Winter or All-Season Tires in Hartford, CT?
Question:
I've just moved to East Hartford, CT from Texas and am trying to prepare for the winter. The current tires on my car are quite worn and I will be replacing them when winter starts. Should I go for winter tires or all-season tires? I don't anticipate I will be going on many remote roads, so will all-season tires suffice? Or are winter tires a safer bet?

Answer:
Winter tires are not like All-Season tires. Winter tires have special rubber compounds designed to improve traction, handling and braking in all cold weather conditions, not just ice and snow... Winter Tires are designed to deliver safety and control in snow, ice, and cold weather conditions. Many people think that all-season tires can deliver this same performance, but this is not true. The superior traction that winter tires deliver, as much as a 25 to 50 percent increase over all-season tires, can very well be the margin you need to stop in time or turn to avoid trouble.

lessons for bank robbers?
Question:
PICK THE RIGHT BANK You don't want to make the same mistake as the fellow in Anaheim, CA, who tried to hold up a bank that was no longer in business and had no money. STUDY YOUR HISTORY Don't try to stick up the First National Bank of Northfield, Minnesota. Jesse James tried it 111 years ago, and the townsfolk took just seven minutes to kill two and capture three of his gang. Nobody tried again until 1984, and the customers chased the guy down. They're tight with their dollar, those Minnesotans. SPEAK TO THE RIGHT TELLER One robber in Upland, CA, presented his note to the teller, and her father, who was in the next line, got all bent out of shape about it. He wrestled the guy to the ground and sat on him until authorities arrived. DON'T SIGN YOUR DEMAND NOTE Demand notes have been written on the back of a subpoena issued in the name of a bank robber in Pittsburgh... on an envelope bearing the name and address of another in Detroit....and in East Hartford, Connecticut, on the back of a withdrawal slip giving the robber's signature and account number. DON'T ADVERTISE A teenage girl in Los Angeles tried to distract attention from her face by wearing a see-through blouse with no bra while holding up banks. GO EASY ON THE DISGUISE One robber, dressed up as a woman with very heavy make-up, ran face first into a glass door. He was the first criminal ever to be positively identified by lip-print. TAKE RIGHT TURNS ONLY Avoid the sad fate of the thieves in Florida who took a wrong turn into the Homestead Air Force Base, drove up to a military police guardhouse and, thinking it was a toll-booth, offered the security men money. BE AWARE OF THE TIME Or the chagrin of the bank robber in Cheshire, Massachusetts, who hit the bank at 4:30 PM, then tried to escape through downtown North Adams, where he was trapped in rush hour traffic until police arrived. CONSIDER ANOTHER LINE OF WORK Bank robbery is not for everyone. One nervous Newport, RI robber, while trying to stuff his ill-gotten gains into his shirt pocket, shot himself in the head and died instantly. BE STRONG Then there was the case of the hopeful criminal in Swansea, Massachusetts, who, when the teller told him she had no money, fainted. He was still unconscious when the police arrived. His getaway car, parked nearby, had the keys locked inside it.

Issue with my father today?
Question:
My father and I had a major conflict today. This morning before school, I had went into my parents' bedroom looking at the TV, to see if my school would have a delayed opening or possibly be closed. My father was in an immediate rush to prepare for work, and had told me to leave, even though I literally needed three more seconds to view the 90min/ 2 hr delay and closed schools list. It was at East Haddam Schools ( I live in East Hartford), so it would have been next if my school did have a 90 min delay or was closed. Anyway, I was in haste to find out and walked in regardless. My father became very upset and pushed me, I sort of pushed him back and World War III began. I was wrapped up in my blanket still. He subsequently verbally attacked me calling me a faggot, punk, etc. My mother thought he needed to calm down. I spoke to the school psychologist during school about it. This was just part one. Later on in the afternoon when he picked me up from school, I got overly cocky on the car ride home, snapping fingers like a teenage female (NOT gay), and contradicting what he was saying. He threatened to send me away somewhere. It took a lot of talking peacefully calm him down. He struck me in the mouth busting my lip. Just a few hours ago, he bought me a laptop because of a deal I made for having good grades, and that's when his indignation started to foil. He asked me if I was retarded just a little while after returning home with the laptop, when commanding me to do something which I won't mention. And it seemed as if I had even slighty argued, he would have exploded again. The relationship isn't strong between the two of us. Any advice?

Answer:
This one sentence you made is the one that concerns me, "He asked me if I was retarded just a little while after returning home with the laptop, when commanding me to do something which I won't mention." Why can't you mention what he commanded you to do? Parents should be forbearing and patient with their children and should not ask them to do something that is bad for them to do. I hope this isn't YOUR case. You hear about bad things that happen to kids in the home, so naturally I could be seeing something that isn't there? I hope your alright and if you need to talk to anyone feel free to write to me and your not retarded. Some parents can be cruel sometimes when they get angry.

