Answer:
Here's a link to the contact page. http://www.mc-ala.org/Home/Elected%20Officials/District% 20Attorney/contact1 Were the police called at the time of the accident? If not there is going to be no evidence that he was drunk at the time of the wreck and there is going to be little that the DA can do. You need to sue the owner of the car and the guy that was driving.

Where can I find money to bury my Father in Montgomery Alabama?
Question:
My Father was found dead last Sunday in his home. He didn't liver a Will or insurance. His Union will not tell who he has left the benefits to for his Funeral. The Police give his guns to people that lived nearby. He has a house and two cars that I can't touch.

Answer:
i have a little experience with this in alabama 1st you'll need to get a list of all of his property and what it is worth. then go to the funeral home and submit to them the amount ask for a payment plan or for them to bill the estate. then get an attorney and file for administer of the estate 1st off no one is to do anything with the estate until an executor is appointed... the police had no right to give the guns away. whether he owned a home etc.... property even his socks cannot be sold or given away without a written will in alabama you have a year to appoint an executor or the state takes all. the rules for heirs are: spouse first if no spouse then children (equal shares) then parents then brothers/sisters then other relatives as soon as you have an administrator or executor you can then ask the judge for an immediate order to sell the property to pay debts including his burial. you cannot take any money for 6 months for yourself.

Why was the Montgomery Bus Boycott important in civil rights history?
Question:
On the 1st of December 1955, Mrs. Rosa Parks, an African-American seamstress, was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama for not standing and letting a white bus rider take her seat. It was an "established rule" in the American south (at that time) that African-American riders had to sit at the back of the bus. African-American riders were also expected to give up their seat to a white bus rider if it was needed. When asked to move to let a white bus rider be seated Mrs. Parks refused. She did not argue and she did not move. The police were called and Mrs. Parks was arrested. In response to her arrest, a boycott of the buses was organised by the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) and the local churches. To co-ordinate the boycott, an organisation called the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) was created. The President of this was Martin Luther King. The Boycott lasted a year. In that time the black community organised car-pools to ensure everyone could get to work. The Boycott led to the ruling that declared segregation on the buses unconstitutional. The success of the boycott boosted the morale of the civil rights movement. It also demonstrated how non violent protest could be successful at achieving change. The media attention helped create northern support for the aims of the civil rights movement. It led to the creation of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the emergence of Martin Luther King as a leading light within the civil rights movement. Why was this important in civil rights history. Maybe some detail please. Thank you.

Answer:
It was important in civil rights history as one example of how non-violent protest could be effective. However, please note, that contrary to popular mythology, Rosa Parks was a political activist - she was not the poor seamstress who "spontaneously" protested at injustice. She was after all the Montgomery Chapter Secretary of NAACP. She had been to Highlander Park, and was thus well versed in political agitation. This was very much a planned, confrontational campaign.

What say U illegals blast America huge protest rally in Alabama over immigration laws?
Question:
MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Hundreds packed the Alabama Statehouse courtyard on Tuesday to rally against the state's tough immigration law, with organizers saying they chose to send a message on Valentine's Day that lawmakers need to love and respect immigrants. People bused in from across the state to demand repeal of the law that aims to be tough on those in the country illegally. Protesters carried signs reading, "Gov. Bentley, don't you have a heart?" "No Juan Crow" and "Una Familia, Una Alabama" while chanting in Spanish and English "no more HB56" (the bill that became the law) and "one family, one Alabama." They also delivered lollipops and Valentines to lawmakers, urging them to strike down the law. Legislative leaders have said they plan to introduce a bill in the coming weeks to make subtle changes to the law. However, House Majority Leader Micky Hammon, one of the sponsors of the immigration bill, said the proposal will not make major changes and is not aimed at softening the law. Rally organizers said the changes aren't enough, and a full repeal is needed. "Tweaks are only temporary Band-Aids, not a permanent solution," said Zayne Smith, a coordinator with the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice. The wide-ranging law requires police to determine citizenship status during traffic stops and bars government offices to verify legal residency for everyday transactions like obtaining a car license, enrolling a child in school, getting a job or renewing a business license Opponents say they'll spend more days at the Legislature lobbying against the law, parts of which have been blocked by federal courts. The law was passed by the Republican-controlled Legislature and took effect in the fall. While opponents say it's hurting the state's economy and image, supporters say it's providing jobs for legal residents. Carmen Espinoza, 17, a high school student at Montgomery Catholic, moved to the state from California last year. An immigrant from Mexico, she is in the country legally, but some friends and family members are not. She said she moved to live with her aunt because her family was worried about gangs and violence in southern California. "In California, there was a big Hispanic community—we never had to deal with racism," Espinoza said. "Now here, when people see me the first think they ask is, 'do you have papers?' It's not fair. We're all equal." Espinoza said she saw the trailer park where she lives with her aunt and two cousins clear out almost overnight after legislators passed the law. She said illegal immigrants left 80 trailers behind with all of their possessions still inside. She said teachers have made racist comments to her cousins, calling one a "hood Mexican." She lives in constant fear for her friends and family who are in the country illegally. "It's a fear we all live with—our family could be stopped because of our appearance," Espinoza said. "It's horrible to live in fear." Espinoza's aunt, Irma Alvarez, 39, moved to Montgomery in 2008 because it was quieter than California and she thought it would be a good place to raise her two sons. She said she has a hard time understanding why lawmakers are targeting immigrants. "We didn't agree to this treatment," Alvarez said. "We're here, we contribute to the community, we pay taxes." http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_19962559

