2007 Toyota Corolla Question?
Question:
I just got a 2007 Toyota Corolla from "Dirito Nissan" on Feb 20 around 6pm. I got a loan through my Credit Company for 15,500 but $2000 had to come out of my pocket for down payment. They wouldnt give me the full amount cause they said it was payin more then 10% of what the car is worth. I was reading a few of the other questions on the other Corolla's and everyone is says that the invoice price is around $15,400 or so and a 3 day return policy. I payed $15,999.95 plus taxes. Did i get ripped off and if i did, Can i take it back and have them fix the price on it? They wantted me to pay $600 when i signed the contract to have a 2 days to return it. Can they do that? I did a trade in on my other car which was a 2001 Saturn SL2 for $4900. Can i get it back if i return the 2007 Toyota? Can someone please help me on this? I live in Antioch California See, I didnt buy it at toyota. I got it at Nissan. So i know they didnt pay full price for it. They told me they couldnt lower the price because they are buying my car which was a 2001 Saturn SL2 for $4900. I checked the invoice prices online and they were about the same price.

Answer:
Not really... usually dealer doesnt sell a car base on the invoice price. The negotiation is based on MSRP instead for New vehicle. For compact cars, lotta people pays couple hundred below the MSRP to walk out of the door... if it has a invoce at 15.4k, i assume its MSRP would be around 17.5K, which is what you paid to walk out of the door... Its a very normal deal, even tho you could've find better, but urs isnt bad.

Will Contra Costa County actually come to Reno, NV for extradition on a small thing?
Question:
My husband was a bad boy years before I met him and made a life together. He grew up in Antioch, California (need I say more) and let trouble get the best of him. He was a car thief and spent 2 years in San Quentin for it. When he was finally released he was put on probation for 3 years. He continued to be a bad boy and was picked up for car theft one last time. This violated his probation and he spent a year in county jail. Upon release he was told to enter a drug rehab for 6 months. He didn't think he needed the rehab, he knew he could not stay in California any longer because he would keep doing the same things and get in trouble. He left California and came to Reno, NV where all of his family lives. He has been clean ever since and has not gotten into any trouble in the passed 3 years. Obviously he violated his probation when he left the state of California. He got a job here in Reno, NV and Contra Costa started garnishing his wages, so they knew where he was if they wanted to come and get him. A warrant was issued for him back in 2006 (when he absconded) which was before the garnishments, and he was picked up last week for it in Reno, NV. The warrant was for a felony fugitive of justice no bail warrant probation violation. I talked with one of the booking officers and he mentioned to me that Contra Costa county never picks up their people. My husband went to court today and the judge moved his court date to this Monday because something about the paperwork wasn't all there. My husband was confused about what this meant so I called booking again and talked to another booking officer and she told me that this is normal, sometimes with extraditions they want to make sure they (contra costa county) is really going to pick up their people. With all of this I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the odds are of Contra Costa County coming to Reno, NV to pick up my husband for extradition on such a small thing. He wasn't booked on any additional charges, the only reason we got pulled over was because we were speeding. Anyone who has knowledge or can give me some advice on this I would appreciate it. **** Update **** On Wednesday the judge told him he would be back on Monday 7/27. We are assuming to sign the extradition paperwork, or to even see if California is going to extradite him. If California does not acknowledge or send any paperwork confirming they will pick him up will they O.R. him? Or will they just have him sign some papers anyways and wait the 10 days for California to come get him? We were told that Reno will just keep him because they are not paying for him to be there so they dont care. Also... I called his probation officer and at first he was a jerk but after explaining that he has been clean and what not he became much nicer. He told me to call the Public Defender and talk to him. I did and this guy was no help he was very rude. P.O. also told me to try the D.A. I did and was told the guy who does the extraditions is on vacation until 8/5. The receptionist says someone is handing his work while he is gone but when I talked to her she didnt know anything.

