There are more four wheel drive vehicles made in America than anywhere else in the world and that four wheel drive is essential in Maine, considering Maine's snow and ice, which can cause problems on the road for two wheel drive vehicles.

I would avoid going to a lot. You can find plenty of great cheap cars on GovernmentAuctions.org They are a gov auctions website that has listing for seized and surplus cars for the entire USA. There are thousands of listings for the east coast alone. You could give them a shot and probably find something that you like. There are a lot of newer cars out there as well. This cuts out the car dealer - which isn't a bad thing.
