The cheapest way is what is called a "locost", based on the Lotus Seven, see first link. Then there are all the kits that are more involved and more costly, the best link for this is the second link.

what a mess, sorry. Whomever is going to be driving the car is going to have to get it licensed somehow, in California. You can't take Idaho tags with you to CA for a car they haven't even seen in ID. When your daughter goes to DMV in Idaho, they are going to ask for her license from another state, and if she doesn't have it, they are going to communicate via computer on the spot with that other state so they will see that it is suspended. You could always call your local county courthouse motor vehicles dept. in Idaho to get their suggestions.

both UPS www.ups.com and Federal Express www.fedex.com offer freight calculators on their sites. Just enter the information you have and they calculate different times and costs. In my experience UPS Ground Service is a little cheaper than Fedex, but I am shipping out of NY.

That's a tough one. You might check with Enterprise to se if they do something like that. Unfortunately U-Haul doesn't offer auto rental one way outher than a small truck.

If he, and somebody in your family has time, go pick him up and drive him. That way you can stop when he needs to ease out possible pain in his back or knees, stop for toilet stops and food when he needs it, and he doesn't have to put up with the stress of Chicago airports.
