cheap car rental surprise arizona?
Question:
i'm in arizona, and i want to rent a car. i found a website before i came here that offered a car rental for a week with no mile restrictions for 200 dollars. but i lost that website. and now i am in need of S.O.S. help!

Answer:
ENTERPRISE IS THE CHEAPEST. They will come pick you up. Make sure to do reservation online as there are better rates than you can get at the office.Weekly rentals on a compact you might get for about 150 a week with UNLIMITED MILES in Ca, Az & NV Also if you join their frequent renter club you will get a free upgrade. They are also one of the few rental companies that will rent to drivers under 20. Nor do they charge a premium for them. They recently changed policy so you now must have a credit card to rent a vehicle with at least $200 avail for the deposit. They wont charge it but they will place a hold against it till you return the vehicle

What can I do about this "surprise" garnishment of wages in Arizona?
Question:
I recently lived in a rathole apartment and moved out to someplace marginally cheaper because (surprise) I couldn't afford the rent. They tacked the eviction notice papers on my door, which said I had to appear in court. I assumed that summons was for the eviction and just making the claim that I owe them money because of my broken lease (more or less a statement of, "This is the value of your lease"). I know nothing about laws. I am literally just some 22-year-old kid with no savings, no liquidatable assets (outside of a car that's a month overdue on a note worth 4 times its resell value), more bare living cost bills than I can afford, and no family or knowledgeable access to help and I am not even a native to Arizona so I have no idea how stuff works here. ANYWAY. That was approximately 2-3 months ago, during the middle of March. I got a call today from some firm or company (they weren't a law office, likely a collection agency of some sort) saying that the old apartments -had- received a legal judgment against me and the court was now reviewing my seize-able assets and preparing to garnish 25% of my wages. They would not accept an alternate agreement except a 400+ dollar down payment, which obviously isn't going to happen because if it could, I would have already given them their money and gone happily on my way. ((The judgment was for about 4600-5000 dollars, roundabouts.)) Outside of the eviction notice, I have never even been served or contacted what-so-ever. I expected them to eventually approach me for debt collection, but I haven't heard ANYTHING. No mail, no phone calls, no visits from severs or nicely dressed policemen. I was under the impression that they needed to serve me court papers before they could sue for wage garnishment (and like I said, they hadn't even contacted me for payment prior). Is this true? Can they just up and take my wages without even sending me a notice?

Answer:
if you have an actual judgment issued against you,to wit you can check with the local court house where the judgment was issued; then you will have to go to court where the judgment was issued and appeal the judgment based upon improper service to stop the garnishment

What Agency Should I Call, Due To The Surprise, AZ Police Department's Insufficiencies?
Question:
I sent the following message, so far, to the Governor of Arizona, the call for action team at Fox 10 News, and I don't know who else would be able to help me. Dear Sir/Madam, I called the police due to my neighbours dumping some kind of white powder over the wall dividing our properties. An officer responded, but was afraid of my other neighbours Shih Tzu puppy. He was also afraid of my 15 pound Cocker Spaniel, who was on a leash. He didn't seem much interested in solving the crime. He left the house and gave us some bogus numbers to call. I then called Maricopa County Sheriffs Dept., but they said since I was already dealing with the Surprise Police Dept, they could not help me. I called back to the Surprise Police Dept, a couple more times. I was informed that they don't take samples or have any way of testing powder. Really? I bet if I had some white powder in my car during a traffic stop they would have some way of testing white powder. Now, it may be a simple child's prank, or it may be that my neighbours, who have broken into my house before, and there is a police report on that, put something more lethal over my wall. But, the Surprise Police Department either does not care, or is uncapable of any real crime solving or prevention. In either case, this is not the last of this, I promise. I am going to be in contact with other agencies, to see who exactly oversees your department, and to try to find out what this white powder was that was put over our wall. I am going to be contacting other state agencies, television call for action, and federal agencies as well. Yes, I have dealt with your department before, and yes, I understand that corruption is a problem within your department, but, still, this is a crime. Either your department is going to do the right thing,....or not. Thank you,

Answer:
You've already gotten two pretty good replies and now I will suggest several things. One: If your local little suburb police department is unresponsive to drug usage or drug dealing going on within your neighborhood it will probably be for one of two reasons. The first being the local cops are 'on-the-take' (getting some share of the money by looking the other way) or are afraid of getting popped themselves for popping some local dealer or grower. If this is the case them you'll have to go beyond them to get help. I suggest first you try the nearest Federal Marshall's office. A Federal Marshall's jurisdiction supersedes any and all local (including state) law enforcement agencies. And, trust me, these guys aren't on-the-take and certainly aren't afraid of some local dealer or grower. And going to the Attorney General (as someone has already suggested) won't help you really because an AG or local Da will assign the job (assuming they believe there is probable cause) of investigating to the next available Deputy US Marshal. The Second Choice would be to contact your nearest DEA office (nice thing about the DEA is they are also Feds and their jurisdiction supersedes any and all local agencies). Still, in going to the DEA you'll need to give them cause why you're going above the head of your local police department. If you state your reasons as you've given us, or your concern that the locals are too afraid or corrupt to help out, someone from the DEA will be assigned to investigate your complaint. Another nice thing about the DEA is you can put pressure on your local police anomalously. They get investigated without you receiving flack back from the local county mounties. Note: If your own local police department isn't responsive (because of the above mentioned probable causes) it's also possible that your local little suburb city hall will be as equally unresponsive and perhaps corrupt. I would give your local city hall one chance. If they fudge or seem overly protective of their own police department, then you go to the big boys. And what you don't want to do is antagonize or make the locals oversuspicious. Don't convey to them any ulterior suspicions about their lack of professional response or possible drug tie-ins. And don't threaten them with a lawsuit or any of that stuff. Just turn the whole thing over to the Feds and let the pros do their job.

