How does a Mexican working in the USA take a new car back to mexico and sell it?
Question:
How does a Mexican working in the USA take a new car back to mexico and sell it? The process for an American to take an American car into mexico is fairly cut and dry. A tourist card and temporary import permit for the vehicle avaliable at the border. Proof of citizenship, car title (or pink slip) and registration must be produced, along with the driver’s license, to a Banjército Bank at a Mexican Customs office. The fee to process the permit will be approximately $25.00 A bond must be posted of US$200 to 400.00 depending on the model of the car, to ensure foreign made vehicles will be taken out of the country at permit expiration date. American cars cost about 50% more in mexico. I'm a car salesman, help me to convince Mexicans that taking their money home is best done in a new American car or truck. What does it take to register an American car in Mexico?

Answer:
the import tax to mexico used to be 100% of the cost vehicle. there were times that they would open up the border and would let the people from mexico came to U.S. and buy cars and take them to mexico with no import tax but they were older cars only. I don't know what they are doing now. I would check before I tried it . they might take the car from you and say thanks.

Why are people towing so many cars to mexico?
Question:
Ok, when I went to South Padre Island (near the border of Mexico) there were like hundreds of Mexicans towing cars from America to Mexico... I don't understand why they do this besides money... do they do it because they sell for more over there? Can someone please explain?

Answer:
These cars are sometimes sold in Mexico, and sometimes driven to other countries in Central and South America. You are correct, the are worth more south of the border due to a lack of supply and a larger demand. There are many fewer inspection and smog requirements there, and a car that runs but will not pass in the USA is still salable south of the border

how are people making money selling us cars in mexico?
Question:
i live in texas where i see car after car on their way to mexico. how are these guys getting more for mid 90s cars in mexico than in the us?

Answer:
Mexico have "protection laws" that allows only cars over 10 years old to be sold inland. (legally). In the other hand, Mexican car are subject to outrageous taxes since new, therefore making them more expensive than buying one from US. Also, because of the condition of Mexico roads, a used car from Mexico is beaten to death while a used car from the same age coming from US is generally in better shape. So buying a 97 car and import it to Mexico makes sense for somebody making business. A 98 car will be cheaper than a 97, because the added market represented by the neighbor country. In other words, even from stupidity, a good business can be made...

Question:
my mexican friend would like to purchase a car here in arizona and bring it into mexico for her personal use, I am not sure what year is eligible or what makes of cars are eligible

Answer:
Only cars that are currently 10 years old may be nationalized in Mexico so , he needs to buy a 1998 car. They keep talking about changing this law, but it has not happened yet. There are car "brokers" at border crossings that can process paperwork for him, then he can register it locally when he gets home.
