What device gets cars to start in the winter?
Question:
We have a question in science that asks us about a device used in the North to get cars to start (because motor oil gets too viscous). I figured that the answer is heaters, but then the next question asked what they do if THAT doesn't work. I don't live in the North and I haven't a clue, so does anyone know?

Answer:
Device gets cars to start in the winter... A good battery would be a very good start.

is it possible to find parking in metro north new haven station on friday pm around 6pm?
Question:
is it safe to leave the car in the parking lot over a weekend?

Answer:
You should. A lot of people will be coming back from the city in the evening. If you don't immediately see something just wait for a train to arrive and then some people will leave. It's ok to leave your car there for the week end, no worries.

What is the best Metro-North station to leave from coming from New Haven?
Question:
I'm going to a Knicks game and want to know what the best station to leave from would be. I own a car so driving to a station is not an issue.

New Haven

what is the average of full coverage car insurance for a chavy blazer 2001 in north Carolina?
Question:
I am planing to buy a chavy blazer 2001 used car. I know I will need full coverage insurance. I am a good driver, haven't have any accidents or traffic violations. How much would the car insurance cost in North Carolina?

Answer:
A number of factors can affect the cost of your automobile insurance. Age, make and model of car, driving record, purpose the car serves, where you keep and drive your car, and your credit rating all affect insurance rates. Ways to lower your rates: There are a number of things you can do to lower your rates. Here are some tips: 1) It pays to shop around. You can often find policies that vary hundreds of dollars for the same coverage on the same car. 2) Choose an automobile that is inexpensive to insure. 3) Ask your insurer if they offer any discount plans. Most insurance companies have both vehicle and operator discounts. 4) Raising your deductible can lower your premiums. Make sure you can afford a higher deductible. 5) Drive defensively. 6) Improve your credit history. While it is helpful to know you have a Blazer, the main two factors are your age & zip code. I will be travelling from Baltimore to Hatteras Island in North Carolina's Outer Banks.?
Question:
I am travelling on either a Friday or Saturday. I understand that there are several routes I can take. What are your recomendations? Is it better to fly and then rent a car? I haven't done many long road trips by myself. Many thanks.

Answer:
This is the way my family has always traveled...to the outer banks From the North Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, Va. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway.* Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow this road to The Outer Banks. *Chesapeake Expressway is a toll-road which costs $2.00 each way, EZPass and SmartTag accepted.

Permanent vehicle registration in North Carolina?
Question:
I bought a car on November 13th from a dealer in North Carolina. They gave me a 30-day plate and registration but it's now the 12th of December and I still haven't received my permanent plate or registration. What do I need to do?

Answer:
Call the dealer, or better yet, stop in and get a new temp tag. Do it Monday before the cops pull you over. Rag on the sales guy and get your new tags and plates. Car dealers take too long to process the paperwork so get on their case.

Is there a statute of limitations for filing a suit in small claims court in North Carolina? Car accident.?
Question:
I was the victim of a rear end collision, and haven't been able to afford filing the papers...yet. I'm thinking I'm through, as far as any chance of pursuing the driver who hit me. It happened over a year ago, and because of a false statement given, their insurance denied me. I lost my car through no fault of my own, and I now have the money to file the case, but don't know if I can. I think it's too late. I live in New Hanover County. Wilmington N.C.

Answer:
If you are interested in looking at the statute, you can find it here: http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/ByArticle/C hapter_1/Article_3.html If you were rear ended, you should sign a contingent fee agreement with a personal injury attorney. He will handle it for you and he gets paid only if you win.

Why do North American car makers persist with stone age technology? Is it costs? Lack of investment?
Question:
I haven't seen drum brakes, leaf springs, two valve per cylinder engines etc in European cars since the early 90s. Yet they are still for sale in a wide range of North American built vehicles. I can kind of see why trucks might be better with drums (less brake fade/overheating when towing), but cars with leaf springs? Pushrod engines?? Come on, this is 2011. chewy ivan 2; Cars here are certainly cheaper than they are in Europe, and if consumers here prefer cheaper, less modern cars to more technologically advanced ones, then that's fine. I can definitely see why people will go for a 'base' car just for cost alone, but when you have outfits like Dodge offering pushrod engines in the SRT8 models.... truth dealer; Well, the UK gallon is 4.55 litres, compared to the US gallon at 3.8 litres, so that will explain much of what you see. Ford is actually one of the better makes when it comes to technology and fuel efficiency, but those drum brakes are still there in their lineup. I am not exaggerating when I say that if a car maker offered drum brakes in Britain or Germany, people would laugh at the sales staff when they noticed. ou812; Many of the BMW & Mercedes sold in North America are built here, usually in the USA or Mexico. It is instructive to note that these are almost invariably the least reliable of these marques.

Answer:
and pushrods!!!!! toyota recently joined nascar....can you imagine the look on the enigineer's faces when the boss told em to design a pushrod engine for nascar?!??? hahahahahahaaa but to be fair, there is some pretty awesome tech being lead out of detroit. ford is pretty much on the outer fringes of the edge. (with no help from the gov't, i might add)

Answer:
There is one on Rt. 46W in Pine Brook. But the vacuums are outside of a carwash, not a gas station.
