Question:
Hi there, i want to rent a convertible car in Burbank california and the rental will be on my name, i was wondering if my girlfriend can also drivie it? she has her own insurance, but her name is not on the contract. what do you guys think?

Answer:
I find that some places, like Blue Oval Car Rental in Costa Mesa will allow a second driver over 21 if the primary driver is over 25. But it must be declared on the contract and an extra fee paid.

CHEAPEST transportation from Portland, Oregon to Burbank, California?
Question:
(I'll be leaving for college to be be a freshman) From Portland, Oregon to Burbank, California? BY ------ Airplane Train (AmTrak) boat car (van or truck) One adult, nothing fancy... know which one's cheapest??? Round trip

Answer:
probably amtrak, like around $210 round trip. i rode amtrak in may from portland to minnesota, it's not bad, it will probably take you about 29 hours by the train. they have a lounge car where everyone goes and bullshits and stuff, they serve drinks and food and stuff, EDIT- okay i just went to amtrak.com after september 5th the rates go down dramatically, it would be $176 round trip to van nuys, california, which is very near burbank. I would highly recommend taking amtrak over greyhound, creepy people ride greyhound. plus on amtrak you get to walk around and stuff. make sure to bring like a duffel bag full of food with you cause the food is expensive. it was like $1.75 for a can of pop, and $7 for a cheesburger, the seats are really large.

Considering a move to Burbank, California...?
Question:
Hello guys(: I want to begin by saying THANK YOU for taking the time to read and respond to my question, however, although I'm open to any advice, I'm going to ask you to please keep negative comments to yourself. I've seen nothing but the "stay where you're at" "too expensive, dream on" mumbo jumbo and quiet frankly, it's not going to stop me from working towards this goal of mine. It'd be really helpful if you can bite your tongue to avoid those sort of comments and help me make the best decisions as possible. Thank you... Burbank, California. I've done a lot of research on different California cities and towns, but I was very pleased with the reviews for Burbank. As for the state being California, like many, I'm a teenage dreamer and I'd like to make a career out of being a choreographer... Please don't jump the gun and just assume "Oh here's another one!" I fully understand that education comes first, and I also am aware that the television and movie California is much different than the real thing, however it really has a lot to offer for my area of interest. My mind is set. I am currently a 17 year old female taking classes to receive a GED... I know that right there a lot of you have lost hope for me, I'm a very hardworking student, however I had a really rough time with attendance and keeping up through high school because of health problems that were out of my control. I just call this 'going a different route'. Going to college has always been apart of my plans, I will begin with an AA or an AS at a community college then make my move to a 4 year college. I am guilty to say that I haven't done a whole lot of research on the community colleges in the Burbank area and I am soon to get on that, but for the time being, what cc's do you suggest I look in to? My major hasn't been chosen yet... I've been considering a lot, I'm very careful and I'd like to be sure as to what I'd like to do and what would benefit me the most. I live in Orlando, Florida right now, working two jobs and my father and I are in the process of opening a savings account for me. Also I am very lucky to have a very giving grandfather who plans to help me... I'm thankful for him, however I don't plan on depending on his support, I'd like to make moves on my own. By fall of next year, I will be 18 years old. I will hopefully enough money saved up to make my move and begin my 2 year at whatever community college I end up choosing. I want to go an affordable and safe route. I will have a car with me... I don't mind roomates if it's most reasonable, and I'll need to get a job. Do I have what it takes to make such a huge move? As for money, how much should I have saved up by fall? Has anyone had similar experiences? I would really love tips and advice Thank you so much for reading and helping...

Answer:
It sounds like you have what it takes and them some! The only advice I can give you is to keep on following your plan. Don't give up if it takes a bit longer than you expect to be able to make your move. Keep on saving money and keep your eyes on your goal. I can't tell you how much money to save up, really that depends on you. Just be sure to have a nest egg big enough to sustain you for about 3 or 4 months until you find a job. Be sure to have a marketable skill. Something that's in demand such as some sort of work in the health care field. You can do research on which skills are most in demand at this time. You will really have a difficult time if you're an unskilled worker, a waitress is considered an unskilled worker. Learn to use computers, if possible learn to use programs like WORD and EXCEL, learn to use calculators and cash registers. Take up learning to speak Spanish. Employers like to advertise "Se hable espanol" and being able to speak it can be a major plus in a market like L.A. About your major, I'd suggest computers or something in the health care field. As I said before, don't get discouraged. A lot of people will try to discourage you, don't let them succeed. They don't know you, don't know a thing about your life, they don't know how much perseverence you have. Just pay no attention to them. The most important thing, stay with your plan, don't get disouraged and follow your dream. Good luck to you!