Can a class action lawsuit be waged against an agency of the US government?
Question:
My friends and I all went to a lake here in Arizona that we have been going to for the last fifteen years or so. When we arrived we all went to pay the $6 parking fee like we always do except the machine that takes the money and issues the voucher stub had been removed. No sign, no one to ask, just gone. So I look around, no one has a voucher on their vehicles either, so I'm left to assume they don't want my money, right? Imagine my surprise when I find a $56 ticket on my car and everyone else's (more for the vehicles pulling trailers). We all felt like we were set up. When I asked the Forest Service people about it, they were really snotty and pointed to an obscure sign at a Different ramp saying that passes were now only available in town 20+ miles away! Their attitude was pay it or waste your time in court and then pay it. Meanwhile this organization is running a scam that must be cleaning up. Anything we can do?

Answer:
Class actions against the government are possible under the rules, but not for this type of suit If you want to fight it, go take pictures of everything and take them to court with you.

Question:
Surprise Arizona motorcycle cop gave me a ticket for following to close today. Me and the person in front of me were at a light and then we both started going down the road and passed this cop who was giving a pickup a ticket. Then he gets on his bike and pulls me over. Answer:

What is your reaction to Undocumented couple leave SB 1070 behind?
Question:
A white Ford pickup with Arizona plates is driving north on U.S. 191 headed for the Utah border. Afraid of encountering police, the family inside is traveling at night. The pickup's headlights cut through a sea of darkness. The family is in a hurry to get out of Arizona, to get away from the state's harsh new immigration law. The pickup crosses into Utah at 11:59 p.m. Luis Sanchez breathes a sigh of relief as his wife, Marlen Ramirez, keeps driving. Both are undocumented immigrants from Mexico. "Look," he says. "We are here. We have arrived in Utah." They have made it safely out of Arizona, past the Maricopa County sheriff's deputy they saw as they were leaving Surprise and past the highway patrol cars they saw along Interstate 17 between Phoenix and Flagstaff. They still have a long way to their final destination: Pennsylvania. There will be engine troubles along the way. And more police. And frayed nerves. But the hardest part of the nearly 2,700-mile journey will be the end. Their final destination is where starting their lives over begins. Feeling like prisoners Luis and Marlen, both 33, lived in Arizona for more than 15 years. They are from the same small town, Xaltianguis, in southern Mexico, but they met while living at the same West Valley apartment complex. Luis was 17 when he crossed the border illegally near Douglas. Marlen was 16 when she jumped a fence near Nogales. Both came looking for work. Their three children are U.S. citizens because they were born in Arizona. The oldest, Luis Jr., is a quiet 13-year-old. Vanessa, 10, wears glasses and loves to talk. The baby, Christian, is 2. Lawyers have told Luis and Marlen that they do not qualify for legal residency. Luis has washed dishes at a restaurant on Grand Avenue, at a retirement home in Peoria and at a restaurant in Sun City West. For the past four years, he worked as a landscaper for a company that maintains office buildings in the West Valley. He earned $9.80 an hour. Marlen is a stay-at-home mom. Luis got his jobs using fake papers. He has managed to keep working despite the recession and Arizona's employer-sanctions law, which have made it much harder for illegal immigrants to get jobs. The couple started thinking about leaving Arizona when Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio began conducting his crime sweeps two years ago, saturating largely Latino neighborhoods with deputies, stopping vehicles for minor traffic violations and arresting illegal immigrants. The couple said the sweeps made them feel like prisoners. They used to enjoy spending Sundays at the park. But to avoid the police, they started staying home as much as possible. The day after Gov. Jan Brewer signed Arizona's new immigration law on April 23, Luis and Marlen decided to leave. They are not alone. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of families have fled Arizona, abandoning homes and apartments in already struggling neighborhoods. Many more are planning to leave. Some have returned to Mexico. Many are relocating to neighboring states, many of which may soon try to adopt laws similar to Arizona's. Luis and Marlen picked Pennsylvania. They have relatives there who say there is plenty of work. Answer:
Great...two more law breakers coming to my state, with their anchors in tow so my tax dollars can pay for their education. Hopefully PA passes a similar bill in the future. They aren't going to go home, they are just going to relocate to another state so they can continue with the perks. There is not plenty of work in PA. Guess they'll be applying for welfare for their kids as well as food stamps and government housing.
