How many cars can i sell in a year without needing a dealer license in the state of Louisiana? Question: I get cars for cheap from friends or finding them and i was wondering how many can i sell in a year without haveing to buy a dealers license. Any information would be helpful! Answer: You can sell 4 in YOUR name in a 12 month period. There are benefits to obtaining a dealer license. If the cars are in someone else's name you don't need a dealer license, as it's 4 per person, not household. I just want to go to the auction and buy a few cars, how do I get in? Answer: You must own your own dealership or be affiliated with one, such as a salesman or buyer, unless it’s a city parish or state auction, which are posted in your local paper. How much does it cost for a dealer license? Answer: There is a fee of $200.00 for your dealership license, $25.00 for your salesman’s license and $25.00 for your buyer’s identification card (this is optional and will get you into salvage pool auctions only). These fees are due yearly. |

Are used car dealers or private owners selling cars that were in the Louisiana floods ? Question: How do prospective buyers protect against purchasing flood or water damaged vehicles (in any state) , if the seller does not mention it ? Answer: All of the VIN numbers of cars in the Louisiana floods (or any other floods for that matter) have been logged and reported as a flood and/or water damaged vehicle. Before buying any used vehicle - especially from a private owner - you really should get a copy of the history report (more than water damage goes unmentioned). Carfax has a special where you can get several different reports for different vehicles for one price. Hope this helps! |

How can I title a Pre 1975 car in Louisiana? Question: I am looking at a 1974 car from Alabama... The problem is they didn't issue out titles in Alabama until after 1975. I leave in Louisiana and have to have a title to drive it on the road. I was wondering if anyone knew how to register it in Louisiana??? The seller has had the car in the family all of the cars life and does have a Bill of Sale. Answer: There has to be a transferable document of some type that is state issued from Alabama. In NY cars before 1973 did not have titles, but you still received a registration slip that was transferable. By signing the back, you transfered ownership. Similar to a title but mileage and liens were not recorded on it. Titles are now used in NY and the registration slip says "Non-Transferable". He has to have something similar otherwise you will not be able to title it in your state. |

Does anyone know where or who has aution cars in Southern Louisiana ? Answer: I can't answer your question about auction. However, be cautious buying a car. Was it flooded during Katrina and the flooding in New Orleans/St. Bernard? What about Rita? Many cars were flooded then, too. Be careful!!! |

insurance and rental cars what are the victims rights in louisiana? Question: truck was totaled. they were at fault. trucks bluebook is 25k. insurance says they max at 15k. they also want to take the price of the rental car and towing out of the 15k. so they want to pay out 12k. felling pretty screwed....... Answer: If this is not your insurance, they owe the ACV of the vehicle, not the KBB, sorry. Unless LA has some strange unknown Loss of Use law no one knows about, this is a seperate from the total loss (unless you were in the rental longer than what is reasonable or racked up unreasonable fees) and they can't deduct this from your property damage. Are you sure you didn't misunderstand something? |
