What do I need to buy and sell cars in Minnesota?
Question:
I'm a private individual who would like to buy cars and resell them. Normally I would have to register the vehicle in my name, pay sales tax on it and then transfer it to another party who buys it. Obviously not very efficient.. what gets me out of that and how much is it?

Answer:
I'm a retailer here in Minnesota. The steps can be some what confusing but the state has done a good job of make the application process simple. Follow this link to a Minnesota DPS PDF file that explains the process and steps: http://www.dps.state.mn.us/dvs/Dealers/dealerframeset.htm Good luck. Angela does not understand not ALL car dealers are bad. Thats like saying all cops are racist or all Mexicans are illegal. You wanna talk snakes? What about banks - they make money of customers too. What about Target - they make money off thier customers. What about the grocery store - they make a profit from selling food? What about Starbucks - they make a 300% on each cup-o-joe?

Minnesota sales tax on cars?
Question:
I am moving to Minnesota. When I register my cars I hope I do not have to pay the sales tax. However, I bought one car recently. Would that be excused from sales tax also. Some states have time-limit for which the vehicle should be in another state before it is brought otherwise the taxes apply. If there is such rule in Minnesota then what is the time limit and is it counted from the date of purchase or the date of registration.

What percent of people drive cars in Minnesota?

Answer:
I'm not too knowledable when it comes to auto repair. Last week I had an accident with my Nissan Murano and I wasn't sure how to fix them. I tried to search the web for tips, but the procedures were way too difficult for my skills. I ended up going to the dealship for my repairs. The dealership tends to charge more than mom and pop repair shops, but they've seen all sorts of situations (auto insurance problems, repair warranty issues, etc) and they seem to always find a way to help me. Maybe you can try calling auto repair shops in Minnesota to see if they can help you. http://www.autorepairshopreview.com/Minnesota-Repair-Shops.html

Is now a good time to travel from Missouri to Minnesota by car?
Question:
I've never been to Minnesota and just wondering if this time of year is safe to travel via car?

Answer:
Its cold and its been snowing. Check the weather before you come so you don't get caught in a storm. The major highways are not bad so long as all the snow has been plowed off, but there might be lingering ice patches, so a little caution is advised.

Does anyone know of any Minnesota car dealers that finance bad credit?
Question:
or any other bad credit auto loans. I am improving my credit, but it is still bad, and my car is dying! Serious answers only!

Answer:
Typically, unless you buy from a 'buy-here, pay-here' lot, the dealership doesn't actually finance the car. They submit your application to lenders and try to negotiate an approval. I would suggest to maybe try your bank or credit union to see if they will finance an auto loan for you. If not, then I would go to the nicest dealership in the area and talk to one of the associates about your situation. It's best to be honest upfront rather than hiding it. Good luck.