Answer:
There are some terrible spelling mistakes. A bar owner is a busy guy and they do not have time to look at your resume. You must catch there attention. You can see some FREE bartending resume examples here at http://www.bars-and-bartending.com/bartender-resume.html It also includes how to dress, what to expect and what to say/not to say. Like "I haven't been to jail yet" or "mom had me vaccinated when I was a kid". Don't tell them when your were unemployed, and one summer you learned to drive a fork lift. anyways here's the link, it's very helpful and you need lots of help. http://www.bars-and-bartending.com/how-to-become-a-bartender.html

What would YOU do?? Snow Storm......?
Question:
I live in RI and there is a Winter Storm Warning.. Here it is: A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 3 AM EST SATURDAY. THIS WINTER STORM WARNING IS FOR ALL OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND EXCEPT FOR THE CAPE AND ISLANDS. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP FROM WEST TO EAST LATE THIS MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. LATEST INDICATIONS ARE FOR SNOW TO BEGIN IN THE GREATER HARTFORD SPRINGFIELD AREAS AND THE I 91 CORRIDOR BETWEEN 10 AM AND NOON. SNOW WILL THEN OVERSPREAD THE REMAINDER OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND... INCLUDING EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND BETWEEN NOON AND 3 PM. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY SOON AFTER ONSET. THEREFORE... TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED DURING THE AFTERNOON THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE LIKELY FROM MID AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING HOURS. ROADS DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING COMMUTE WILL BE SNOW COVERED AND TREACHEROUS. THE SNOW SHOULD TAPER TO SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE INTERIOR DURING THE EVENING HOURS... BUT A STEADY LIGHT SNOW WILL LIKELY CONTINUE WELL INTO THE NIGHT ACROSS EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND. IN ADDITION... NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... ESPECIALLY ACROSS EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND. THIS WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW... RESULTING IN VERY POOR VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. A SHORT PERIOD OF BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS EASTERN PLYMOUTH AND COASTAL ESSEX COUNTIES VERY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. AT THIS TIME... IT LOOKS AS THOUGH MOST OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND WILL RECEIVE 8 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOWFALL BY MIDNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT... WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. AGAIN... TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT AT BEST. ONLY VENTURE OUT IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN AN AVERAGE OF 6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD... OR FOR 8 OR MORE INCHES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. TRAVEL WILL BE SLOW AT BEST ON WELL TREATED SURFACES... AND QUITE DIFFICULT ON ANY UNPLOWED OR UNTREATED SURFACES. ANd here is my situation.. I work 7:30-4. My boss is out on sick leave ATM so I have to deal with her boss, and she isnt the nicest. But anyhow, I am very worried that the roads will be so bad that something could go wrong, and I have a very old car (92 New Yorker) which doesnt do so well in the snow. So I am thinking it would be in my best interest to leave early and make sure I go get Brody before it gets real bad, Buy my boss wont let me just leave because of my concerns, her only priority is making sure the desks are covered. So I am considering going to Employee Health and faking sick, am I being absolutely ridiculous here, or would any of you do the same?? I just remember last year when this happened, and people abandoned their car after being in traffic for over 6 HOURS!!! * Being in traffic for 6 hours, when being less than an hour from their home* That's the thing, I do not have anyone to go get him. His daycare is right by my work..but I do not have people that care for him like that, once in a while my mom willl, but she is also working. And I work in Providence, and I live in Pawtucket, so it isnt far exactly, but I do use the highway and it takes about 20 minutes usually with the afterwork traffic, I am just worried it will be so much worse.... Oh no, it doesnt work like that, I cannot just "announce" Im leaving, Not in my job anyhow, there has to be a reason or she will write me up. ANd I cannot use sick time unless there is a reason. See the thing is, yesterday at the meeting we had, I said to her that if it gets too bad out then I will have to leave early to go get my son. Her response was, for me to bring my toothbrush, and send extra formula with Brody. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?! Yes I work at RIH SO my bosses boss is soooo concerned about the image we have and all that.... She forgets that we are people with LIVES! Okay well for anyone who checks back on this question LOL I have gone to Employee Health for diareaha and they have ordered me to go home. I am just awaiting the coverage to come in...... Problem solved ;)

Answer:
No, you're not ridiculous! We're getting hit by the same storm. My son's school fortunately canceled, but if they hadn't, I would have pulled him out. There's no way we're going anywhere with the weather that's heading our way, and I don't care who doesn't like it. Your and your son's safety should come before anything else. By all means, call in sick. Then, run out to get your emergency shopping done, and come home to stay in a nice, warm house! Good luck and stay safe during the storm. *ETA* LOL! I love the excuse you gave them. I'd leave a little early Christmas present in your evil boss's bathroom before you go home.

I gave her 24 hours notice but she refuse. I started the eviction paper. On the lease I have that she is not suppose to park the car on the grass or lawn and she is also doing that. can I get in trouble by going in to my lawn or land and do what ever it needs to be done or do I really need to wait for her call so I can go in my own property (I do know that i not suppose to enter the house).

Answer:
You give her written notice that you will be coming by periodically to take care of landscaping. As long as you only do it a couple times a month and don't run the lawn mower/leaf blower too much you won't be in violation. Be courteous and simply calmly inform her that you work when you have time. You DO NOT need her permission to enter to conduct repairs. Give written notice and then just go in As a courtesy inform her you can be there on Day A or Day B. Her choice, but those are her only options and you will use your key to enter. Don't work too loudly and cleanup after yourself. Give her written notice that the next time she is late there will be a penalty assessed and if she doesn't like it she can leave. The lease should have the amount of penalty in there somewhere. Also inform her the next time she parks anywhere but the street or driveway you will evict her. Take photos. Put a penalty for grass-parking in your next lease.