part time jobs in Montgomery/Auburn AL?
Question:
I am a 17 year old girl in a small town in Alabama. Recently, my mother lost her job and soon my family will be desperate for money. I need*--not want--a job. I have a car and I am a senior in high school--my parents will need me to help out with bills, gas expense, and my senior fees. Soon Ill be eighteen, if that makes a difference. How can I find and get a job in the Montgomery/Auburn--or anywhere in between--area?

Answer:
When it comes to finding ways to earn money, consider a Denver (Colorado, USA) woman that lost her upper management job. She started a simple business picking up dog droppings that led to earnings of over $75,000 a year, working outside, setting her own hours, and could be done using a bicycle as transportation. It is also something a child age 10 and up can do alone, an adult can do, or a whole family can do together. This article describes how. http://waits4u.com/WorkingInABadEconomy In this economy, you need to think outside box. Companies are refusing to take applications from the unemployed resulting in many giving up. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/job-listings-unemployed- not-apply-133143362.html http://finance.yahoo.com/career-work/ar ticle/109471/meet-the-unemployable-man?mod=career-work http://ww w.usnews.com/articles/business/careers/2009/07/22/states-where-th e-unemployed-are-giving-up.html ♂♀

What are your thoughts on the possible fall of the big three U.S. auto makers?
Question:
Ford, GM and Chrysler. And the desire of the Democrats to bail them out. AGAIN! Did they not learn after giving Lee Iaccoca 1.5 billion in loans in 1979, and it still did no good? I put this in politics because of this article. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081116/ap_on_go_co/auto_ba ilout Just to get things started. Mine are that they are basically a dinosaur. They're stuck in the early decades of the 20th century with the UAW still being involved. Something I feel that has led to such high costs of outlandish wages and benefits and resulting in low quality products. If you look at the worst ten auto's for 2008, all are American made, and Chrysler really topped the list with 7 or 8 of them. I've owned several cars in my life time, a few being Ford and GM products. Just with those experiences alone, I refuse to even consider a GM or Ford car anymore. Today I own a Hyundai Santa Fe, made in Montgomery Alabama. It has around 125K miles on it still with no problems. Just regular routine maintenance. My wife owns a Chevy Monte Carlo SS with 60K. She's putting it in the shop almost every two months and spending $500 to a $1000 each time, seriously considering getting rid of it and buying a Honda Odyssey. Lets just say if they did fail, and closed all production. Would the workers be willing to let companies like Honda or Toyota come in, retool, and give them good paying jobs without the UAW being involved? Because if they weren't willing to not let the UAW back in, Toyota, Honda or even Hyundai probably wouldn't even consider these areas. Joshua Chrysler did repay the loans. At .30 to the dollar. Costing the U.S. taxpayers millions. And Chrysler is not doing great. They're in talks with GM to keep from folding over completely. stumped: In no way was I trying to downgrade the quality of the workers. I was trying to point out, would they be willing to take a job paying a little less with Honda or Toyota and getting rid of the UAW. But I do disagree with your "design" philosophy. I've yet to see an American made care go past 50K miles without needing major parts replaced. Alternators, starters, water pumps etc. My Mom had a GM made Oldsmobile that blew a head gasket at 40K miles. I have seen many Honda's and Toyota's go over 300K without failure. Not needing any major component replacement until they hit 150K miles. That isn't design issues. That's because the Big Three are entrenched in the UAW, and have to cut costs in quality. The Foreign auto makers don't have the UAW to worry about, so they can invest in higher quality. Have you been in a Chevrolet or Ford lately? They have the feel of a mobile home.

Answer:
If American car companies want to be competetive with those cars made in America by foreign owners (Toyota, Honda etc) they must get rid of the union influence in their operations. As you said, the unions have forced the companies to pay high wages and give outlandishly generous benefits (even after the employees retire) that they can no longer remain competitive. I say let them fall....or give them the chance to retool and restructure....without the unions. If the people don't want to work for them under the new conditions, they can go elsewhere. It is all about greed.
