married join the military, or go to court and have the judge declare you emancipated ("judicial declaration"). Do I need my parents' consent (permission) to get emancipated? If you ask a judge to declare you emancipated, you must give notice to your parents. Your parents can consent to the emancipation or they can go to court to contest the emancipation. If you are not emancipated, you need your parents’ consent to join the military. If you are not emancipated and you want to get married, you need your parents’ consent and a judge’s consent.~ |

Should I go? (Someone give me some advice, please!)? Question: Okay, so here's the situation. My College is sponsoring a spring break trip to Key Largo, Florida in march 2012 and I'm wondering if I should go or not.For those of you who don't know, WV is buried under feet of snow in march, so some sun would be a blessing. This seems like it should be an easy decision to make right? Not really and I'd love if you'd give me some advice. The trip is 600$ which is a lot of money; My parents say they will give me half of, but we're already on a tight budget and can barely pay the bills now. I'd have to use some of my textbook money to go. They keep insisting that I go and not to worry about the money, but of course I do worry about the money and I don't want them to have to give up things for me. They would do anything for me, but I want to give them things, not take things away from them. On the other hand, my guy friend is also going and I have a huge crush on him. He has no idea. I'm hoping some fun in the sun away from college stress will change things, maybe not but it's an entertaining thought. Another problem is that the school is driving us down in vans to save money. Yes, a 19-21 hour drive from good old West Virginia. I can barely stand to be in a car for more than 2 or 3 hours for extreme boredom and irritability on my part. How could I possibly entertain myself for that long of a drive? There is also the problem of should I save the money or go on a trip I'll probably never get a chance to take again? Did I mention that I can't swim that great and one of the activities is scuba diving? The school hasn't taken a spring break trip in the last 5 years or so, so this is quite the chance of a lifetime. Answer: goooo, if your worried about your parents and money that just proves how much more you deserve this trip. and think of it this way, youll have a cute boy to keep you company on that boring car ride. its the chance of a life time in muliple ways, and i cant think of any other way to get closer to the boy you like. dooo it, life is all about chances, who cares if you cant swim. itll be an experiance of a lifetime. go, have a blast, and get that boy!
