Questions Related to salinas, california cars

Provided By Y! Answers

I am currently a direc tv customer in Salinas California. I am located about 20 miles east of Monterey and Car
Question:
Why cant I receive my losal channels in HD. Is it a Direc Tv decision or are they being blocked from being offered. I already get my local channels through Direc Tv?Thanks Don

Answer:
It is because the local stations are not broadcasting in HD. High definition is a more detailed picture. In order to get that picture, more information is transmitted to your tv, to give you those details. If a station is not broadcasting those extra bits of information to the satelite, it is just not available yet. I would say, give it time, we will all have HD everything before too long... welcome to the new age... the age of technology!

Mpg's Math question problem?
Question:
I took my car from Tampa Florida to Salinas California. 3200 miles I pumped 520 dollars worth of gas. Premium I pumped 16 times. Fuel Tank Capacity: 20.6 gal I wanted to find out what is the miles per gallon. Gas prices were over 3.20 Sometimes i filled up when it had half a tank.

Answer:
If the tank was completely empty each time (which in practice it's not) then 16 * 20.6 = 329.6 gallons 3200 / 329.6 = a rousing 9.7 miles per gallon Probably you did not buy 20.6 gallons each time. If you bought an average of 18 gallons each time, that would 288 gallons and give you 3200/288 = 11.1 mpg. Or let's look at it from the money angle: 520 dollars at a price of about $2.80 / gallon (prices vary in different parts of the country) Then it's only 185 gallons and 3200/185 = 17.3 mpg If you paid $3 / gallon, then 173 gallons and 3200 / 173 = 18.5 mpg. If you have more exact figures on how many gallons you bought, you can get a better idea of your mpg.

A Possible Future Road Trip (2012 or 2013) - California to Idaho and then coming back home to California...?
Question:
I was maybe thinking about taking a road trip from my current place (Lompoc, CA) going all the way up to my previous town (Moscow, Idaho) where I lived at for a temporary time which was so beautiful. I also made wonderful friends and my all time favorite school was there as well. Here are my stops that I will probably be traveling at on the way up to Idaho from California and then coming back home a little later. It also includes time of travel and mileage per shift. Here are the shifts!!! ------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- DEPARTURE Day 1 Lompoc-Salinas (3 Hrs 6 Min - 185.48 Miles) Salinas-Sacramento (2 Hrs 57 Min - 177.79 Miles) Sacramento-Reno (2 Hrs 15 Min - 134.89 Miles) Reno-Winnemucca (2 Hrs 22 Min - 166.23 Miles) Day 2 Winnemucca-Boise (4 Hrs 34 Min - 256.64 Miles) Boise-McCall (2 Hrs 24 Min - 107.32 Miles) McCall-Grangeville (1 Hr 43 Min - 91.53 Miles) Grangeville-Moscow (1 Hr 44 Min - 100.50 Miles) RETURN Day 1 Moscow-Pendleton (3 Hrs 19 Min - 163.31 Miles) Pendleton-Portland (3 Hrs 28 Min - 210.51 Miles) Portland-Eugene (1 Hr 57 Min - 110.76 Miles) Eugene-Medford (2 Hrs 49 Min - 166.85 Miles) Day 2 Medford-Red Bluff (2 Hrs 56 Min - 178.07 Miles) Red Bluff-San Francisco (3 Hrs - 185.59 Miles) San Francisco-King City (2 Hrs 41 Min - 153.00 Miles) King City-Lompoc (2 Hrs 20 Min - 138.55 Miles) ------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- Now, here is the car we might take. It's a green 2002 Honda Accord EX Sedan, which it can travel up to 478.8 miles maximum on highway, 342 miles in the city, and about 410.4 miles at a maximum combined with a full tank of gas at 17.1 Gallons. It can also get up to 24 miles per gallon maximum in a combination. The highway can get up to 28 mpg and the city can get up to 20 mpg as well. How much gas should I use before I refill the tank again going on a trip like this and how often should I make stops besides my projected plan that I've created? Well, that's all I'm wondering about for now. Take Care!!!

Answer:
You're probably overplanning. Actual gas mileage depends on so many factors that the best indicator is when you run low on gas, fill up. As for stops: that really depends on you. Personally, I like to stop every few hours and do something (which is why my road trips take twice as long as they would otherwise...) Oregon's got some very neat stuff (I'd take the 101 in at least one direction, as this takes you through some very breathtaking scenery in both northern California and Oregon).

