I'm 14 going on 15 and I need a good part time job in Lakewood or Denver Colorado?
Question:
Could someone help me get a Job i really need a good part time job to start saving up for a down payment on a car

Answer:
Well, a huge percentage of the working population in this country had their first real job at McDonald's, or other fast food joints. In Lakewood, I'd take advantage of the upcoming Christmas rush and see if you can get hired as a stockboy in the mall and other big retailers there, or in a supermarket. A lot of big employers, like grocery stores or Target or Home Depot, have computer terminals set up right in the front of the store, often in a hidden corner, ready for you to type in your job application. You might not be able to start work until after Halloween, for the Christmas-rush type jobs, but it'll take a while to do the paperwork anyway. What's within walking or easy bicycling distance? (Remember, if you have to ride a bike, you'll be doing that in the rain and snow, after dark as the days get shorter.) Whatever you do, don't mortgage your future by getting Cs, though, because you want more money now. Ten years from now, and twenty, and thirty, you'll wish you'd studied harder a lot more than you'll wish you had gotten that super new car rather than a beater when you turned 16. If you can't work smarter than the billions of Chinese and Indians and Mexicans competing for moderate-skilled jobs worldwide, you'll be left behind as an adult by your friends who studied in school and can command a good income. Here's the relevant labor law in Colorado: (Note that you can't work after 7 pm on a school night until June!) FEDERAL: The minimum age for employment in most industries is 14 years of age. Youth 14 and 15 may work outside school hours in various non-manufacturing, non-mining and non-hazardous jobs. FEDERAL: 14 and 15 year olds may be employed no more than 3 hours on a school day or 18 hours in a school week. They may be employed up to 8 hours on a non-school day or 40 hours in a non-school week. They may not work during school hours and may not begin work before 7 AM or end after 7 PM except from June 1 through Labor Day when evening hours are extended to 9 PM 18 year olds may work any job for unlimited hours. STATE: On school days, during school hours, minors under the age of sixteen can’t work without a School Release Permit. After school hours, minors under the age of sixteen can’t work in excess of six hours or between the hours of 9:30 PM and 5 AM unless the next day is not a school day. No employer can work a minor (under 18) more than forty hours in a week or more than eight hours in any twenty-four hour period.

Im moving to Denver Colorado and have a 2001 Mercury Cougar. Im wanting to know the winter driving conditions?
Question:
there. Do roads get cleared off immediately, how long does it take? Is it not smart to have such a little car? Will be living in Lakewood.

Answer:
Get good snow tires. The highways and major roads are usually cleared fairly quickly, but the side streets are not. Several times a year there are blizzards that require snow tires to comfortably get around.

Moving to CO this fall: no car? Is a commute logical?
Question:
I am moving to Colorado in September for school. My school is in Lakewood, but my roommate's school is in Boulder. I am considering living somewhere like Westminster, central between Denver and Boulder. Neither of us will have cars for a little while, is this a logical plan? Are the bus systems reliable enough to commute 20 minutes or so (regular driving) everyday to Lakewood and Boulder? Any knowledgeable input is greatly appreciated!!!

Answer:
I would recommend living in downtown Denver. This is the hub for most of the transportation routes. There is a frequent service to Boulder up to midnight. The bus will leave you right at the U of Colorado. Also, Denver has great social and night life for two young people. The LoDo district has experienced an explosion of new condos, restaurants and galleries. There are also a couple of excellent bike paths, making it easy to get around the city. Westminster is really just a suburb. You'll feel trapped there without a car. Also, the U of Colorado gives students' a bus pass as part of your student fees. So, the buses in the entire Denver metro area are 'free'. See www.rtd-denver.com for routes. Me: www.peterwaynephotography.com

When more than 40,000 showed up for free produce at a US farm, did that indicate how many Americans go hungry?
Question:
An estimated 40,000 people came to a Weld County farm Saturday to collect free potatoes, carrots and leeks. Cars snaked around cornfields and parallel parked along Colorado 66 and 119 early in the morning to get free food from the Miller family, who farm 600 acres outside of Platteville, about 37 miles north of Denver. As this prolonged Indian summer continued, the Millers had decided to give away produce because so much was left over at the end of their annual fall festival. Any day now, a few deep freezes would kill it off. They expected between 5,000 and 10,000 people spread out over a couple of days. Instead, they found themselves on Saturday morning inundated with cars and people with sacks and wagons and barrels ready to harvest whatever was available. The Millers canceled the second day of the giveaway originally planned for today because, as Chris Miller put it, "the pickins' are very slim now." At one point, 30 acres of family farmland had become a parking lot. Their crowd estimate of 40,000 plus was based on the number of cars. Sheriff's officials said they "wouldn't be surprised" if that count was accurate. Traffic was backed up almost to Interstate 25, and police ticketed people who had illegally abandoned their cars in the frenzy. "Overwhelmed is putting it mildly," Miller said. "People obviously need food." Evidently, Platteville isn't the only place where this is the case. Last week in Denver, thieves broke into freezers owned by the Park Hill Grandparents Organization and stole Thanksgiving trimmings — including more than a dozen frozen turkeys — set to be donated. And in Lakewood on Saturday, people lined up in the dark at 6 a.m. to collect Thanksgiving boxes, donated by the Jeffco Action Center. By the end of the day, 5,141 people had gotten food — the biggest demand in 40 years. At the Miller Farm, it never got truly unruly. They had friends and family members help direct cars. Sheriff's deputies cruised up and down highways trying to move traffic along, after fielding complaints from neighbors. The family makes most of its money in the summer and fall, visiting 42 farmers markets a week, and hosting a fall festival where relatives charge an entry fee and then teach people about where their food comes from. Normally, any unpicked produce goes back to the land. But after hearing reports of food being stolen from some nearby churches, the Millers decided to let people take what they wanted for free. Sandra Justice, a Greeley resident who works at a technology company, brought her mother and son to pick potatoes. The price was nice, she said, but Justice also enjoyed picking her own food in these downtrodden times. "Everybody is so depressed about the economy," she said, noting she hauled off about 10 bags of vegetables. "This was a pure party. Everybody having a great time getting something for free."

Answer:
i think it indicates how many people are afraid of going without in this economy.

Specialty Frame Shop?
Question:
I hit a curb in by car, and possibly bent the subframe, crossarm...or, I really don't know.. Anyone know of a dedicated frame shop or a body shop with the right tools to fix this? I like in the littleton/lakewood/denver area...so somewhere in Colorado. Thanks

Answer:
I highly doubt you bent the sub-frame just from hitting a curb... maybe your lower control arm, but not your sub-frame. You need an alignment shop, not a frame shop. A good alignment shop will change any bent suspension parts and align your car. If by chance part of your frame is bent, which is highly unlikely, they will also know where to send it to get it fixed. You don't straighten a bent sub-frame anyway, the only fix is to change it.
