did you evacuate for gustav? Question: how did it go? where did you go? how long did it take you to get there? when did/will you go back home? we left lafayette, la. at 6:30 p.m. saturday. we got to eufaula, alabama at 12:15 sunday afternoon. that's an 18 hours drive. there were not hotel reservations to be had in a 100 mile radius of tallahassee, birmingham, or memphis. there are about 10 other families evacing at the same hotel [they allow pets!]. several are from houma, la., new iberia, la., and algiers, la.. i saw several 'convoys' of cars traveling together [6-8 cars together]. traffic was not bad, considering. we got about 35 miles per hour. the worst back-up was at the I-10 & hwy 55 interchange and the boluxi, miss. tunnel. we do not expect to return home for 2 more days. word got to us that all family is o.k. and our house is o.k. too. hope all is well with y'all. Answer: No I live in Indiana,but I sure would have if I lived close enough were it would have effected my family. |