Flights from Arizona to California?
Question:
What is the best airport to fly into from Phoenix Sky Harbor airport to the Carmel/Salinas/Monterey area? I don't want to fly into LAX because it is too long of a drive from the airport to the area I am staying at and I am not old enough to rent a car; I would have to pay for a really long cab ride. Thanks!

Answer:
Maybe Burbank? Depending on where you are staying, there is also the Van Nuys Flyaway.

What do you think Deported Criminal Illegal Immigrant Murders Baby?
Question:
In the latest example of the government’s failure to protect the nation from criminal illegal aliens, a man responsible for the atrocious murder of a California infant has turned out to be a drug-addicted illegal immigrant deported after a felony conviction. Somehow the violent criminal, Juan Sanchez, sneaked back into the U.S. and lived under the radar in the southern California community of Rancho Cucamonga about 50 miles from Los Angeles. He recently beat his girlfriend’s 8-month-old son to death after the infant’s nose was “mistakenly” wiped with the methamphetamine-laced cotton swab Sanchez used to clean his pipe. Fearful that he would be sent to prison, Sanchez forbade his girlfriend from seeking medical care when the baby became sick from the drug exposure. For three days the barbaric convict tried to get the infant “off the high” by shaking him, slapping him and tying him to a bed. When the baby was finally hospitalized, he had a skull fracture, bleeding in the brain, detached retinas and a broken arm. The mother and Sanchez have been charged with the infant’s horrific murder. A sad component to this depressing story is that Sanchez should not have even been in the U.S. because in 2001 he was convicted of robbery and deported. He crossed the border illegally and authorities had no idea of his whereabouts until he committed this heinous crime. Just last month a previously deported Mexican man with a criminal record killed an entire family when he crashed his car into theirs on a Houston freeway. The illegal alien (Juan Felix Salinas) had been deported two years ago and was free on bond in a criminal case yet was allowed to remain in the country. He had a blood alcohol level three times the Texas legal limit when he murdered the family. http://www.corruptionchronicles.com/2007/09/deported_cri minal_illegal_immi.html

Answer:
And they only come to get a better life...oh yeah, right. We need to fully secure the border. Deport the illegal aliens, but first add them to a DNA-data base as well as the fingerprint data-base. Then, if any try to come back in legally, deny them. So much for their values. These incidents are not isolated but occur on a daily basis. Less than 3.5 % of Americans are incarcerated for felonies. Illegal aliens are incarcerated at much higher percentages. It is a total travesty than any illegal alien could return after deportation to commit further crimes and one of the worst ways the government is failing to serve the people.

What are some good quality/affordable Hotels?
Question:
I will be relocating from Southern California to Salinas or Soledad California because i was offered a job at a prison out there and need housing. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on a room and want to stay between the range of $40-$50/ night I am willing to pay $55-about $58 per night. I know i probably won't get much quality for these prices but I'm not expecting a luxury suite. I just want something with quality, affordability and amenities like room service, TV with cable in the room and breakfast in the morning before work. Also I dont want a motel because the front doors of each room faces the outside parking lot etc. I want to have my front door face the inside of the building. I wonder if I qualify for discounts? I have Triple A and I am seeing Triple A discounts on some hotel advertisements. Also I need a rental car and I have my own car insurance through Triple A so I know I will save because I have my own car insurance. Yahoo Answers what do you think? Thanks in advance!