How do I get from the Anaheim Plaza Hotel to the WB Studios in Burbank?
Question:
I'd just like to point out that I'm from Australia and all the transit companies in one state are more or less linked to one another. The ones in California do not appear to be :P Can someone please tell a nice simple way (that doesn't include hiring a car or being chauffered about) to get from the Anaheim Plaza Hotel in Anaheim to the Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank (and return if you're feeling adventurous :P). Thanks in advance!

Answer:
You can take the Metrolink train (or Amtrak train) from Anaheim station to Union Station in Los Angeles. Depending on your schedule, take Metrolink when possible. (40 minutes) Once you're at Union Station in Los Angeles, you can take Metro subway Red Line (North Hollywood Line) then Metro Bus 163. (Confirm with the Metro Bus ticket counter person at Union Station.) (between 30-60 minutes) Ask your hotel about how you can get to the Anaheim train station, located next to the Angels Stadium (maybe bus /walk). Buy 1-way ticket at the Anaheim station before boarding the train. Metrolink tickets are cheaper than Amtrak tickets. Metrolink ticket also allows you to take the Metro Rail Red Line for free, but confirm this at Union Station. (Metrolink is a rush-hour train, its last train back to Anaheim is 6:30PM. So, I recommend buying a 1-way ticket in the morning.) The return trip Metro Bus line is the same 163, if before 4:50PM. Check website below for Bus schedule after 5PM. Let me know if you have questions. --------Copied from website schedule--------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- Ride Metro Rail Red Line (NORTH HOLLYWOOD Line) From: UNION STATION RED LINE SUBWAY TERM To: HOLLYWOOD HIGHLAND Station Ride Metro Bus 163 heading east From: HOLLYWOOD BL/HIGHLAND AV(SE corner) To: OLIVE/MAPLE(SE corner) Walk Northeast on Olive Ave., right on Riverside Drive, right on Avon St, Left on Warner Blvd.

Questions about the MetroLink in Southern California?
Question:
I was just wondering if the Metrolink was safe for a girl to ride by herself? I only moved to SoCal a little while ago, and I need to get to Burbank. I have a car....but gas is expensive and I'm in the mood for an adventure. Should I bring my husband with me for protection, or is it safe to ride alone? I'll be travelling around 10am on Monday.

Answer:
yes its safe you could find the conductor cars (which is either the first car or last car on the train) and your ride is pretty short 18 minutes (from Los Angeles) why would you think metrolink isn't safe in the first place? Metrolink has several trips to Burbank (note if you destination is closer to Burbank airport and have a metrolink ticket you *could* take Amtrak as well as metrolink for this routing (yes Amtrak honors metrolink tickets between Los Angeles and Burbank airport

Good body shop for to get work done on my Acura?
Question:
I have a 1997 Acura and it's got a lot of dings and scrapes. I'm looking for a good body shop in the vicinity of either Santa Monica or Burbank California. It doesn't need major work. Just taking out the dents and also likely repaint the whole car

Answer:
Call the auto damage section of your automobile claims company. Tell them that you do not want to make a claim but ask them for the names of their preferred shops. Many insurers have a number of shop that they have special arrangements with. Part of this program is that the shop must do excellent work and warranty their work for the life of the car. When you take the car to the shop, tell them that GEICO (or whoever) referred you to them.

How do you get around LA CA?
Question:
I am going on vacation to LA california this summer by plane, my hotel is in Burbank. I will not have a car, and don't really want to spend the extra cash in renting one. So how do you get around in LA? taxis? I heard they have subways and buses but also that they are not the safest way to commute. is that true? or do you think it would be worth it to just rent a car? thanks for the help!

Answer:
You want to waist your vacation time taking taxis or buses? LA is not like New York that you can just hail a cab on the street. You have to call them then wait for them to come. Then the 30 mile cab ride will cost you 50 bucks. One taxi ride will cover the cost of renting a car.