Answer:
I worked in LE for a short time. If this came across my desk on a slow week - I'd be visiting Reno on the County's expense account. (But I'm traveling from East coast- so this is a nice 2-3 day round trip with some down time in Reno.) It comes down to timing and priority. If I was asked to pick someone up who was 4 hours away, I would know right away that the trip was all business. If the person being picked up was a real bad guy, I would do it - because I had to do the job. Politics & money go behind the priority - if the felon was nasty.. then the department would spend more money to bring him back. The politics are when we bring him back, the newspaper shows how we "tracked down dangerous felon - and brought him to justice" - or something similarly silly. If the fugitive wasn't a real bad guy, maybe I'd call the probation /parole officer on the case and ask him if he'd reconsider this case, especially since I really didn't want to spend all day driving. Since it wouldn't mean any news coverage, my boss wouldn't care - and would rather save the expenses, too. If this was a 2-day trip to someplace nice.. or even someplace I'd never visited before, then I'd be less likely to try and help - or to avoid it. I'd just book plane tickets and a hotel for me and another cop. As far as the paperwork hold up, yes this happens. If the other jurisdiction hasn't officially said " we do / don't want to extradite", there is some wiggle room and a judge will usually give another couple of days to wait for a decision. I suggest that if you can afford a lawyer, or have a lawyer-friend , ask them to speak to the probation officer in charge of the case. If no lawyer, then you could try to call on his behalf. Be nice - this guy is an overworked civil servant. (*If it isn't illegal, I'd also tape the conversation. Check your state and California's laws first! ) Bottom line, if you can show that your husband has been clean, working, and out of trouble since his release, then the crossing border matter might be 'just a misunderstanding'. The argument about changing his environment to prevent using drugs again is not specifically "legal" - but it makes sense, and some judges / probation officers might be inclined to give you a break. You need to work with them - they have to "do something". Ask them for a suggestion on how to work this out, or offer them something small. The probation officer has 200 or more other cases that need his attention. Maybe you can work out an arrangement - from today and for the next 6 months.. husband can call in, and possibly send copies of his paychecks to show he is working regularly. Maybe get a local doctor (or local probation) to take monthly urine samples. Whatever it takes to get working toward closing this out. Even if that works out, you need to make sure the warrant gets withdrawn or he could get picked up again tomorrow. also, I don't want to know - but try to work out an end to the wage garnishing if that is possible. The faster you settle all matters with them, the more inclined they will be to close the file and forget about you. good luck . I hope this works out so you can put this all behind you (both).

most ghetto county in california?
Question:
I recently moved to contra costa county and this is the most ghetto county iv ever been to. I llive in Richmond and I have a friend in Antioch which is like on the other side of the county, those are the only places Iv really spent much time but everywhere I see looks like the hood. In antioch I saw 4 kids walking down the street and one kid was pushing a vacuum cleaner and then i was driving down the street I made a right turn and this little ass kid on a bike was yellin out gang shit and hitting my car as I drove by. The whole county just seems like the hood.

Answer:
Actually you live in the most "ghetto" area of Contra Costa. The majority of CC residents are in the wealthier areas like Concord, Walnut Creek, etc. The Richmond/Hercules/Martinez area along the bay is nothing but tax revenue, so they can spend the money in the inland wealthy areas. Anyway, to answer your question directly, California's poorest county is Imperial, in the desert east of San Diego and right next to Mexico. But the most "ghetto" areas, other than where you live, are the Bayview/Hunter's Point area of San Francisco, a lot of nameless migrant worker camps scattered across the agricultural areas, and a big area between downtown Los Angeles and the harbor.

I'm taking a road trip from Portland to the Bay area this Summer by myself, is it safe?
Question:
This August I will be taking a self road trip from Portland Oregon to the Bay Area California. This is the first time ever driving such a long distance and really the first time ever going to California. I will be traveling by myself during this trip and I don't plan on making any stops, except for gas and of coarse rest stops but I don't plan on checking into motels or visiting any special locations. This is just a direct drive from Portland to the Bay area. According to google maps this drive will take about 10 to 12 hours total. I guess you really wouldn't call it a road trip if I won't be making any stops along the way or visiting any locations. I have a destination to go to and it's all I'll be focused on. The hard part is I'm nervous because this will be a new experience for me so I just want to ask all of you out there that have made that trip or driven long distances before exactly whether it's worth it or not, how long the drive really takes, whether it's safe to go by myself or not? Should I just forget driving and take a plane? How hard is it to rent a car? I'm a 19 year old male and this is a really tough decision for me since I would rather just take a plane but if I take a plane from Portland to San Francisco I would still need to travel east of San Francisco to the Pittsburg/Antioch area which is where the care rental issue comes in. Anyone have a simple solution for all of this? I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Answer:
Sure, it's safe to drive from Portland, OR to San Francisco... providing that you are a safe driver, that is. I think most car rental here require you to be 21. :o( If I were you, though, I'd stretch the drive to two days each way and sight see a bit along the way. There are some gorgeous places worth visiting (like Crater Lake, Lassen Volcanic Park, Mt. Shasta, Pt. Reyes, etc), and you wouldn't be so tired by the time you roll into Frisco as you would be driving it straight. The road is good all the way, as far as I know.... Just don't get stuck behind a semi or logging truck going uphill (and avoid having one behind you when you're going downhill). You didn't tell us the route, I'll assume I-5/99 all the way to Sacramento before cutting west and getting into Frisco via the Oakland Bay Bridge. The drive would probably feel shorter coming south, since you'd be going downhill more than you would up. I drove around alone from Bend, OR all the way down to San Diego, CA and clear to Venice, FL back in the early 90's when I was your age. You get used to the road after a while... it's a good idea to stop every few hours to stretch your legs. It's when you are so used to the driving after 3 or 4 straight hours behind the wheel that you start to not pay as much attention as you should (and that's when you can become a rather dangerous driver with slow reflect). August in the bay area is pretty cool and can be a bit hazy/foggy. Hope you'll enjoy it. Good luck!