I Need Help on my English Homwork!!!?
Question:
1. The five elements of the rhetorical situation include: content, idea, opponent, argument and inspiration. A. true B. false 2. Read the excerpt from César Chávez's Commonwealth Club Address, and use this excerpt from the text to answer the question. Excerpt Thank you very much, Mr. Lee, Mrs. Black, ladies and gentlemen. Twenty-one years ago, this last September, on a lonely stretch of railroad track paralleling U.S. Highway 101 near Salinas, 32 Bracero farm workers lost their lives in a tragic accident. The Braceros had been imported from Mexico to work on California farms. They died when their bus, which was converted from a flatbed truck, drove in front of a freight train. Conversion of the bus had not been approved by any government agency. The driver had tunnel vision. Most of the bodies laid unidentified for days. No one, including the grower who employed the workers, even knew their names. Today, thousands of farm workers live under savage conditions, beneath trees and amid garbage and human excrement near tomato fields in San Diego County; tomato fields, which use the most modern farm technology. Vicious rats gnaw at them as they sleep. They walk miles to buy food at inflated prices and they carry in water from irrigation ditches. In the excerpt above from his Commonwealth Club Address, Chávez uses the rhetorical strategy known as ethos. A. true B. false 3. Read the excerpt from César Chávez's Commonwealth Club Address, and use this excerpt from the text to answer the questions. Excerpt: Health authorities in many San Joaquin Valley towns already warn young children and pregnant mothers not to drink the water, because of nitrates from fertilizers which has poisoned the ground water. The growers have only themselves to blame for an increasing demand by consumers for higher-quality food, food that isn't tainted by toxics, food that doesn't result from plant mutations or chemicals that produce red luscious-looking tomatoes that taste like alfalfa. The growers are making the same mistake American automakers made in the '60s and '70s when they refused to produce small economical cars and opened up the door to increased foreign competition. Which rhetorical strategy does César Chávez use in this excerpt of his speech? A. pathos B. ethos C. logos 4. Refer to the excerpt from César Chávez's Commonwealth Club Address, and use this excerpt from the text to answer the questions. Excerpt: South of the Sacramento River, Hispanics now make up now more than 25 percent of the population. That figure will top 30 percent by the year 2000. There are now 1.1 million Spanish-surnamed registered voters in California. In 1975, there were 200 Hispanic elected officials at all levels of government. In 1984, there are over 400 elected judges, city council members, mayors, and legislators. -from César Chávez's Commonwealth Club Address, delivered on November 9, 1984 What rhetorical technique does Chávez consistently use throughout this excerpt to convey the paragraph's main idea, or overarching message? A. He uses percentages B. He uses politics and voter information C. He uses numbers and facts 5. Read the excerpt from César Chávez's Commonwealth Club Address, and use this excerpt from the text to answer the questions. Excerpt: “These trends are part of the forces of history which cannot be stopped. No person and no organization can resist them for very long; they are inevitable. Once social change begins it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore.” - César Chávez, in his Commonwealth Club Address, delivered on November 9, 1984 Which rhetorical device does César Chávez use in this excerpt of his speech? A. hyperbole B. metaphor C. repetition

How do i find other people who do not have a vehicle and need to carpool to work?
Question:
I am an Lvn nurse with a job offer at a prison (Salinas Valley State Prison) in soledad, California-Monterey County this job will be through an agency and the agency does not offer relocation assistance for "New Grad" nurses like myself so I will have to come out of my own pocket for a room for rent or motel and because I do not have a vehicle I was considering catching the. Bus to work everyday or carpooling to work because the city of Soledad is sooooo rural I was told by a resident finding a bus line will be close to impossible. Does anyone know of a rideshare or carpool program that could possibly link me up to others in my situation? I am thinking of getting either a room for rent or a motel room as close to the prison as possible. I just do not want to reject this job offer simply because I do not have a car. By the way... I currently live in Southern California. Thanks guys n gals!!!

Answer:
The easiest thing to do will be to talk to your co-workers and find out where they live and if anyone is coming to the prison from your area. You can also look for bus lines, which will be difficult but not impossible if you choose an apartment carefully.

How to get around in/near Monterey, CA without a rental car?
Question:
I'm going to be traveling to Monterey, California in December. I'm flying into San Francisco International, and I know that I can get the Monterey Airbus from SFO to Monterey. I have a few questions about how to get around after that, though. I've never been there before so I'm not really familiar with the area at all. 1. How can I get from the Monterey Airbus station to my hotel? The Airbus station is at 438 Calle Principal, Monterey and my hotel is at 2362 North Fremont Street, Monterey. Is there public transportation I could take, is it walkable, or should I just get a cab? 2. Instead of flying back to PA, I'm taking a Greyhound bus. Since there's no Greyhound station in Monterey, I had to get a bus ticket out of Salinas. What's the easiest way to get from my hotel to the Greyhound bus station in Salinas? It's located at 19 West Gabilan, Salinas. Again.. is there public transportation (and if so what do I take to get there?), or would I need to take a cab, etc? If you would recommend taking cabs, can you give an estimate of how much it would cost? I can't seem to find any websites that list fares for Monterey or the surrounding areas. Thanks.
