nevada law information on how to get rid of unwanted cars left on your property in reno?
Question:
car left on property for 2years and no title to the cars what can i do about this?

Answer:
You can't donate a car unless you have the vehicle title. Most wrecking yards will accept and tow a junk car away for free, but all the reputable ones require that you have the title for it (a lot of junkyards are a bit on the shady side, though, and may be able to help you out but they might also charge you a fee for getting rid of it). You could try calling a towing company, but they usually won't do a job unless you have a contract with them or if you obtain a court order first. But if you have the key to the car, then you could just go out one night and drive/push the junker out onto the street. Eventually, it will accumulate enough parking violations (due to having expired registration/inspection stickers) that the cops will soon tow it away and will try to go after the registered owner of it.

Can my Nevada car pass smog in California?
Question:
I have a 99 Honda Civic bought and registered in Nevada, can it pass smog while I am here in California for work? Is emissions the same? I have failed once already and I am not sure why, they cannot give me a good answer. Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer:
If you are here temporary, why worry about it?. If your address is still in NV, keep it registered there.

Is it worth buying a used car in California and registering it in Nevada (Las Vegas - city of my residence)?
Question:
I would like to know if it is worth buying a car in california and using it nevada. Would i have to pay double the sales tax, and what about other nevada car expenses (prior registration)?

Answer:
Private party car sales in Nevada are not taxed at all. So if you buying a car from another person, you would not have to pay any tax at all. It does not matter if the car was from California or anywhere else, as long as you register it in Nevada. Before registering the car you must get it smogged which will cost you about $20, and you will have to pay title transfer fees. You also must have current insurance on the vehicle. If you are buying the car from a dealer, you must pay sales tax. You will not be taxed twice, but if the California dealer makes you pay sales tax, and the taxes you would've paid in Nevada are more than what you paid in California, then you must pay the difference when you register the vehicle (i.e., if California charges you $500 in sales tax, but the sales tax in Nevada would've been $600, then you must pay $100 in sales tax to Nevada). If the California dealer does NOT charge you sales tax, then you must pay the full tax rate in Nevada.

can an autioneer sell cars in nevada?

How to sell a car from Nevada in California?
Question:
I have a car that I brought from Nevada which has the registration expired in Jan 08. I would like to sell it in California since I live here now. I think it's a 49 state car because under the hood it does not mention California certified. What do I need to do in order to sell it without any problems. Just to mention it the car is a 1999 Mercury.

Answer:
If the title is in your name then you'll need to register the car in CA to sell it. CA will allow you to register you car here, even if it's from another state, as long as you came from that state and moved to CA. After it's registered, you can sell it.

How do I get a car registered in California, when I live in Nevada?
Question:
I am driving my mom's car and have been for over a year and the tags are due in October. The tags are for California - and we have the car in Nevada and are moving to Denver. How do we get the car smogged without going back to California? Can we get it smogged out of state and then just have them (my parents) send us the tags? Can they get the car in our name with a transfer of title in California or do we have to be there to do it ourselves? Like can my dad fill out the transfer or title and have my mom sign my name or something, and get the title in my name and then I can sort it out when we move to Colorado? What is the easiest solution here?

Answer:
You can not get the smog done elsewhere if you want to keep California tags on it. Caifornia rules are quite strict on smog checks and even vary based on the county you reside in CA. So people in Orange County can't even get smog checks done in Riverside County. Your best bet is to have the title transferred to your name. A transfer of title between parent to child doesn't cost much. More details can specifically be found here: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/howto/htvr1.htm Be sure your dad mentions that it is a transfer of the vehicle between family members. After you get the title transfered to your name, take the title (or have it sent to you) and register the car in Colorado where they will give you new Colorado plates.

As a California resident, can I purchase a car in Nevada?
Question:
I am a California resident with a California Driver's License. I'm thinking of purchasing a car for my sister to use. She lives in Nevada. Is the process difficult as far as taxes go, registration and insurance?

Answer:
This is called a "straw purchase" and is technically illegal. If you are financing the banks will be reluctant to finance an out of state deal. You will also pay taxes on where you live not where the car is located. It's big pain!

Question:

Answer:

what is law in state of nevada on repossision of cars.?
Question:
i bought a car from what i callaside lot//where payments aremade@ same location//i have 4 payments that includes partof down payment//i am a week late and may payment has been refused because of no grace period policy.the lot is asking for car back/

Answer:
Most contracts will include a no grace period clause, you are contractually obligated to make payments by a certain date. You have defaulted, the dealer has every right to get the car back. Sorry.
